What's your biggest,"This is gonna hurt," moment?
rifleman replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
A friend of mine swears that a kick in the balls is more painful than having a baby. His justification for this point of view is that after nine months to a year a woman goes ahead and has another baby but you don't see men running round saying "Hell yeah, give me another kick in the balls!" I grew up in Yorkshire and some of my relatives worked either in the mines or in support services directly linked to mining - workshops repairing mine equipment. My uncles opinion was that at least 50% of the blame for the destruction of the mining industry can be laid at Arthur Scargill's door. If he hadn't been such a rabidly anti-establishment communist then there could have been the possibility of a negotiated settlement. Besides who calls a miners strike in the summer when the demand for your product is at it's lowest and gives your opponent a chance to import vast quantities of coal reserves. As a soldier I admired her for her no-nonsense approach whereas today's politicians change their minds depending on which way the wind is blowing - she may have made some wrong decisions but at least she made them and stuck by what she decided. A COWBOY TOMBSTONE Here is the headstone of Russell J. Larsen in the Logan City Cemetery, Logan, Utah… I wonder if he died knowing that he had won the ‘Coolest Headstone’ contest? … Here are his five rules for a happy life as he indicated on his headstone:FIVE RULES FOR MEN TO FOLLOW FOR A HAPPY LIFE: 1. It’s important to have a woman who helps at home, cooks from time to time, cleans up, and has a job. 2. It’s important to have a woman who can make you laugh. 3. It’s important to have a woman who you can trust, and doesn’t lie to you .4. It’s important to have a woman who is good in bed, and likes to be with you 5. It’s very, very important that these four women do not know each other or you could end up dead like me. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

Why do a lot of people buy in larger bulk quantities rather than placing many smaller orders? The amount they have ordered would stock the Iraq war for ten years With ammo they can use in a war (hollow point) And this calculation is made as if the military was using ammo at the highest point of the war Why? The Hague Convention of 1899, Declaration III, prohibits the use in international warfare of bullets which easily expand or flatten in the body. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

I'm not a rigger so take this with a pinch of salt - maybe have the maximum allowable extraction force for the freebag as a percentage of the snatch force of the PC eg: extraction force

Combat veteran with "infidel" tattoo asked to leave Florida DZ
rifleman replied to shattenjager's topic in Speakers Corner
Having been there and done that (2 tours of N. Ireland playing NEPUT for Irish terrorists, peacekeeping in Bosnia and DRC) IMHO the guy was being an offensive dick. I've never been injured (luckily) but have lost two good friends in NI (one killed when high velocity round penetrated the vehicle and one who had most of the right hand side of his body torn away by the blast from a nail bomb. I served one year in the reserves (age 17) then xferred to regulars. 2 weeks after enlisting I was helping local emergency services pull 56 badly burned bodies from the burned out wreckage of Bradford City football stadium (can't stand the smell of barbecued pork now) and in DRC I was forced to shoot a 14 yo boy soldier who wouldn't drop his AK despite being asked to by our interpreter. He then started to aim at other members of my squad. It's not my proudest moment but I fired and he unfortunately died of the injuries despite the best efforts of the medics. I don't expect people to thank me for what I did in the Army but I also don't walk round expecting to be treated as something special. I don't talk about it much because it's personal to me. Hard Deck - where is yours and why ?
rifleman replied to shorehambeach's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
For main parachutes...... I was working on the assumption that because there are no minimum opening altitudes for reserves listed that the above were decided upon to at least give the skydiver a fighting chance of getting a reserve out in a timely fashion. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation -

Well, I'm going to complain to my CCI, cos they never told me I could do that on my FJC. I was obviously under the mistaken impression that that was why we have a reserve. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation -
I had problems reaching the BOC on my student rig (cuurently doing PRCP's) and always felt like I was fighting the rig when moving around in the a/c (kept trying to drag me backwards) until I figured out I have a very short back. Now I have the MLW's adjusted right up against the stops and the rig fits a hell of a lot better. I actually feel like the rig is part of me now and not an appendage. Don't know why I'm being called an idiot - Hale-Bopp is a long period comet and will probably return sometime around 4385 AD and was visible to the naked eye for about 18 1/2 months. I'll never see it again so it was worth the effort of going out to watch it. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
