  1. Can't be that good a shot - five out of six rounds from a .38 to the face and neck at close quarters and he lived. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

  3. Does anyone have any info on the Skylark Commodore? Their website says it's a student canopy ranging from 190 - 290 sq ft in size, but haven't been able to find any reviews of it, so I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this canopy and had any views about it. Thanks in advance for any help. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

  5. Another advantage of the Benchmade range is the 'Lifesharp' guarantee - basically if it starts to get blunt you can send it back (covering postage) to benchmade and they'll resharpen it for you. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  6. Just because it's older technology doesn't mean that it won't do the job. I can't fit a skyhook to my rig as it's a TSE Teardrop and the RSL runs from the shackle point on the left riser down to the point where the reserve cable enters the housing just above the reserve handle. 10. here in Wales they're about to switch to an opt out system for organ donation. In the case of someone without a donor card they would operate on 'presumed consent' unless otherwise notified. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

    Sore loser???

A comedian once said that the way a bride enters the church sets the whole tone for the marriage - as she comes in, the first thing she sees is the aisle stretching out before her. The next thing she sees is the altar and then she sees you (the groom). So the sequence is: Aisle altar you. @ Nataly: If you want to get better at poker try joining pokerstars.com as they have a free poker academy that you work through online. 12. It depends on what "someone does something" means (which is why I asked the question). Does it mean someone broadcasts on the PA system that the missing person needs to check in? I can live with that (though that just begs the question -- what happens if they don't respond to the PA?). Does it mean that operations shut down until this person is located? I'm not okay with that. AFAIK in the UK it's standard practice to suspend jump operations until the missing person is accounted for - why add to the problem of a missing jumper by putting more people in the air? I've actually seen it happen - off landing where the canopy snagged a tree, operations stopped until the jumper was recovered and back on the DZ. By that time the weather had worsened so no more jumping. Does it mean jump ticket prices go up, so the DZ can hire a person specifically to deal with that? I don't think I'd be okay with that, either. Or does it mean something else? It really was a genuine question. At my DZ, only jumpers on the sunset load are required to check in after their jump. I have no idea what happens if someone doesn't check in. So I'm curious what the system is, or is proposed to be, for places that require checking in after every jump. At my home DZ it's as simple as someone on DZ control with a copy of the manifest - they know how many jumpers are on the A/C, they're in radio contact with the pilot who tells them if everyone jumped (or not); they count the canopies as they deploy and count them as they land and check them off on the manifest - so that you know someone's gone astray within 5 minutes or so Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  13. Could you not threaten to sue them for loss of earnings and any charges incurred for breaching your contract to host the CP Nationals? I'm fairly sure that it would be substantially more than the cost of the fencing depending on how many years the contract runs for. just my 0.02c as an outsider. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  14. I spent 2 years in the British Army as my OC's driver and used 2 pistols during that time. The issue Browning Hi-power and an H&K P7 M8. The Browning lived in a Kingston holster and the HK was behind the strong side hip in a pancake holster (both from Price Western Leather in the UK). I also agree with other posters that a good, quality belt is an essential. I also used the 13 round version of the HK in practical pistol comps back when pistols were legal in the UK. 16. As far as decontaminating glasses, shoes etc is concerned, try and get hold of some Fullers Earth. For boots and shoes, stuff them with soaking wet newspaper and then apply the FE liberally to the outside of the shoes. If the fuel concerned is anything like diesel the FE will turn a deep shade of pink as it absorbs the fuel. Rinse it off with cold water and then reapply the FE. Repaet until the FE doesn't change colour then rinse thoroughly and dry naturally. It's important to keep the newspaper wet during this process as it helps to force the fuel out of the fabric. For hard surfaces just cover the item with the FE and let it draw the contaminant out. Rinse and reapply regularly. As a side note, FE is what the British Army issues to soldiers to decontaminate themselves and their equipment in a chemical warfare environment. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  17. You were being sarcastic right? You have to watch these vicious weapons constantly or they might sneak off and shoot someone. http://www.assaultweaponwatch.com/ Volunteer and help stop these dangerous weapons from hurting others. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  18. Idiots shooting off their own dicks don't bother me. It's when they shoot up other people that there's a big problem. Totally agreed. However, doing away with privately-owned weapons is not the answer to prevent that. +1 - they banned privately held handguns in the UK and gun crime with illegally held weapons has increased massively. Obviously the legislation must work as no legally owned handguns have been used to commit crime since. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  19. I recently purchased a 1991 TSE teardrop 1 pin which my rigger has cleared as airworthy and I was looking at pack volumes for reserves. The rig is sized for 220 main and 220 reserve but looking at the pack volume chart here http://www.jumpshack.com/Read/Tech/canopy_volume_chart.htm I noticed that the raven III (listed as 249 sq ft) has a pack volume of 468 - 515 cu in but the PD218R has a volume of 475 - 494 cu in. Does this mean that I could fit a raven III into the same space as the PD 218R? I've looked in the manual for the reserve tray volume but can't find the info anywhere. Do any riggers have any idea as to this information? Many thanks in advance for any info/advice. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
  20. I recently acquired a 1991 TSE Teardrop and as far as I can tell the rig appears to be in very good condition. All the stitching is intact as are the grommets. The rig is a perfect fit and feels very comfortable (compared to the student rigs). The only thing I'm slightly worried about is that the cutaway housing is a soft housing (fabric) and I'm thinking that it might be a worthwhile investment to have them changed for the hard housings. There are a couple of other jobs that I'm sure need doing for definite (make the container AAD ready, add BOC spandex pocket). There may be a couple of other items but they're pending a rigger's inspection next week. Any advice / suggestions welcome. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

  22. What would be the difference between the flight characteristics of a 9 cell main as opposed to an identically sized 7 cell main at the same wing loading? For example, a 210 sq. ft main loaded at 1:1 Thanks in advance for any help. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

  25. ^ This ^ +1 Performing CPR on someone with a pulse (heart beating) could cause their heart to stop. I was taught that if someone's heart stops, you perform CPR (after dealing with the airway and any bleeding) and you carry on until someone takes over or a medical professional tells you to stop. I usually carry a small first aid kit in my jump bag which includes several british military wound dressings (packed in plastic lined pouches - good for sucking chest wounds), hemastop, triangular bandage and a newspaper (useful for improvising a support collar when used with the triangular bandage) plus the normal assortment of plasters, disinfecting wipes and burn gel sheets.
