I'm a heterosexual male and while I'm not overly religious I try to do the right thing by my fellow human beings for the right reasons. I don't have any problem with any form of sexual behaviour that takes place between CONSENTING adults - if someone wants to be married to more than one woman (or man) and everybody concerned is fine with it then the best of luck to all involved. If what happens, happens between consenting adults then it doesn't matter how perverted you or I think that behaviour is, it's nobody else's business but theirs. No, I'm not fine with bestiality or paedophilia because it's not happening between consenting adults. I've gone drinking with gay friends (at gay venues) and on the odd occasion where I've been approached, I've pointed out that I'm straight and that's been the end of the matter, no hard feelings and no prejudice. TBH, I'm comfortable enough in my own sexuality to go drinking in a gay bar without thinking that every man in the place is going to anally rape me just because that's their sexual orientation. What is the most unprofessional thing you've done at work?
rifleman replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
I acted perfectly professionally - I just got the EOD team to carry out a controlled detonation on my platoon commander's nice shiny new car on the day he bought it. The walking clusterf*ck parked it inside the camp in an area close to the company offices without a security tag and with a large box wedged in the back seat. He then left it unattended and went out to the assault course to have a chat to one of the other platoon commanders. Turns out he hadn't even sorted the insurance out yet. IMO there's also a risk of a damaged battery leaking potentially corrosive chemicals onto valuable equipment. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

Parachute Hardware Tech Spec and Drawings? Rig Patterns?
rifleman replied to rifleman's topic in Gear and Rigging
Based on that fact 1/3 scale is just a tad shy of 18/32" so the nearest commercially available webbing size to that is 1/2". Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation -
My personal opinion is good on him for trying to make it work, I'm not sure I'd have had the strength of character to do so. However, both parties involved are subject to military discipline and although I'm not familiar with the US UMCJ I'm pretty sure that Adultery is considered to be "an offence prejudicial to good order and discipline" and is actionable via the chain of command. The fact that the other man was hanging around the apartment complex when he lives 6 miles away would make me think that it's probably not over between him and the wife. Parachute Hardware Tech Spec and Drawings? Rig Patterns?
rifleman replied to rifleman's topic in Gear and Rigging
Most of the webbing on rigs appears to be approx 2.25" so I can use 0.75" and then just machine the appropriate check stitching into the appropriate location. Cable can be replaced with braided picture hanging wire. Not sure about housings but I could possibly use flexible plastic tube sprayed silver. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation -
Parachute Hardware Tech Spec and Drawings? Rig Patterns?
rifleman replied to rifleman's topic in Gear and Rigging
That's the whole point of the exercise. I've taken the time to source a good pattern for the bear that I've used to make 2' tall bears before, I've found a stockist of high quality wood wool (rather than the usual polyester stuffing) and I've found a manufacturer of heritage quality eyes, nose and joints. I'm currently looking at samples of high-quality pure mohair fur in various lengths and colours so that I can choose the one that brings out the character in the bear. Once the bear is assembled and stuffed, I'll make a pattern for a RW jumpsuit direct from the bear. As far as the rig is concerned, what I'm aiming for is a perfect 1/3 scale model of a real rig complete with risers, main, reserve, d-bags and pilot chutes. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation -
Parachute Hardware Tech Spec and Drawings? Rig Patterns?
rifleman replied to rifleman's topic in Gear and Rigging
This is going to sound a little weird but here goes. I'm trying to find technical specifications and engineering drawings for all the standard parachute hardware; chest strap adjuster, 3 ring release etc. as I'm trying to make a 1/3 scale rig for a one-off, 2' tall collectors edition teddy bear. I have somewhere local that will do small run casting but I need to get hold of drawings to scale down. In addition, I'd like to be able to make the rig itself a scale copy of a real world H/C system but don't know if that's possible. Any advice, information or possible leads would be gratefully accepted. This is an ongoing project that I'm working on when time allows and once completed I'm hoping to raffle/auction/donate it for charity. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation -
My personal opinion is that any church which prohibits its clergy from marrying and having a consensual sexual relationship is just asking for trouble. I wouldn't ask a RC priest for marital advice simply because they don't have the life experience necessary. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

I keep all the internal doors closed at night and there are extinguishers in the master bedroom, the connecting hall, living room and kitchen (There's also a large fire blanket in the kitchen and the hall). There are phones in both bedrooms and the living room. If the smoke alarm goes off, I check the bedroom door with the back of my hand. If it's hot then we're sitting tight or going out of the window - if it's not then we're going out of the front door. We practice the evacuation routes at least once a month and the smoke alarms are cleaned (vacuum cleaner) and tested once a week. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

I have 4 fire extinguishers (all 2kg dry powder) and a mains powered smoke alarm with its own internal battery back-up(installed by the landlord). We live on the ground floor as my wife is disabled and the fire alarm is also linked to a 24hr warden service (has caused problems when I've burned the bacon). Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

Thank you for that link. This has to be my favourite so far: BASED ON A CASE TODAY... don't allow someone with a known poorly controlled seizure disorder to perform oral sex on you... enough said... Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

Reminds me of a couple I met in the Army many years ago. We were on exercise on Salisbury Plain and during the course of a night march we happened across a man and a woman (both completely naked) trying to hide in some bushes. My oppo, a man with a twisted sense of humour and a grade A pervert to boot, promptly digs through his backpack for a couple of towels and (somehow) manages to give him a towel the size of a football field while she got a small hand towel that covered top or bottom, but not both at he same time. It turned out that they'd driven out there after dark (missing the red flags denoting an exercise in progress), parked up, got naked and, after putting their clothes in the back of the car, wandered off into the bushes for a little al fresco fun. The problem was that, while they were otherwise engaged, their little car (an original Mini) rather unwisely decided to pick a fight with a 62 tonne Challenger 1 tank. The outcome of this altercation went very badly for the Mini while the driver of the tank probably never even felt the bump. We arranged for transport to come out and pick them up and while we were waiting for the truck to arrive we were trying to console the driver by telling him that the Army's insurance would probably cover the cost of replacing the car. He said that it wasn't his car but that it belonged to his wife. We said that surely his wife would understand as she'd been with him at the time. Guess what? He said that the woman with him wasn't his wife. OOPSY. Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation

My driving instructor gave me two rules to help me survive on the road: 1) It's better to arrive late in this world than early in the next 2) Everyone else on the road is a f***ing lunatic who's trying to kill you - drive accordingly. I assume that you could see that his lane was going to end well in advance of arriving there. Personally, I'd have slowed down earlier giving him room to pull into my lane if he'd messed up by being in the wrong lane (see rule 2) If the accident was unavoidable and I got hit, I certainly wouldn't be leaving the scene of the accident to go to some undisclosed location nearby on the promise of seeing insurance documents (You already said that you had suspicions that he was uninsured - why would going somewhere else change that?) . I'd have taken his licence plate number and just gone and sat in my car until the police arrived. If he then gets in his car and drives away, he's leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run) and is committing another offence (at least in the UK but YMMV). If he does that and then denies that he's the driver as far as I can see you're not in any worse position than you are now, you just haven't exposed yourself to any further risk.
