I looked at the fatalities of actual static line jumps in the USA for the last 5 years. 2001 0 of 9 fatalities 2000 0 of 32 fatalities 1999 1 of 29 fatalities 1998 3 of 48 fatalities 1997 1 of 33 fatalities Total of 5 fatalities on static line jumps compared to 152 other fatalities. Looks to me like the rag line is a pretty safe way to go. bleau skies

Well lets see if we can offer you a need! You felt a need to give your opinion! How about courtesy! Maybe common decency! Or maybe even just plain politeness! Respect for others! How about manners? This is why the rest of us feel the need! Did someone mention flameproof underwear? I guess after this one I'm gonna need a pair! Hopefully in the near future you'll feel the need so we can all get to know you. You had some great points, and some not so great.

Hey Screwbag Now lets just hope who ever the luckey soul was that caught your first pack doesn't have to prove you did good. I know it would make you feel great, but hey no one wants a reseve ride. But then again when we need one we want it to be a good one. So I hope all them beers came after!! Of course you know we trust our riggers. Congrats and may you save many;. Bleau Skies

Josh Without being long winded. It may surprise you to know but every skydiver I know went through a period of fear and doubt. A period where we questioned why the hell we were where we were. All of us that jump found ourselves; and kept jumping. Many people never do and quit. The bottom line, you need to decide if skydiving is for you! If it is you will find a way to accomplish your goals. If not no shame, hell you should see me try to shoot a basket ball. This is a sport and like all sports some folks love it, some hate it, and some fall somewhere in between. Now that's hard for us hard core skydivers to understand, but then again what if I told M.J. I don't like basket ball? So enjoy your life, and I hope you jump again, but if not. Hey you experienced something most folks can only dream about!!!! By the way spiders scare the shit out of me! So we all have our thing: Bleau Skies dude

I kinda thought we might be. We'll have to get together someday and make a few jumps. I'm supposed to be in the Ponca area in August maybe we could get together then. If you all get to the Lake Charles area look me up. Bleau Skies

Hey Dan I'm sorry to say but I don't think you made the right choice. Unless you have some sort of illness you need to get in the plane. We all had fears when we started. It sounds to me like you need to make a decision, you either want to jump or you don't. Skydiving is not for everyone, there's no shame in that. I can tell you this it gets easier with time. That works both ways it gets easier to get on the plane or it gets easier to make excuses why you shouldn't. I jump with a girl who has about 100 jumps and she gets real nervous everytime she gets in the plane. She rides to altitude with her eyes closed just trying to relax. When the door opens she goes and she's fine. Some talk bad of her for her fear after a 100 jumps. Me I'm proud of her because she loves to jump and she has to overcome something every jump. But it's worth it to her. And over time is has got a lot better for her. You need to make a decision. You either want to jump or you don't. Again no shame in not jumping skydiving is not for everyone maybe not you. But if you want to jump then you need to get on that plane. If you have an illness or injury that I'm unaware of then my apologies. If not get on the plane. Just think positive thoughts, all the jumps you see at the DZ that go well, have confidence in yourself and GO! Good luck in the future. Bleau Skies

How many of you guys have seen no pulls at your DZ? I know I witnessed one in N.C. an AAD save and then we recently had one in TX another AAD save. The head shrinkers say there are two schools of fear. They call them the 2 F's Fight or Flight. I think there a little off on this one I have a third I call freeze. I think the fighter and the flighter will do something when all goes wrong. Its the Freezer that go's in without ever pulling. So how can we correct this? Who knows maybe I'm way off base. Anybody else have any thoughts on this. It just seems were loosing to many to no pulls! Maybe have dark room all students have to enter. Sit them on something spin them fast and give them 30 sec to have every handle pulled? Bleau Skies

Baby it man. I popped mine out a few years back and you should see the ugly knife wound the Doc put in my shoulder fixing it! Took 6 months to heal so be carefull, don't over do it. Talk about sucks I'm sitting here at work from 6pm-6am by the time I get home, get some sleep it'll be time to come back here. Looks like no jumps this weekend. But I'm off next weekend. If I can somehow sneak in enough sleep I might even try one this weekend, but it may just be wishfull thinking. Bleau Skies

Has anyone heard anymore information on Fliteline Systems going under? As a Reflex owner I'm a little concerned, I sure hope someone else picks them up. They really are a nice rig, but for some reason they never could get customer service right. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

I use the super Bandz and really like them, but leave yourself some extra time for packing because until you get used to them they are a bitch to get your bag closed. After my first couple of pack jobs with them I was ready to throw them away. But they do work great and they will break when they need to, however they also last alot longer then the conventional rubber bands. After you get used to them its not bad at all. I jump a Triathlon 175 loaded at a 1.25 Bleau Skies

If you get in a car and ride around the track with Jeff Gordon are you a race car driver? If you sit the right seat in an airplane and ride down with the plane are you a pilot? If you ride on the back of a motorcycle are you a bike rider? I don't think so, you now have an experience but what you do with that experiece is what counts!! A one jump wonder is not a skydiver. However, many of them have it in thier blood and they will be skydivers when the time is right. Tandems in many parts of the country have become little more then amuzement rides. A bunch of kids get together to ride the worlds tallest roller coaster! Don't get me wrong it has introduced a lot of people to skydiving and made much needed money for drop zones but its still just a ride. For the first time jumper. For those of you who have made a tandem and then continued or plan to continue then count yourself among the skydivers. But most will just go back to Six Flags. bleau skies

On a personal note, I don't use a Fap hat to protect me from impact's. My use is mainly getting out of the plane, just minor bumbs, or snagging hair on the door or in a hinge. But most improtant is riser slap. If you have ever had a riser slap you up side the head and you didn't have on any protection then I bet you had a helment, frap hat or something on the next jump. The only true protection is a Full Face. Then keep in mind its not much in a 50mph impact. So its worth it to me to avoid them riser burns!! Bleau Skies

As long as I live I will never understand a no pull.. My prayers to the JM's all the folks at the DZ and mostly to the family. This is not the thread, but perhaps we could discuss some new training aid that would get people to pull every handle they have when in doubt.
