Well Jason That's one of the reason's there are so many different methods of student training. I have 125 jumps and I just don't trust other people. I would never do a tandem as a passenger. I trained static line and made all my jumps myself and wouldn't have had it any other way. In fact the hardest thing about jumping for me is trusting that the rigger did a good job on my reserve. I don't mean to offend anyone its just the way I am. Its no reflection on other people. Anyway tell your friend to do a static line and then he can go all by himself, put him on the spot!!! I'm the same way on a motor cycle I just can't ride on the back. Bleau Skies

The hats or the people who wear them?
-
Hello Jussi to bad about your school, but hey at least you can skydive. Florida or California? Well both are great skydiving states. The weather is good for year round skydiving and there are lots of big DZ's. Florida is a lot smaller state which puts many DZ's in driving distance to each other. CA is so much bigger the DZ's tend to be further apart. I jumped at several DZ's in Florida Z-Hills, Deland and a couple of the smaller one's they were all great! You'll have to hear from some Of the California crowd about their DZ's as I've never been there. But either would be a good choice for skydiving!

Skreamer Where's your sense of style? Frap hats rule! . Pro-tech ugly and I mean UGGGGG...LY. Why wear a Frap hat? because its as close to no helmet as you can get. They are easy to carry, you can fold them. They hold your goggles on. I would look real funny with an audible duct taped to my head and they do protect against things like sharp objects sticking out in the plane screws things like that, and most important riser slap, that hurts like hell. Of course the girls like to keep their hair out of the way. Long hair can be a real bummer in freefall, well i guess this applies to some of the guys too. They don't do much for the sky missile that hits you in a track, but thats why I have and cypress and a gun! (NRA lifetime member). So when you get to the states, be cool wear a frap hat you'll fit right in!! Bleau Skies

Clearing the Air?

I started in 1975 quit in 1978 and came back again this year. There have been many changes since the mid-seventies. Some seem for the bad, most seem for the good, but things are different. In 1975 I had several guys (not many girls around then) with 500 plus jumps fall base for me so I could learn RW. I don't think you see that very often today. These people were instructors and JM's. The first jump course cost you, after that all instruction was pretty much free. Most people taught you things because they wanted better skydivers to jump with. That's not much of a problem today. There are more jumpers and better jumpers out there. In the seventies there were no free flyers. Because you could always get someone to jump with you. I think now a lot of people start free flying because they jump alone even on an Otter load. I think the jumpers of today are much better then of years past. The whole sport has grown. We were pushing it just by trying out the new square canopies. Now students jump faster canopies then we could immagine. More is done in the air now then we even considered. There were less folks around so we could get more help. I can remember being invited on a 10 way when I had about 40 jumps. I'm not sure that would happen today. Unless everyone had 40 jumps. Anyway the world has moved on, and I don't think skydivers have changed anymore then the rest of the world has. I am enjoying the jumping and the people just as much if not more then I ever did. I don't think the sport is being ruined, its just changing and most folks resist change. If I had not quit for as long as I did I would probably be resisting too. So to you newer folks, you have made me feel welcome, but I would like to see a little more interaction between the high time jumpers and the low timers. By the way there were skygods in 1975 too. Yes they acted the same as today. Bleau Skies

sounds like it all ended well, your right about being true to yourself (where have I heard that before). Like they say (who the hell are they? anyway). Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the sky, then be in the sky wishing you were on the ground. Good luck on your next one and keep us posted. Bleau Skies

Well I have about 35 jumps on my Triathlon now, and couldn't agree more with Rhino. Opens smooth on heading and soft. I dont roll the nose just roll the tail enough to control the frabric. Best landings I've ever had. I was a cross country with 3 other guys. 1 stiletto, and two sabres. The stiletto and the triathlon made it back. The two sabres did not. This canopy is a lot of fun! Hey Dick I don't know anything about the Orlando wind tunnel, but I'm glad to see you following up. I am sure it will help with stability and confidence. Hope you make that next jump! Good luck, by the way enjoyed your web site. Now go forth and get stable,

Hey Yarik In 1975 I was jumping a round canopy that was made in 1962. I sold it in 1976 and it was still being jumped then. I can't say the one your looking at is ok. But from my experience they can stay safe a long time if cared for. The newer canopies have to be built better then them old rounds, so if it looks like something you might want make a deal with the seller to refund your money if its not airworthy, and have it checked by a rigger. All that said if you can afford it buy a newer one, but I'm sure you already considered that. Good luck Bleau Skies

I don't know any gay skydivers. But we know where the gay football players are! Remember the thread with the finger up the bum!! Why did they steal the word Gay anyway? Straight people used to be happy and gay. Now you can only Be Happy!
