Hey Head I agree sounds like a damn fine day!!!!!! but ah..... ah.... were you going to throw a skydive in there somewhere? Some fun eh!

This is a skydiving forum, so I thought I'd post a great day on the DZ today. Tried a 4 way from 11,000 but the 4th went low (not me this time) so we had to settle for a 3 way. Jumped my new (to me) Triathlon today a 175 loaded at about 1.2 what a great canopy, soft on heading openings and the best landings I've ever had. Clouds moved in some, so the 2nd jump was only from 6000, did a short 2 way dumped a little high and played with the canopy. Some of the guys made a demo jump onto a High School football field, the Wuffo's went nuts. All in All a great day on the DZ no reserve rides and loads of fun. For those who did jump (I know boring post) for those who couldn't well I hope this brings a smile to your face and great memory back. Some fun eh!

Hey Slotperfect Thanks for the post, I had no idea you could actually wash these things. Here I am trying the spot clean stuff with a soft bristle brush. But next time look out.... I'm gonna get clean. Some fun eh!

I'm about to get off newbie status and I wanted a good subject. So how do you rank them. Skydiving, Sex, Drugs (beer counts) and Rock and Roll. whats your order? I guess that would make this a poll. Some fun eh!

First I don't think skydiving is abinormal, since the beginning of time man has wanted to soar like an eagle. Now we have the technology. The way I see it you can't let the fear of dying tomarrow, stop you from living today. Anyway you sound like your on the right track so do what pleases you. For one day your fear and their fear of dying will be realized.and what you do between now and then is all that will matter. Some fun eh!

Hey Skybytch Congrats on your successfull surgery hope things go well till June. I had a fusion myself (only one) at L3-L4. They put a titainium cage in mine, it still bothers me some but no problems jumping so far. The worst thing is the ride up gets a little uncomfortable on the little planes. Opening shock has not been a problem and landings are ok but I have been carefull. Hope you have the same success. Some fun eh!

I hate to rehash an old thread but several of you have recently bought Triathlons and have had some time to make a few jumps. Mine just came in a 175 and I'm hoping (weather permitting) to jump it this weekend. What did you guys end up with for packing? Have you tried several methods? I'm thinking of a standard pro-pack roll the nose a little, roll the tail a little more kinda of thing what do you all think? How have your openings been? Have a safe weekend. blue skies Lary

Actually that old stuff just wasn't as bad as a lot of you think. I started with a 28' round with what was called a double L modification (for steering) and a 24' round non-steerable reserve. The container was military surplus and the reserve was chest mounted. The landings were not all that bad. You had to have a good spot and most of the time you landed facing backwards, but it wasn't like it was painfull or anything. I then graduated to a PC which of course was round and we got a lot of stand ups out of them old rigs. I can tell you one thing you can land a lot softer on a square but you can damn sure land a hell of a lot harder on a square too. I have about 75 jumps on rounds with no malfunctions. My first mal came on a square. Anyway the old rounds could be alot of fun. Don't get me wrong nothing compared to the squares of today, but still a lot of fun. My first main was a 1961 model my second a 1972 I was really up town. I started in 1975. You all should try some of that old gear its not near as bad as you think. Some fun eh!

Well this morning when I got up the sky was so blue it brought tears to my eyes. The sun was shining, the winds were like 3-5 and I was so excited I couldn't even eat breakfast. I drank a few cups of coffee and headed to the DZ. On the way over the traffic was light and the temp warmed up to about 75 degree's, and it, was almost perfect. Then I got to the DZ and the G@# D#@ plane was broke so the Mechanic says F@#%% he @#$ and @#$% so the @#$ and @#$% maybe tomarrow. And all I can think is, it was almost perfect!!!! Ah.....[sigh] but hey tomarrow is a new day hope all yours went better. Some fun eh!

While all of you bring up rather good information the one thing that does bother me is (Cypress or nothing). all AAD's are tested extensively. You can't manufacture something that doesn't work in a sport like ours. Not for long anyway. I saw a sentinal 2000 save a no pull in 1976. Most of us didn't jump with what we called an AO (automatic opener) back then, I'm not saying its the best only that it worked. If you can't afford a cypress and can afford something else, any chance is better then no chance. This is a last ditch effort, all else has already failed. So if you can, put something on your rig. For info I jump a cypress because I can afford it and if I couldn't I would have something else, but I would have something.

I started skydiving in 1975, how ever I quit for a long time and just recently started back. But I feel I can contribute a little to this cause. I know that modern tech has changed things a bunch and for the better that said. In 1975 we did not have a (skydiving) helment. We used motor cycle helments. I have witnessed thousands of jumps with these helments and never once saw a problem which was caused by the helment. Anything with the label skydiving on it seems to bring top dollar. Based on witnessing thousands of jumps and making a hundred or so myself I would say any quality helment desined to protect the head from impact should be just fine.

Lisa brought up an interesting point in a different thread. How many guys would make a first jump (tandom jump) with a women? I don't think I would have, well it depends on how our d rings snaped together LOL. Any way what would you have done? No offense Lisa Some fun eh!

A very bad subjects for friends!!!!!!!!!!!

Loaning rigs is common practice amoungst skydivers. I have loaned mine and have been able to take advantage of trying canopies and containers that I may never have been able to jump. However on a selfish note. What if your friend gets put in jail or the hospital or even (heaven forbid) killed. How are you going to get your rig back? Food for thought.

Well Froggie One of the breaks of skydiving is you can't do it anytime you want, so sometimes you find yourself there when your not really sure you do want. You handled it and learned. In the future there will be days that your not at your best but can still make the best of your day. Hope this makes sense. I guess what I'm saying is on the off days you can still have fun, just stay in control (which you already did) but when you say the hell with turns just enjoy the FF. Or the canopy ride. Make the best of what you have. Some fun eh! Larry

Hey Skyhawk You guys should also discuss opening altitude if possible, its always nice to know where people plan on opening. On my DZ this weekend we had a couple of folks with new canopies and they wanted to open high and play. Everyone was aware and made proper adjustments. Glad you missed I saw an incident like that in 1976 both jumpers lived but the guy who hit the canopy was severely injured, and never jumped again. Lets be carefull out there Larry

Hey Skyhawk Don't leave us hanging man. Did you go? Tell us how it was after a two month layoff. Some fun eh! Larry

Hey Gang Last sunday we had 12,500 a C-182 nice temps and only 4 jumpers. If anyone wants to make a load come by Ground rush at Beaumont Tx. Hell the plane spent hours on the ground. We have a nice DZ, a covered packing area and all the necessities. So help us keep the plane in the air come on down, over, up or what ever. Some fun eh!

I'm not very good at this but I did travel quite a bit with the military many years back. And some of the toast around the world would really crack me up. How about some of you all throw in your favorite toast. Here's one from oklahoma. here's to the bulls that roam the woods and make those hefers feel so good. If not for their courage and their mighty prod what would we do for beef by god. So this one sucks, lets see one better. some fun eh!
