  1. Hey Viking If your sure that speed is correct you could be in for one major slammer. I don't know what your jumping now, but many parachutes will slam you at that speed. You might want to check into a jump suit that slows you down some or even relax your arch a little. Check with your instructors cause I don't think they have thought about the hard opening you may end up with.
  2. There are many different classes, video's, books etc. on canopy control. The problem I see here is people think that it is owed to them. Sorry but no DZ owes us anything, except very basic canopy flilght ( such as no low turns ) how to land, etc. Its up to you to find a course, book video or coach if you want the advanced training. Of course you'll have to pay for it, but it is out there if you really want to learn. Until then just fly conservative. Remember if you get too advanced on first jump courses you'll loose a lot of people due to cost, and many DZ's just don't have the time, personel, or equipment to get into advanced training. In reply to!

Ok I know I had some trouble with this when I started on this forum so I'm going to do my best to help out those still having trouble. Here's my best shot. First you mouse click on the reply button in the thread you want to reply to. That will give you a blank page to type on. Then you scroll down and highlight the text you want to copy. You then right click on it and then click on copy. You scroll back up to the empty page. You then put a bracket and a quote like so {quote} then you right click your mouse and paste the text you want to reply to. then you put a bracket like so {/quote} so it should look like this. You must type quote also. {quote} text you copied {/quote} I used the shift key so it would show up here use the lower case bracket. But it will look just like above exactly the back slash and all. I hope this makes sense and helps out those who need it. Bleau Skies
  4. This is interesting, my Triathlon opens so soft and slow I sometimes wonder if its going to open. I pro pack, fold the nose into itself and make sure the slider is pulled out over the nose. I roll the tail just enough to control the pack. I also use the super bandz that aerodyne recomends, the small ones. I had one hard opening and I know I was feet down when it happened. That one did the same to me with the bruises and I sprained my finger on the risers. Check his body position cause thats what got me.
  5. We could have me and mini-me boogies!

    Yikes!

That's pretty much how my first jump course went. But we had 28' rounds instead of the T-10. Its not near as bad as you think!
  7. Your just trying to make the rest of us feel like total doo doo aren't you?
  8. Really cool pics, but I don't know what you guys are talking about, what funneled jump? It all looked like standard RW to me!
  9. Today I followed a student out from 10,500 he is finishing up his SL progression. He had to do some turns and a back loop. He had a good stable exit, then started his turns, right turn went good, then a left turn, then on to the back loop. All went well after coming out of the back loop he started chiping a little he went into a hard arch and bam! the FXC fired at 7000 ft. We have no idea what caused it to fire early. It will be sent back to the factory. I know there was a thread earlier on a cypress misfire and now this one. Be careful out there folks you know the old saying everything comes in three's. Just a good thing he was stable at the time. He went right back up on the next load and did great so I was glad to see that. Bleau skies

    Home at last!

I know exactly how you feel. I was out of the sport for 22 years before making a come back this year. The changes were unreal, but it's still just as awsome as it ever was, maybe even more so with the modern canopy rides. Good luck and stay with it this time. bleau skies

    Reflex

I agree with Ramon for the most part, I really like my Reflex, I don't have any issue's other then the reserve (pop top) pilot chute does get loose once in awhile. Its comfortable and seems to keep everything in place. I'm not a freeflyer so I can't really say, but I have not seen any problems with the folks that do ff with them. I have heard a lot of rumors about the resale going down after fliteline went under, however I went looking for another Reflex (because they were going to be cheap) well I have found that they haven't lost any value, they cost just as much as the other used containers. So go figure. Anyway I do like mine. Good luck in your quest. Bleau skies
  20. Of all the ZP fabrics Triathlon's are one of the easier to pack. I just pro-pack, don't roll the nose and just roll the tail enough to control the pack and it opens nice and soft, and on heading most of the time. Its a great canopy, it flies fast enough to penetrate the wind, and yet is forgiving enough to allow for mistakes. I really love mine. Bleau Skies Larry
