A guy on my home DZ just ordered a new custom Hornet 170 last week. So I guess for the time being you can still get them.
-
Well I ordered my Wings with one and put about 50 jumps on it. I have had a previous shoulder surgery. Although its in the same area it was much harder for me to get hold of and pull the FF handle. I started dipping my shoulder and then started having deployment problems. (line twist) It also was coming loose about half the time, which is not a real problem then its just like a funny shaped hackey. So I went back to a hackey and have been very happy ever since. I think its a good option but not for everyone.

As this is a last chance ( life or death ) decision please don't listen to anyone but the factory. P. D. can tell you if its safe to jump at that wing loading and they seem to be very helpfull in these matters.

Killing is always killing. However killing is not always murder, a major difference. Abortion is murder, example; if a pregnant woman is beat and looses the baby it's murder. Now if she kills it in the womb its abortion (not murder?) makes no sense. Defending our country from those that would do us harm is justifiable homicide. The legal definition of homicide. The killing of a human being by a human being.

rec.skydiving vs. dropzone.com Forums
cloud9 replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Frankly I see no difference in someone that post on rec.com about dz.com and someone that would post on dz.com about rec. Peas in a pod -
I remember the paraplane, but never saw one. It seems though that I do recall a square I saw in Z hills that someone was calling a baby plane. Did they make a smaller version? Anyway my first square jump was a Strato star, with the reefing system on top. It malfunctioned twice in 20 jumps! Had a slider put on it and cured that problem.

Is a Cobalt safer for big way jumps?
cloud9 replied to flyhi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Phree that's very interesting, what's your new canopy? Your saying it opens just as good (soft) in a sit or track as a cobalt? I know what you mean on the pocket rockets but that's all after opening. I think that any canopy that can save a life by opening soft even when the speeds are high or less then favorable should be talked about. I know that Atair advertises this but if its true it could really make a world of difference. I have tried opening a Triathlon, Hornet, Stiletto and Heatwave in a track, not a hard fast track either all of them opened hard. I would hate to get caught low and have to dump in a very fast track. All of the above canopies were loaded at 1.4 or less so no heavy wing loading here! Not a lot of attempts either I know when to quit. I have never jumped a Cobalt. -
Is a Cobalt safer for big way jumps?
cloud9 replied to flyhi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know as I read my skydiving magazine, I pondered the same question. While I do believe that any canopy can open hard and at this time I don't have enough information to say what caused the hard opening at JFTC. I would think that if its true that cobalts can be opened in a track with no ill effects then it would be a wise choice. I would like to hear from Cobalt owners that have in fact opened in a track and what the results were. If you haven't dumped a cobalt in a track then your opinions are invalid and you just plain don't know. So what about it cobalt owners? -
I think you'll know when the time comes. I couldn't have unstowed my toggles if I wanted to. It spun up so fast and so hard there was just no other option.

and JJ is the winner. The ball routine was all done very high, and the joints holding it together could be broken if the jumper couldn't get through one of the holes. This jump was done several times and the jumper always made it out without having to break the ball. Of course the jumper has several thousand jumps and is also a base jumper. The worst part was deploying with the ball. Yes them nuts did deploy with it, and it was an experience. But done in a fairly safe manner, and made for some great video!

My first jumps were on a 28' round with either a double L mod or a 7 tu. I don't remember standing any of them up. On about jump 20 I started jumping a PC I weighed about 155 lbs and I stood up most of my landings. My JM was about 200 lbs and he stood up most of his landings too, of course he had a little over 500 jumps which was a bunch back then. I had a friend that had a competition PC he seemed to land harder and it definetly opened way harder. I'm not sure why perhaps Bill could tell us what the difference was. (hint). Anyway I guess there were at least two types of PC's and mybe more . It was a different game but it was still a hell of a lot of fun!

Well there was this collapsible ball laying around on a slow day at the DZ and this was the end result.
-
Well I named mine faith. Cause I found out when women get down and serious they just want us guys to trust them, you know to have some faith in them

I started this thread just to see if we could get a little good humor jousting going. I was hoping that all would partake and no one would be offended. I noticed that a few mybe took serious (please don't) its all in good fun. I also read most of the post in the Non-American thread and found it witty and fun. I was hoping we could just expand on that at our expense as I pointed out in the first post we may have a few small problems
-
Ok I got to go to bed but lets face it these guys are good. So common bring your best stuff, this is the major leagues. If it wasn't for a 12 pack and a couple of pills I'd still be in there but noooooooooow iiiiiiits bbbbbbeddddd timmmme niteeeeeeee!!!!!!!!11
-
Ok so I wouldn't be a sport if I didn't throw in to your thread. But hey what's the indifference to us YANKS! Do you guys think we can't feel ? Please awnser on the American Thread! Shhhhhhhhhsss. I'll never tell!!
-

-
You know the non-american post has been the ultimate post; they snuck up on us when we weren't looking. Are we as Americans going to take that? Lets face it, where else in the world can you get news like the good ole USA. Example DC sniper case, Okla teen in Salasaw, Iraq bombing maybe! Com'on Americans unite lets beat the non-american thread!
-
Thank you Randy just seems to reinforce doesn't it? So Why?
-
Well maybe you guys can tell the difference, but they all sound the same to me. On our DZ we have two Choas 21 in the 108 size and a velocity90 as well as a couple of small stiletto's and they all sound about the same to me, which is whistling and very cool.
-
I guess the point is I would really like to hear from the one's that do it and get an understanding of why! I mean it's not like a search of the post won't show it! Remember the comercial? I've never rebuilt a Transs misssion but I've seen it done once
-
I have read many post now where a person is asking for information of a paticular nature and someone replys "well I've never done that or I have no experience with that but" Why in the world do yo do that? I just can't imagine. If you don't know then don't anwser, stay out of it! In the talk back forum no big deal; but why in the serious forums would someone do that? I'm totally baffaled. So for the one's on record doing exactly that: WHY?
