  1. When you guys talk about replacing brake lines at 200 jumps. Are you talking about from the cascade down or do you replace the whole thing cascade's included? Or are you just talking about the lower steering lines? If not how often do you replace the lower steering lines? Or do you replace them all at once? Wow I think I even confused myself!
  2. Hey Dave unless he was a little guy you two must have loaded that rig up pretty good. How was your landing?
  3. I couldn't say for certain, but we do have a rigger at the DZ and the DZO seems to follow all the equipment well. So I would say he most likely does what's required.
  4. I know I posted a very similar incident several months back, but it happened again. This weekend we had an FXC 12000 fire at 9000 ft. This is the second one in less then a year. I know most folks think the DZ should just go to the cypress but the fact is the DZ barely supports itself and an AAD is better then no AAD. However the reason I'm posting this is the first one was sent back to the factory and they said they could find nothing wrong with it. Now it's happened again. Please do not get above anyone with this AAD at any altitude it seems you just never know when its going to fire.
  5. I'm not sure how you guys do this. I've jumped Manta's, Falcon 265, Raider 220, Triathlon 175, Heatwave 150, stiletto 150, and stiletto 135 the 135 loaded at about 1.55 and none of those canopies would do this. I could make a hard toggle turn and then turn in the opposite direction and it would spin up. But I could turn any of those canopies as hard as I wanted and never twisted them up on a single toggle turn. So are you turning one direction and then the other? Or did this happen by just pulling one toggle?
  6. The Heatwave is deffenitly a high performance canopy and very similar to the Stiletto. As Dave said get some advice for someone experienced that knows how you fly. I would also agree with Dave that you should probably get at least a few jumps on a ZP square canopy befoe going eliptical. It would be a considerable jump from a 195 falcon to a 170 Heatwave. You will need to be cafefull you don't balloon the first few landings under it. I have a Heatwave and love the canopy, it has great openings, very responsive turns, a lot flare for landing and it packs easier then the stiletto.
  7. Wow 500 and jumping competition on 16 way! You go girl! At 200 I'm still practicing my 3 way skills I always thought it was. Old enough to know better, but to young to resist.

Remember that everyone funnels a formation now and then. Get a good critique after the jump. And keep in mind its all supposed to be fun. After all you only get about 40-50 seconds of flying pratice per jump before its time to track off. Its going to take a few to get it down.
  9. Wow I'm really surprised by this statement. I guess that's why they make so many different canopies. I jumped a Triathlon 175 for about 100 jumps and really loved the canopy. Some of the things I thought it did really well. Openings were great, soft on heading. I could not bowtie this canopy I could pull toggles all the way down it would stall and just kind of shutter. It had turns as fast or faster then a Sabre. It was very easy to land. There was no two stage type flare. The canopy really did not want to surf. So all I had to do was flare at about 10 ft and it would set me down for nice soft standups most of the time. It handles turbulence very well. It was also very easy to pack. What I didn't like about it. It didn't like to surf! I certainly would not tell someone to sell their new canopy and buy another. But I would highly recomend the triathlon for a newer jumper, or someone that just does not want the surf type landings. In fact my wife will be starting Aff in the fall and her first canopy off student status will be a Triathlon.
  10. Tandems actually make a lot of people nauseous. There are many theories for it. The way the harness fits, hanging forward of center under the canopy, motion sickness. In any case tandems really are not for everyone. If a person gets sick under the tandem they don't realize that it probably won't happen under their own canopy, unless they know some skydivers or the Tandem master explains it. Also many people just don't say anything about it so no one knows.

  12. This is kind of a two sided thing. First I see a lot of newer people invited on RW jumps. The jump is dirt dived, and then off they go. The formation doesn't happen the newbie thinks its his fault he/she walks away and doesn't try to get on another load. FF starts out solo for quite a few jumps until you get good enough to jump with other people. I don't know of any FF that were on formations docking with someone the first couple of times the jumped FF. If your on an RW jump stay around for the post jump ask questions and you will probably get invited on another jump.

    I hear this a lot from people that don't like guns. This mentality really scares me. The beauty of a free scociety is you don't have to need something to own it. You only have to be a law abiding adult with money and you can have the things you want. Think about your mentality Why do we need fast cars? we don't Why do we need motorcycles? we don't Why do we need 3800 sq ft homes? we don't Why do we need drop zones? we don't Swimming pools, Sport parachutes, gardens, art, news papers, computers and list go's on. We don't need any of these things. As long as we live in a free Republic we can have them! Well Nick you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and thankfully it takes more then that to take away freedoms and rights.

    Well I have never been a drunk or a druggie, and have never been treated for mental illness or have had hallucinations. I think there is plenty of proof, but faith also must come into play. You deal with things everyday that have no pysical proof, faith is your only confirmation. All abstract emotions are simply believed. I can't see, hear, smell or touch love but I have faith that it exist. The proof is all around me. You simply need to open your eyes and your heart and you'll find God all around you!
  16. I'm stuck in a refinery Wed - Sun nights 6pm - 6am. But at least the DZ is only an hour away. So if I only sleep 3 hours sat I can still get some jumps in before I have to get back to work.
  17. this is pretty humorous. Actually almost every land in the world that is occupied today has changed hands many times. So it was all taken away from one group or another. As for judging yesterday with todays standards well it really doesn't apply. I mean after all we could easily take a whole bunch more land from just about any country we wanted to. But of course that would be uncivilized by todays standards so we don't do it.

    You invited it! The truth is your a hypocrite, you aren't really concerned for the inocent lives lost. Only the ones lost by guns, because you don't like guns so you don't think anybody should have them. Want proof. We all know more people are killed in car accidents then by guns in America. But hey you see a need for cars so it's an acceptable sacrifice. If the speed limit were lowered to say 25mph we could save thousands of lives every year. But hey it would take to long to get anywhere. Acceptable sacrifice. More children die in swimming pools then by guns in America. But hey you see a need for pools so again acceptable sacrifice. More people die of drug related activity in the US homocide and OD,and its illegal and banned! That hasn't changed a thing people still die. So even if you banned guns completely people would still get killed by them. So why penalize the folks that do see a need for firearms. The people that use them responsibly and legally for sport and protection. Because you don't like them? Because you don't think anyone should own one? Because you don't have one? I have owned guns in my home for over 30 years. In that time no one has ever been shot in my house. There has never been an accidental discharge in my house. A gun from my home has never been used in a crime. My whole family knows how to shoot and enjoys shooting sports. I am not the exception, my house in the the rule. The exceptions are those few that commit crimes with guns. Well I say lets keep guns and ban swimming pools! Where's your emotion for the other deaths? Have you ever posted that just to many kids are dying in swimming pools, it's time to ban them? Of course not because it's not the inocent lives that bother you, its the guns! Thankfully our founding fathers knew there would be people like you around. So they guaranteed us our rights in print!

  21. Not exactly, you see the country was not founded on the belief of slavery. That was simply a way of life at the time. There was an amendment end of story. However the country was founded on the belief of human rights given by our creator. It was founded with freedom of religion in mind. In fact that was a very important point. Seperation of church and state never meant seperation of God and state. Everything our founding fathers did included God. They paryed before every meeting while drafting the constitution. When you swear in at court you do it on a bible. Even in the dates on the constitution it is in the Year of our Lord. The very dates you use daily are in reference to Jesus. It is very obvious the founding fathers never intended for the use of God to be unconstitutional. Only a twisted mind could look at everything they did and still say that they meant for the use of God to be unconstitutional. Well I guess if you want you can give that credit to liberals I wouldn't but that's another point. What I meant was look at the gun control issue. The right of the people to keep and bear arms. The people is used many times in the consitituion and everywhere else to liberals it means the people, but when it comes to guns suddenly it doesn't really mean the people. Freedom of the press and of speach. Can you honestly say you think our founding fathers meant or would approve of public profanity or pornography selling in local stores? It doen't take a genius to answer of course not. So then was that not twisted to fit what a liberal wanted and not what the framers of the constitution intended? I can see we're on different ends of the spectrum and I guess checks and balances are not always a bad thing. But this time the conservatives will win!
