  1. So you subscribe to the theory that matter is eternal?
  2. Right, information needs a source but intelligence doesn't. It's so obvious! https://youtu.be/eZfdYI4U1Vs
  3. Well... No need for humility sir. You are definitely in the elite class compared to us knuckle draggers in the religious peanut gallery. I did a little research and I stand in awe.
  4. Finally, something we can agree on! But a little basic research will show you that the recent uproar over the pope's opinion on the existence of Hell is false news. The pope believes in hell as far as any reasonable interpretation of what he has ever said will show. I didn't make the remark about the Pope. I just said what I said about the Reformation. I realize you're obviously the smartest person in the room but a little basic research on your part would show you that.
  5. There were really good reasons for the Reformation.
  6. Good question. The answer is, the evidence mentioned doesn't specify. God's existence is "general revelation." God is specified in the "special revelation" of scripture.
  7. I know where you're going with that. Did you watch Dr. Zacharias' lecture? https://youtu.be/Jo3vRqrW8NU Anyway, it's a subjective question.
  8. No. There's plenty of evidence for God's existence. I tried to put it in legal terms as in a trial. Standard of proofs as in preponderance of the evidence vs. proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I put forth matter, energy, particularly information, and your conscience as general evidence of God. I might also add time. I believe all of those things had an origin and, specifically with information, an intelligent source. Again, I know you disagree. I'm ok with that. You just place your faith differently.
  9. I think the point in all this is, despite it not being a calculable "proof," that it is a reasonable "wager." More reasonable than the atheistic alternative, in my opinion. I know you disagree.
  10. Dr. Zacharias is talking asbout societal trend.
  11. I'm not saying that at all. Morality doesn't flow from religious practice. It flows from God. And I never meant to imply that secular people can't have morality. God's "Common Grace" applies to all.
  12. - Matter - Energy - Information - Conscience Interesting. Dr. Ravi Zacharias addressed this in his book “The End of Reason.” Secularization – The process by which religious ideas, institutions, and interpretations have lost their social significance. When this happens, a cultural inversion takes place. When secularization has had its full course, it will ultimately destroy a sense of shame within a culture. You take shame away from a highly educated person and you’ve got a monster in the making. “I want to raise a generation of young people devoid of a conscious, imperious, relentless, and cruel.” - Adolph Hitler The danger with this kind of world, “Not with intent but with logical outworking,” is that it will produce a generation of men and women without shame. The tragedy of that is a production of hell. Jesus never needed anyone’s “acceptance.” You need his. You don’t go to hell for not accepting Jesus. You go to hell for unrepentant lying, steeling, committing adultery, blaspheming, murder, dishonoring your parents, coveting, etc.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB-BkBGgNto “I believe in Christianity in the same way as I believe that the sun has risen. Not because I see it, but that by it, I see everything else.” – C.S. Lewis QuoteYou have told a bald faced lie and you are not man enough to admit it. Not that it matters..... I believe it was you whom I asked much earlier if you were intentionally just being an ass. I didn't call you one. I just asked the question. I received a "1st warning" from billvon. However, accusing me of telling "a bald faced lie" and not being "man enough to admit it" seems like a direct personal attack to me. Do the rules here apply to all?
  14. Joe, No amount of evidence would ever satisfy you.
  15. "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:31)
  16. "And yet, it moves." This "Rock" doesn't move.
  17. I can't remember who said this but I thought it interesting. It went something like "Society celebrates the search for truth." (Oprah with her Universalism, Richard Gere and his Buddhism, Tom Cruise with Scientology, etc.) However, "It stands ready to crucify anyone who says they've found it."
  18. Yet, even so, you were smart enough to get the point I was trying to make. Bravo gowlerk! Bravo!!
  19. What Ron said x 2! Except that it does bother me in that I know the tragic outcome. And it is, as you said in your last sentence, the Christian's personal responsibility/investment of sharing/explaining. But it is just that. None of us can reason someone into conviction. Especially when, from the standard of reason (e.g. God), they are unreasonsble. But, you know, it's their choice.
  20. Most people are like frogs in a pot of water with the temperature slowly being increased till they die.
  21. Tell you what. I do get frustrated from time to time. I appologize. It's not my intention to castigate and ridicule. Believe what you want.
  22. Not at all. He predestined to save some. Ok... I'll dumb it down even further for you... the operative part is "he predestined". This is in direct opposition to your statements that God has foreknowledge but does not foreordain. Foreordination is predestination. Well, I do if god made me with a nature that would lead to that. But if god decided I was not to be saved, he'd have made me with that nature instead. So if I've got the nature god decided he wanted me to have, I'm following the path god decided he wanted me to follow, and I'll either be saved or not depending on what god wanted my destiny to be. According to what you're saying, I don't have the opportunity to change that, I'm just floating along the path that has already been set. The point is you are trying to tell us that our actions are not predestined by god, and you've just posted a bible quote that says they are. http://www.reformed.org/documents/wcf_with_proofs/index.html?body=/documents/wcf_with_proofs/ch_III.html
  23. Not at all. He predestined to save some. It doesn't apply to all. The cool thing is, even you have the opportunity to repent and believe. But the point is, with regard to predestination, that no one would have unless God acted on our behalf.
  24. Happy Easter! This is the most biblically accurate gospel explanation I have ever heard. By Paul David Washer. https://youtu.be/TXOWyjB7d24
  25. God always knew what the result would be. ",even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved." (Ephesians 1:4-6) The repair process for the mirror begins when we humble ourselves in repentance and faith (sanctification). However, the process is not complete until the end (glorification).
