Al Gore said we only had about 10 years to save the planet back in 2006? Well damn...

Religious Authoritarianism Has America nailed to its Cross
jaybird18c replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
Just checking in to see if anything new and interesting has been discussed in the liberal echo chamber, which is dropzone.com. Of course, the answer is no. As you were. -
Why don't you mind your own Canadian business?

A further hypothesis on the popularity of Trump
jaybird18c replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
You know what I mean. Or...or...we could protect our border, require a legal process, and not reward lawlessness. But...Democrats give away "free stuff." And illegals, therefore, vote Democrat. And liberal politicians want their votes...because all politicians want power...government feeds itself...big government. -

And Biden is sharp as a razor...with a liberal agenda to boot! Who wouldn't want that? Keep spending all that taxpayer (our) money (printed) and running up a debt our great grandkids will never be able to pay so that people can be "taken care of" by "the government" from cradle to grave. Better yet, let's have open borders and do it for anyone who can illegally sneak across our borders...especially those who can squeeze out a baby as soon as they get here! Great plan!! -
Wait... Are you Canadian also?

Blah... Blah... Blah... TRUMP 2024! -
Canadians used to have balls. They partnered up with the US to form the 1st Special Service Force (Devil's Brigade) during WWII to kick the Nazi's asses. The American part of that unit preceded what would eventually become the OSS and the Green Berets. I think the Canadians were all apparently castrated after the unit was disbanded, though.

It seems as though the majority of dropzone.com hates America? How inspiring! I'm not really surprised. It's been that way for a very long time.

Well, he also returned after his death and resurrection to appear to hundreds of witnesses following his crucifixion but who's counting?

This signified not the final coming of Jesus but his coming in judgement on the nation of Israel which did in fact come to pass in A.D. 70. The city and temple were destroyed. The people dispersed. It established the age of the gentiles where the church was no longer just a Jewish community but belonged to anyone who would repent and place their faith in Jesus Christ.

I agree with what you said with regard to death. You said that I didn't. It was confusing.

No. You're correct. That is a preconception. We pre-conceive the floor exists before stepping out of bed every day too. -

They're not my interpretations. I don't understand Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. -

That's an EXCELLENT nonsensical question! NOBODY else has come up with THAT one! Well done! I'm stumped! -
Don't forget my guns!

Your generalizing. And one of the most basic concepts in scripture is the fall of man resulting in his eventual death. How is that not facing the truth?

The idea is NOT to insert your meaning into what an author writes (eisegesis). The idea is to try and understand the author's meaning (exegesis). Considerations include, author's intent, historical setting, audience, grammar, context, etc. -
Some of the really big questions in life, those that really matter, are in fact black and white. Like life or death. Given a long enough timeline, you and I will eventually achieve room temperature. There will be no in between.

Religious Authoritarianism Has America nailed to its Cross
jaybird18c replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
There is constant criticism of the blatant unbiblical deception and hypocrisy in many of the groups you mentioned. There is a difference between "The wheat and the tares." There is a catholic (not the Roman Catholic meaning of the word), universal body of believers, a remnant, those transformed by the power of the gospel, regardless of church or denomination, location, ethnicity, skin color, finance, background, etc. As long as you're satisfied with a verse here and a verse there to support your objections without digging below the surface to understand the theology behind them, you will continue, as I said before, to remain willfully ignorant. That's ok with me because I know you're not really serious in your consideration of the topic anyway. A systematic, comprehensive, and much more reasonable approach is NOT to come to the bible with preconceptions and bias but to listen to the Word of God in all its particulars, in all of its detail, and then try and discern how all of these individual truths fit together.
