  1. You vastly underestimate the allure of a battery operated boyfriend. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  2. Honestly, when visiting the most despotic country in the world DON'T ACT LIKE A FUCKING FRAT-BOY. They've done this before - made a big scene and then commuted the sentence. The dude is eating better than the majority of their population right now and they're having a good time scaring the shit our of him and using him as a bargaining chip in their latest charade. 3. Are you asking if the BSR bothers me or if wingsuiters doing flyby's bother me? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  4. By not including the condition 'under canopy', it requires that wingsuiters must always exit last if students are on the plane (which generally is what happens anyway). Is that really USPA's intent? Why the hell did they specifically include 'under canopy' in the recommendation about licensed skydivers and not include it in the BSR about students? Maybe USPA really does want to prohibit wingsuits from exiting a plane carrying students. Maybe they don't want to expose students to the higher possibility of a tail strike by a wingsuiter. As written, there is no ambiguity. You cannot exit a plane with a wingsuit on if there are students on the plane. That would include any student on the plane who backed out of doing the tandem and wants to ride it down. I don't know if they have actually published the wording of the BSR, but I hope it includes 'under canopy' if their intent is to avoid buzzing. Don't be ridiculous. Nobody thinks this has anything to do with that 3 seconds it takes for a student to drop 500 feet away from the plane while a wingsuiter is still in it or exiting just after (or vice versa). If you have an actual gripe then call/email USPA and suggest they edit the wording. This isn't a foot in the door for some weird anti-wingsuiter agenda. 6. People coming back into the sport after a long time off are at a very high risk of having an accident. There's no way for a DZ school to be able to determine what you've forgotten without covering all the material, especially when it comes to canopy, deployment, and gear knowledge. If you have money for a winter full of coached tunnel time then doing the AFF course shouldn't be an issue. You'll be able to breeze through the stability and maneuvering issues and focus on the rest. Any school that doesn't have you go through the full A-license card is doing you a disservice. 7. This was brought before the board not only because it was starting to happen but because some places were offering it to tandem students for an up-charge. There's absolutely no reason for a wingsuiter to do a flyby on a student except for their own enjoyment, the student is simply incapable of being part of the planning required for it to be safe. As for it being unenforceable, no you can't tell that someone was 490 feet away but you can tell if they were 30 feet away and that's when it becomes an issue. The 500 ft distance was chosen because it's the distance at which a wingsuiter could see a canopy in their path and react to avoid a collision with a few seconds. So the $-talks argument is out the window. 12. Yeah, that's mostly what I'm asking, whether there's an angle you're getting that you otherwise can't get just by being deep and steep. FF definitely helps with closing after exit. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  13. I have to ask, is this giving the student a product that they can appreciate as being better? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  14. As if the country is beyond reproach? There are many gimmicks in place to stop progress; filibusters, vetoes, party affiliated judges, and single choice voting being several of those. Some are checks and balances, some are exploited to just stop things. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  15. The only trouble I've had with many of those is that they don't breath at all. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  16. I agree that ranked choice is the best way to choose the candidate that is most acceptable to most people. Unfortunately consensus has become a dirty word in US politics. Also ranked choice directly conflicts with the "winner take all", "if you aren't #1 you're just a loser" mentality that pervades a lot of American politics and, unfortunately, society. Don "If you ain't first, you're last" - Ricky Bobby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4usE2RePqo It would be an incredible irony if the US voted for several new methods of voting by using a single choice voting system and ended up with the same thing we have. That's progress in America. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  17. I shouldn't have phrased it like that. I'm not talking about winner taking all of the delegates - I'll see if I can change the subject. I'm talking about single choice voting vs. ranked choice voting. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  18. It makes sense in a two party General Election but we're seeing the effect of someone with less than 50% of the vote winning because the other candidates are splitting the vote. It's logical that there will be several candidates with the same point of view in any given election. Aside from someone being more of a socialist or someone being basically a Nazi with a toupe each party has candidates that generally reflect the view of the candidates. Is there a push anywhere to change this? Here's and explanation of Instant Run-off voting, a very well established way to find the best candidate in a field of several similar choices. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting#Runoff_voting "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

  25. You're not going to find many that are both year-round medium to big places AND have beautiful views. I clicked on this to tout http://www.skydiveharborsprings.com/pure-michigan-sky-diving-charlevoix-airport-mi.htm It's a mostly tandem 182 DZ but I've never seen a more beautiful view from the sky.
