  1. And of course he found one "GOTCHA" after your list of 7 regions that disprove his point. Let's continue to the specifics of Glacier National Park where this sign is from and has since been removed. Of their glaciers 11 are no longer considered glaciers because their volume has decrease so much they no longer move. Here is the loss in GNP: https://www.usgs.gov/data-tools/area-named-glaciers-glacier-national-park-gnp-and-flathead-national-forest-fnf-including Here is the global loss in volume. According to Brent's own words, it's climate change. https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-glacier-mass-balance
  2. Out of curiosity, why do you think Michael Jackson was bleaching his skin? What was he trying to accomplish? Edit: You know what, we're just going to run into MJ's claim that he had vitiligo if we use him. And his surgery to go from an wide nose to thin nose, etc has the side story that he was just a strange bird. So, to talk about equating these things, if someone gets made fun of because of their looks that is not OK and I do understand the comparison you're making. People have been denied jobs and ostracized because of their looks and their weight and even for wearing a clownish quantity of makeup. BUT at no point in history have those people been categorically enslaved and killed. No black Kings of England (YET). No Gay Presidents of the United States (YET). No Jewish (Fucking take your pick)... (YET). But there have been ugly, overweight, ill dressed and poorly manicured leaders who got there as a course of merit, luck and privilege. There has been an institutionalized and cultural effort to deny those positions to people based upon their race, religion, ancestry and sexuality. THAT is the difference between a petty joke and bigotry. To get back to the question above. Why would someone want to look more light skinned or hide their parent's religion?
  3. I'm glad you brought this one up so quickly, thought I'd have to keep a mental pin on it for months until you found the famous "glaciers not melting" plaque. So...as you agreed above, "glacial ice volume" is a measure of the rate/existence of global warming, not "A" glacier of your choosing. You can find glaciers that are increasing in volume because there are many that grow with yearly polar vortexes and since the Antarctic region is at a fair equilibrium some shrink there and some grow. So my question to you, do you get that? Do you understand and agree that the global volume of these things is what matters?
  4. That's a good example for this discussion. It's a world of difference to make fun of someone's cosmetic decisions than it is to insult someone as belonging to a race, religion, nationality, or identity that has historically caused their people to be enslaved, murdered en mass, or subjects of institutional bigotry. Turtle, your thoughts on the above?
  5. Yet you can't handle a single momentary facial expression from Hillary Clinton without saying "Thanks for reminding me of on of the reasons she didn't win." "Not that at all. It was the arrogant way she testified. Talk about the ruling class..." You are kidding yourself to think that SHE is is of the ruling class yet Trump is not. The guy who lives in THIS room:
  6. I see it as a picture of someone who took the stand and ruled the room. She batted down the entire farce as a nonsensical waste of time and the expression on her face says it all. IN YOUR WORDS: "A colossal waste of taxpayer money." THAT is the person I want running the country.
  7. By saying he's holding Trump to a different set of standards you appear to be equating them and equating her reaction to a situation that Trump has been in. Yet you don't see his disdain for those proceedings to be a mark against him, just this one photographic moment of skepticism. Not tweetstorms, tirades, Fox News sponsored bashings on interviews. She didn't make petty insults about their looks, their weight, the way they drink water, their sexuality or country of origin, didn't insult their intelligence. She just made a face that showed an intentional and unflappable expression of bored skepticism.
  8. What do you think of the fact that this group of people who to whom she was testifying found no wrongdoing in her actions?
  9. That reminds me of an interview I saw Bill Nie do. It was about solar flares, as in the things that happen on the sun, an object 93.7 million miles away from Earth. The person asked him if it's because of global warming and he had to very politely answer without calling her an idiot.
  10. Just so we can get this agreed upon. Polar ice volume, glacial ice volume, frequency of snowfall are indicators of global warming? These are your words, do you care to confirm that with more specific language. For example is it just snowfall in April or is it volume of snowfall in a region, in the world, over a year, over a season etc?
  11. I know we're just using the Lemmings metaphor in the context of it being a metaphor but I'd like to point out that it's an urban legend. They don't actually jump off cliffs in a response to overcrowding.
  12. Wait....so the gas price fallout from coronavirus is proof that global warming doesn't exist?
  13. I know. Because people believed the bullshit accusations about her. It's really incredible how easily people can be misled.
  14. I love this "Stop wasting my time" face.
  15. But wait, I thought proof of global warming hinges upon cycles like winter, el nino/la nina, and ocean current cycles not happening. We've been hoodwinked.
  16. Even though this was said in sarcasm I can say with confidence that her response would be better. Trumps approach is to see what happens and react to the fallout. Hillary is a seasoned politician who trusts and acts on the information and advice she's given. I know we can say that "no one" is far fetched but it's fair to say that we'd be ahead by a few weeks.
  17. You should check out all the voodoo and witchcraft posts that just showed up for help with your alternate reality news.
  18. I think they will need to debate at least once before the election and I think it'll be very painful to watch.
  19. Ha, I don't think that replacing a President who reminds us with Idiocracy with one who is an actual WWE star is a good move.

The legend has certainly grown. I'll put it on par with pushing a suggestion that we should buy Greenland (caused diplomatic riff resulting in cancelled talks), nuking hurricanes (simply stupid), windmills causing cancer (deliberate misinformation), water filled moats on the Southern border with alligators and spiked walls (they actually pursued estimates but probably not on the reptiles)... the list goes on. He says shit like this so don't get mad when he gets shot down immediately, just enjoy the memes.
  21. This is the second place I've seen the bit come up and it's said in ignorance that our enemies will say whatever they can to harm our country. There is no good-faith reason to echo insults hurled by the perpetrator of the most horrible terrorist attack ever committed against the United States.
  22. I don't think it's ridiculous. That bit of script was picked up year and years ago and is now being touted as propaganda against Biden from the mouth of Osama Bin Laden. To be clear THIS IS PROPAGANDA FROM THE MOUTH OF OSAMA BIN LADEN. Do you really want to echo this source as being legitimate to the goals of the United States of America?

No, he didn't recommend it. He did what's called "floating it". He floated a stupid fucking idea that shows no understanding and comes out of thin air and in effect is wasting everyone's time. He got shot down and shot down really fucking quickly because of how dumb of an idea this was. The first people to shoot it down were the reporters in the audience, the next was whoever took the podium next and finally the next day he did himself by saying he was just saying it to get a reaction. Fortunatelly this didn't get to the stage of the incorrect things he said during his state of the union which caused panic at airports and with trading partners and had to be clarified by official Whitehouse announcements and it didn't go as far as his push for hydroxychloroquine which wasted a lot of time and resulted in one person in charge of it's testing being fired over his protests. The system worked.
