National protests against Minneapolis police murderers?
DJL replied to normiss's topic in Speakers Corner
FOUR. SECOND. CLIP. Looks like he was pissed at someone, that doesn't he decided to flash a white supremacy symbol. -
1. The penalty for looting is not death. 2. There's a world of difference between protecting your own property and the police using lethal force to stop someone from committing an act that would only be penalized by fines and minor prison time. When that escalates to an act that may kill people it's a different story.

Maybe he was saying OK. -

Speaking specifically of this cop, there's no indication as to his intent. You can't automatically say it was a white power symbol any more than you can say someone raising their arm at an angle is a Nazi salute. Even if they're standing in front of crowd of people protesting against Nazis. -

So they came up with something after the fact? My point stands and it's proven, these guys set out to show how people could be fooled into reacting towards them and believing that a previously innocuous symbol is somehow tied to white nationalism just by repeating it a few times. Right now I'm also reading articles and shaking my head about all the people who have gotten in trouble because some do-gooder said they were trying to make a white nationalist symbol when they were just saying Ok or doing the finger circle game. The nazis won on this one. -

Sorry but that's a 4 second clip, there's nothing you can draw from that video enabling you to conclude he meant it as a statement of racism. -

It was brought up as a joke by a group of online white nationalists to see if they could get liberals to start saying that the OK symbol was a white power symbol. They were successful. You may now see white nationalists using it and thus perpetuating that notion. A cop (or USNA/USMA students) making the OK symbol in no way is a reference to the white power movement. It has no individual meaning, there's no O and K or Zero and Three symbology that represents something about white nationalism. -
Nothing about this is a protest. (NSFW Racial Expletives)

Absolutely NOT. The OK sign was NOT appropriated into white power symbolism. That was an online joke that somehow got legs. -
I think you're a bit hung up on the version of this from The Crown. Churchill very correctly wished to suppress a portfolio that was put together for the purposes of causing the most damage possible to a person who at the time remained as a valuable diplomatic asset and representative of the country as Europe recovered from the war. The US opinion of the folder was that they were valueless propaganda and part of the reason they allowed their release is that they thought the public would ultimately see the accusation as threadbare. Don't forget that it was the GERMAN ambassador who said Edward leaked the invasion plan. There otherwise was little doubt that the English aristocracy was firmly entwined with the Germans, many of whom enabled and supported the Nazis.

That's what I'm referring to, what he said yesterday via his own Twitter account AND the official White House account.

And by the way, while we're talking about Trump and dealing with speech and civil unrest he just offered to send the military to kill looters. In any other world or discussion a Patriot like you would call for immediate mobilization as permitted by the 2nd Amendment because of the very mention of the President calling for the US MILITARY to kill civilians for anything short of terrorism or an intent to use lethal force against a US target.

That picture is hilarious. Internet forum spec ops, no badges or insignia for security purposes and I'm pretty sure those are energy drinks.

And do you know how many birds would've died if they were equivalently sized wind farms!?!?!?!?!?
-
Japan will be relieved to know so many fewer people died from the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nukes.

Oh boy, that's some real masterminding you just pulled on Kallend.

I know about those. We also had/have pipelines and coal trains under construction for our continued use of those things. Australia still was mining/mines a shit-ton of coal even as their country burns. I'm driving to work in car that burns fuel. We were/are building more nuke capability in the middle of every nuke treaty.

We abandoned our diplomatic effort to create worldwide agreements regarding emissions.

They used to be. Do you know what changed?

Yup, there are entire cities that China built and are just sitting there vacant. I think we all agree that China isn't a very good example to follow.

Is it Time for an Alex Jones reckoning for Donald trump?

Got it. You're talking more about the general libel laws than Trump's recent statements about forcing social media platforms to not be able to point out false information. -

To be clear, the thing is that the platforms don't take action against lies, they take action against intentionally misleading political claims. That's why his post about mail-in votes was tagged and this posts about Lori Klausutis are not. -
There were about 150 people who got a big enough dose that it's well established that the resulting cancer is what they'll die of but I agree with your point. Even in the worst case scenario the resulting deaths are way below anything caused by burning fossil fuels. I take those previous instances to be lessons on what we should and shouldn't do since nuke energy certainly needs to be more prevalent regardless of the additional life-cycle costs. If you look at it as a system of power then going to the cheapest renewable can have the same sort of drawbacks as going to the cheapest fossil fuel power plant.

Sounds like we're seeing more of the upside of climate change! Fuck yeah! Winning! Anyway, I'm not familiar with that claim and had to look it up. National Geographic says there's never been sufficient data available to make a claim that they're increasing in the long term and in the short term they appear to be decreasing as global warming disturbs the type of very specific conditions needed to create them. https://www.nationalgeographic.org/article/tornadoes-and-climate-change/
