I'm coo coo for coco puffs..... Cereal Restaurant, WTF?
nanook replied to Buried's topic in The Bonfire
I think it will be a hit. But it would have to be in a busy morning foot traffic downtown area. I think the good part of the profit would come from the simplicity and low overhead. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
While the price hikes are market driven, the lag in price drops have more variables. It's caused by consumer behavior. Consumers don't search for better prices when prices are falling or even stabilizing, only when the prices start to rise. Also, contractors' locked in rates among other things and futures. Gas is sold with the fact that the present stock that was bought cheaper yesterday has to be replaced by more expensive stock tomorrow. Going in reverse, it's going to have a lag as since the previous price was more expensive. also demand increases because of cheaper prices so it also slows the price's descent. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Yup, This is why I was a little worried. I hate the possibility of waiting in line for gas. Some people may forget Hawaii. They definitely forgot New York when some idiot here tried to pass a rent-control bill in San Diego. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

If what you say is true, then there's defintely some sort of finance fraud going around. You seem to have some proof. Call up the IRS and have them investigate the 1120's at the time. You might find the discrepencies in the schedule "L"s and among other forms. Any of that money ends up in his hands that didn't come from any personal asset sales, then i'll beleive the above quoted. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I would call it successful. biggest assets of businessmen are connections after all. Coming from a rich and powerful family will help out a businessman, but a powerful family alone will not be enough for anyone. Whats left takes a strong business sense and entrepeneurship. Pop can't do that. It is evident in the many venture capitalists and other financiers that most of his finance came from everybody but "dad". _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Oil is not an anonymous business. Everyone knows everyone. Of course there is going to be connections and "buddies". The bailout proved to provide collateral and success in other future ventures that made him the millionaire he is today. You may claim his oiler days was a bust, but his buyout was a win-win situation that would make him rich later. He failed in Oil, but so far he had more successes than failures overall. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Sounds like the typical entrepeneur. Wouldn't be the first failed businessman president. He actually made a fortune on these failed attempts though, so it would depend on what one would consider "success". _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I like the myth he created about Harvard having a "Symbology" program, or even a "symbologist" profession being treated as prestigious or even real. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

relating to your attachments, I think this would be good advice. . . from the same guy you quoted. I can't remember where, But years age I've read a report on the contigency plans about these situations. This is a common topic when the Prez visits foreign countries. He or She may be declared under arrest. I think some author wrote a book about this contingency too. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

A question I have asked was to the effect: "Why is it so important to have an afterlife?" "Is it really so bad not to have one?" You definitely will not know that there's no afterlife if it doesn't exist after all. Why is one so afraid of not existing anymore? Personally, i have always had a problem with the "afterlife" concept. If you are a spirit or a soul, why would one spend some time in a body? Seems wasteful and unproductive, considering anything you can learn can be learned without "coming to earth". Soul created at conception? So this is the Cosmic Pupae stage of something bigger. Trial stage to see if you are going to end up in the Kindom of Heaven or be destroyed for not meeting the standards required for being one of God's people: A bad product discarded coming off the assembly line. The latter is the impression I get from afterlife religions. Or does one feel they need Imortality? Can any of you can name your great-great-great gandfather? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Okay. . .Just remember though. Those type of films aren't looking for "answers". The author found questions that served him. Anybody that has taught a body of people knows how to use questions to steer people into their intended line of thinking. If you look hard enough, you can find a link between anything and then create a "Bridge question". _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
