Have you ever paid cash for a brand new car?
nanook replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in The Bonfire
Man, who the hell would finance a 60,000 vehicle for more than a few years?? I think the most I have ever seen someone make a single "cash" purchase was my Girlfriend when she put $130,000 for a down payment for her home. It was part of an inheritance. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

So. Do we execute THESE kinda guys for desertion?

This is the actual trial of the International Military Tribune. What you have quoted was a definition of "agression" that will be used for the purpose of the Trial. This Trial was before some of the proposals to define "Agression" in which USSR contributed. It would change as time went. An order has to be proven illegal against a legal document. The war is not illegal because some dot-org or some website/blog says it is. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

The UN is not a governing body. Its rules are what is considered for what is required to be a member. The International Court will not try any government body or head of state for the purpose of politics. There are stipulations that protect our leaders from that _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

Just to be on the right page, you are referring to the USSR proposal of the Possibility and Desirability of a Definition of Aggression of 378B of 17 nov 1950? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

The Nuremberg trials dealt with the International Military Tribunal, not the UN But he wasn't allowed to. He doesn't have a right to protest _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

This is way too early to consider him a hero. Heroism takes History. This quote doesn't work if the "vision and courage" side loses . If the U. S. failed at the Revolution, we would have been branded as traitors, not heroes. If the Confederate won and seceded, they would have been Heroes, not pink-flamingo dotted trailer park dwellers. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

Absolutely agree, 100%. The days of the draft and the "military or jail" are over... CO has no reason to exist anymore with a volunteer force. Wow. This has never even occured to me that a CO would have been Draft derivative. It's been tried at least three times here in the Volunteer Navy alone since the War (sad thing, they were usually cooks or some type of admin that would never have left the safety of a ship). I guess the phrase has been used in the wrong way. What happened to a CO in Vietman? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

My opinion was based on what would really happen to this tick-turd rather than what he deserves (like Leavenworth). I'm not too keen to the Officer side as far as the UCMJ, but an "OTH" for this behavior is actually not too uncommon. We have had Contientious Objectors before. At worst, they do Brig time. This type of behavior usually isn't enough of a felony thus Leavenworth (both are the standard for a "dishonorable" discharge) It sucks, but this Asshole will at worst get a Bad Conduct discharge. Personally, I think Leavenworth would only serve to protect himself from his inevitable self destructive behavior. His dd-214 is already going to keep him out of good jobs. I say, allow the military let him fall on his ass; punish himself. It'll be a lot cheaper than paying tax dollars to shelter and feed him. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -

Naaah. Just give him a "Other than Honorable" discharge and move on. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
I'll read it because my interest is now perked. But, I get the feeling based on excerpts from the book and reviews: It's the economic version of the "Da vinci Code". Facts scewered to make a good book and some common conspiracy theories. There is something said, I don't know if it's in this particular book, about the World bank lending out a huge sum of money and when the country defaults, the Bank institutes hard punishment for the purpose of putting the U. S. in a position to institute forced change in our favor. This is a common conspiracy theory and totally false. It's all backwards. Before a country can borrow from the World Bank(it is going to be a member country first, which means it pays into the Bank) the Country has to abide by the rules set out first There's no reason to lend out money to a country if it can't pay it back. Probably the best example of this was the Asian Economic Crisis a few years ago. Of course there is debate on the set rules doled out; it being too much change for a country, the changes may strip cultural way of doing business. . .ect, ect. It is one of the missions of the World Bank to convert third-world countries into open-market economies. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Okay. Put down the Ovaltine Decoder, Richard Langdon. I'm pretty sure your secret society will find a deep rooted ancient secret if you piece the right set of key-word or phrases correctly. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

This is central to the whole argument in the first place. With the IMM and the Eurex trading, what money is out there is the one being the strongest. Lose confidence, people start hedging said currency and it devalues. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

This may be hard as at this moment, only the Iraqi Dinar is a floating exchange rate. Others, such as Jordan and Bahrain, are pegged to the U. S. Dollar. Both those contries may have to float their money if they want to trade oil in dinars. This is changing, as the EU are working from being an Economic Union to a Politcal Union. As far as no constitution and little cohesion, they have a pretty complex and still evolving political structure which is the European Council, council of Ministers the EU Commision and the EU Parliment and their own Court of Justice. They are doing really good for themselves. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Maybe you didn't come off as cocky to the ladies on your experiment. Maybe you came off as confident and a good dude to boot. It's hard to hide one's good side, Women pick that shit up quickly. Sometimes I think in some cases people who call other guys cocky tend to look how they treat them rather than how they treat women and judge them in a not so unbiased view. . . Sometimes. Women do not like jerks. a lot of the times, that means, they don't like men who are jerks to them. And, sometimes they dont see their boyfriends as being total jerks to other guys, but seeing them being annoyed by a total pussy or annoying twerp. And there are women who don't lile any type of jerk. Ask your girl why she likes you.

That's funny. In a sense, it still kind of means the same today: "I'd like to hit that!!" "She Bangs!!" _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

We have a lot of "subluxation" type chiropractors here in the U. S. They won a Restraint of Trade lawsuit against the AMA years ago and tend to think the suit provides proof of their legitimacy. They play the conspiracy theory style victimization and many people buy it. A good number, however, have moved to using it as complimentary therapy and lower back pain treatment, but there is still some that make wild claims. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Yeah, me too. But. probably one of the best business/entrepeneur strategies is asking: "How can I make people lazier?" _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
and when oil prices are cheaper. If you graph it, prices vs. time/date you can see the price of oil and price at the pump swap and invert on the downturn(drop in price) as a result of buying for the future. They don't have a choice. If a company wants to go bankrupt, it can choose to not allow its price to decrease and lose its customers to cheaper places(Game Theory stuff). As said before, another cause of the lag is driven by consumers, not the companies. market raises prices ahead of the curve, market, consumer behavior lags behind on the descent. In free market societies, it is very rare for a business, especially in perfect competition or oligopolies, to be the price pushers. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

We use water now to power our submarines and aircraft carriers. I guess we need more technology to find a way to harness turbines to provide efficient stop and go type use and to be cheap at that. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

To me, this is synonymous with create an extreme lean mixture in the fuel/air mixture thus making less use of the gas. The only difference is pretty words. He wasn't more fuel efficient because of his HHO, it was because he leaned out his gas. They used to do this in the mid 1900's to trick people into buying miracle fuel efficient add-ons. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
