[I]"Please put me back in the water."

I vote for this one . All those $350 carbon fiber helmets out there. Yet, a lowly Benny or Protek provides better impact protection than any of 'em that I've handled ...
-
I'd sent out three lengthy e-mails to my State legislators. As expected, I've only received two automatic responses acknowledging my queries... The third's office doesn't even bother to have auto-response e-mails enabled. I've since heard boo from any of them. Worthless TROGs...
-
First jump @45...
-
Thanks again, & you didn't insult my intelligence. Washington is just one, big cesspool, S far as I'm concerned. I wasn't sure how many TROGs I needed to write to. I kept it nice. I'll be surprised at getting any kind of decent reply, though.
-
Would you please re-post the link to finding our State Congressmen? I can't find that USPA e-mail. Thanks.
-
I was joking, Lee. It's a wiseguy thing .

I'm over Forty. If the strap is too high. It smooshes my boobs...

I have an Optima mounted in a Benny. All I used, was a little bit of good quality velcro. It holds the Audible very securely. Yet, I can peel it out in a second to change the batteries.
-
Thank You. That isn't the one was thinking of.

There's going to be A LOT of inflammation surrounding your sinuses & nasal airways. Jumping from 2.5 miles up involves strong pressure changes. Jumping before you're completely healed would be a VERY foolish N painful thing to do... I'd give it longer than two weeks, personally.

The King Air crashed due to pilot error, the pilot shut down the good engine instead of the failed one. Can't friggin' blame that on maintenance. You can blame the engine dying on lack of MX ...but not the crash, King Airs fly pretty well on one engine, as long as the pilot doesn't shut it down. Without the lack of MX, the engine would not have died. If the engine had not if died, the plane would not have crashed. So to claim no plane has crashed due to the bad MX from Dause is false. You can try to play semantics all day. But Dause's lack of MX has caused a crash. I may be confusing two separate incidents regarding the King Air. Was it the '92 Perris Otter, or that King Air, where the engine-kill switches were reversed? Causing the pilot to kill the good engine by mistake.

[B]"in any case i could care less." Ditto... You're comparing apples & oranges w/that airline analogy. Go argue w/someone who cares.
-
I never intended to jump there. This thread is for the OP's friend. Now, she can make an informed decision Problem solved...
-
*** Ever jump at Perris? No. Why? They've got an excellent reputation. Now... You guys are referring to the '92 crash? No one was using seatbelts back then. The FAA changed that after that horrible crash. For over twenty years, every conscientious DZO has enforced their use. Lodi's hasn't... The Perris crash was caused by using a backup fuel truck, following a quake the previous evening. The fuel's not having been run through a filter got past them. That was an extremely unfortunate oversight. It was NOT a systemic, flagrant disregard for safety & maintenance procedures. I'd jump @ Perris w/o hesitation. NFW I'd ever get in a plane @Lodi. They've a history of willfully endangering their customer's lives to increase profits... Even if I were willing to accept their word that they're actually maintaining the planes, now? They still endangered Jumpers who had put their trust in that DZ. That's inexcusable conduct. You do what you want.

[I]Not Shmaht... For several weeks as a student, I jumped when I could barely walk from a bad ankle sprain. I got away w/it, but it was a stupid thing to do. A sprained Ankle is vulnerable to being injured more seriously. You're also more apt to screw up your good leg. I can't say not to do it, when I did. I can warn you it's not the brightest thing to do, though. What's the rush? The season is just getting started. Hurt yourself worse, & you'll be out of commission for MONTHS. No time to jump for the next month? Great. Heal your Ankle, & return to the sky when you're ready. It really isn't going anywhere...
-
And you have jumped at Lodi exactly how many times? Irrelevant... I'll never jump there. Not after what the DZO pulled there.
-
That would be a foolish choice, but knock yourself out...
-
W/all due respect, Pete. What good is new gear if the wings fall off the frackin plane? What Lodi did may never be able to be lived down.

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise
PiLFy replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Drunk Drivers are no laughing matter. They're a threat to the rest of us. This sack O'Nastiness isn't any threat. She has no legal leg to stand on. It's not that I don't hear ya on the sometimes hostile environments DZs have to operate in. I just don't see the need to waste any concern over a garden-variety arrogant twit w/a big mouth. Let her run her mouth for twenty years. She'll get nowhere w/her vendetta. Those will be twenty years she isn't hassling some other innocent group. We're big enough to let her rage against us. Think of it as a community service. -

Why would she annoy you? She's just a typical loudmouthed, clueless, Jackwagon. How many times have you had to deal w/such a fool? In this case, there's no threat from her antics. She's just a nasty (& yes, pitiable) sourpuss. Sit back, grab some popcorn, & watch her bat her thick head against the wall. Lots of annoying Jackwagons need their asses kicked. Hell, this one is doing it to herself . -

Dunno why you guys all want that Jackwagon to shut up. Personally, I find her insisting on beating her head against the wall, to be quite amusing ... -
Just in case you're considering Square One's GoPro mount. Those mounts are not the same. They won't work w/the Hero3s.

Is this not the same incident: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4432324;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread That accusation has already been made, then. I wouldn't want to sling mud where it didn't belong. That said. There is a palpable fear of being taken out by some Wild Child... If it is proven that someone flagrantly disregards the safety of others by say, strafing through the pattern under a ridiculously small wing? Then yes, there should be consequences. Attempt to kill me w/your car, & you're gonna have problems. Same rules would apply for virtually any other method you might employ. Why would you feel this would be OK?
