  1. +1 on this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Monkey-Fist-Skydiving-Parachute-Handle-60-Paracord-Colors-/330757677310?_trksid=p4340.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D444000%26algo%3DSOI.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D13%26meid%3D951157032378216152%26pid%3D100012%26prg%3D1022%26rk%3D1%26 Michelle (?) makes them well, & sells them at a reasonable price.
  2. This... Better if you can sneak online during work in the mornings. Most of the good deals are gone by the afternoon.
  3. "so breathing compressed air will not increase your risk of getting bent." WTF?!
  4. Bad idea. Go get your shoulder evaluated. You want it to pop out at the worst time? Save the rigging for the riggers. Make sure you're OK, first.
  5. Perhaps they read about this expedition? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Shackleton

  7. Many here would say that's a poor choice you made about the camera. I'm afraid to ask what wing loading you're jumping right now. I will say this to you, though. A gal did a balloon jump last year. She ended up having to try & land in a small backyard. She got hurt very badly. She should've died (damn near did). Dunno where you'll be jumping, but hope there are a lot of wide open spaces around. Good Luck...
  8. In all seriousness. It sounds like you did pretty darn good, to me. Have you ever watched the first-jump vids on Youtube??? Many of them are absolute train wrecks. You were alt.aware, & pulled on time. Those are the two most important tasks you had. You also pulled off an off landing w/o injury. Many students wouldn't have been able to. You got the big stuff. You'll get the small stuff on the next one. Celebrate. Go buy everyone some beer.
  9. I think you should point out to the OP that English isn't your first language. It's more like your fourth ...
  10. I didn't know you're an English teacher, Carsten.

    EG Jumpsuits

Really? The sound of the Ads of theirs I've seen primarily on E-bay sound cheesy. OK. I stand corrected.
  12. "The parachute is capable of being deployed at Mach 2.2 and can generate up to 289 kN (65,000 pounds) of drag force in the Martian atmosphere." Wow... Must have one Hell of a slider on it. Ouch !

    EG Jumpsuits

This is reminding me of that suit manufacturer in Central America, somewhere (Peru?). Don't remember the name. He was pretty active on E-bay for a time. He made nice-looking suits...that fell apart almost as soon as you started jumping them. They were hopeless after about fifty jumps. Those who had bought them thought they were saving money, too. A lot of expertise goes into making a good quality suit. Bev RW suits start at around $265. You're taking a big roll of the dice using an unknown. Even if it works out reasonably well. You won't be saving much. Your money_your choice.
  14. I met an engineer who is working on this project. It's no joke. He said the probe is about the size of a Mini Cooper. A heavy one... I believe it touches down in August. One way or the other...
  15. Here is UPT's alternate bridal routing link: http://unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Support/Sport/ALTERNATIVE_MAIN_CONTAINER_CLOSING_TIP_INSTRUCT-027_Rev-0.pdf Dunno. Maybe it's my inexperience talking, but it seems extremely rare (& more of a fluke). 3-4 million skydives per year since '09, & only six confirmed instances of this? I'm hesitant to start monkeying around w/my bridal's routing, yet. It makes me wonder if these six jumpers were mashing their rigs against the bulkheads on the way up. What do the old dawgs say?
  16. hmmm... That's not really my idea of fun, thanks! Accept that which you cannot change... Yer landings are gonna suck for a while, anyway. Ya might as well laugh at them.
  17. Doing front flips & wagon wheels while landing is kinda fun, too . At least in the beginning.
  18. Yes sadly that's me. Still working on it! You know the center two will get frayed around the edges. The others look just fine. So would it be ok just to replace the center two? Not like these things cost all that much! Wha??? How & why would you use a pullup cord for your locking stows, Shah? Don't tell me your fingers are too weak to pull the rubberband? You jumping big dacron lines? You're not double-wrapping the locking stows w/dacron lines? Are you?
  19. Bummer. I like the Seven, mainly for the reserve design. I was unaware of this issue. Thank you.
  20. Sorry about your shoulder. Unfortunately, some students don't make it through to a license without injury. My fifth ever jump caused leg & back injuries that gimped me out for almost a year. I was afraid throughout AFF, & beyond. Though, it gradually lessened as I gained knowledge & confidence. Your shoulder has already been given a clean bill of health. I'd suggest telling your instructors about your fears. Learn more about the equipment before you jump again. Shoulder injuries do happen in this sport. There are ways to limit the risks of that. Talk to your instructors. BTW, nice job on not freaking out when your shoulder came undone. Some students would've lost it & tumbled out of control. Welcome Back.
  21. I read your posts. They make me sad...for you. How quickly we forget. Forget what?? I have NEVER said anything in this manner, with this vigor about ANY one else EVER!!! I stand my ground. You want to stick up for a moron ? More power to ya. How many people ask a question about a jump 2 years ago when they don't jump the gear anymore, then blame the gear? wtf? Personal Attacks are personal Attacks. No excuse. Your posts should be deleted, & you should get some much-deserved time off. Pops, & several others here, are right. Too bad the mod following this thread forgot the rules...
  22. Demos @105 jumps? W/non-standard equipment to add to it???
  23. I'm sorry a few small minds are attacking you here, Shah. I'm sure you pay them no mind. I agree w/others here in suggesting you take a canopy course. This, & a couple other questions of yours show some gaps in your basic knowledge. I'd hate like Hell to read about you one day in the Incident forum... $200 is a lot cheaper than breaking your leg again, right?
