  1. "I don't think any human anywhere, ever should be killed by any other human, ever." OK, start a thread about that. This one is just on the drug question the OP asked.
  2. Big Pharm kills people every day. They do it in the name of profits. I think you give them far too much moral superiority. Any drug from those categories can be substituted. Some might work a little better, or be cheaper, but they'll all get the job done. It's not drug efficacy. It's not the higher ethical constraints of an industry that lets many thousands of AIDS patients, for example, die to protect their profit margins within the Western world. They'd back-door in whatever drugs the different States wanted. No. It's the bureaucratic BS. The DP is a hot potato, politically. Lots of others agree w/those here who want a pain-free death to make them feel superior to the trash. Maybe they tell themselves the white lie of not feeling any sense of vengeance? Sorry, separate debate... Under the table deals w/certain pharmaceutical companies? Unwillingness of the Pols to address the issue in any way, especially in an election year? My money is on those types of reasons. The others simply don't make sense. Sorry if that rambles a bit. Running on very little sleep, here.
  3. "Now why wouldn't this work in LA or NY?" Apparently, cuz Quade told them to throw out The Constitution ...
  4. "The only thing that proves is your attention span." Right back atchya, SkyDud... I watched the whole vid out of curiosity a while later, & saw nothing to change my opinion of his bias, or yours.
  5. When I'd just gottenmy A. I found the Pulse to be easier to land. The flatter glide makes timing the flare easier. Do you not have the opportunity to jump it? Contact Mirage to see if it would be too small for your container. My Main is a size smaller for my container. I like it, as it makes packing easier.
  6. Dunno bout that. I bought a Mossburg years ago. They'd just been awarded a huge contract from the military. It was big & clunky. It proved unreliable. One guy @a skeet range routinely dumped a round out through the bottom of the receiver when cycling the action... I got rid of mine, & have never purchased another one.
  7. FWIW, I've about 50-60 jumps on a Pulse, & 100+ on a Sabre2. The Sabre2 opens off-heading on virtually every jump. That does get annoying, sometimes. The end cells are also always not inflated. That's also easy to deal with.Other than that, the openings are fine. The Pulse opens on-heading, & smoother/softer. I would've bought one, but found a good deal on a Sabre2, first. The Pulse does fly flatter. It's also easier to pack. No one has addressed why you're looking to buy w/only 7 jumps under your belt. Have you run this by your instructors? You should. It's too easy to buy gear that's either inapropriate, or unecessary. Were I in the market, now. I'd choose a Pulse. Mainly, for the sweet openings, & ease of packing. Good Luck.
  8. "Viewed across its entirety, I don't believe the doco had a strong opinion for or against the DP at all." Fair Enough. I'm not interested in watching the entire thing. He comes across as being pretty biased against the DP. He wants to make the deaths pain-free. I don't. There are plenty of ways to kill a person. They're cheap, fast, & highly effective. If Bureaucratic BS is in the way? Move it...
  9. Again, the Benny's shell only comes in one size. The Liner determines sizing. Ordering a larger size will only yield a thinner liner... I've a size large, & have plenty of room on one side for the Optima. An extra large Benny might be too tight, as the liner is thinner.
  10. You really are too funny. As for the rest of the nonsense, watch this and then get back to me. It might shed a different light on where and how I formed my opinion. (Its also pretty interesting). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbAmu3DXk5c I just watched ten minutes of that vid. Political propaganda from a politician? What a surprise... It only proves that politician's agenda, & yours.
  11. Here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4581656;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Would you like some Mustard w/that?
  12. You've got a short memory. TheUK was quite the global bully for hundreds of years. Get off your high horse, & look in the mirror. If you'd observe the obvious disconnect between US citizens, & our totally out of control govt. That would be nice, too...
  13. Wrong. Man, take it up w/someone else. I'm going to bed.
  14. As per the OP, we're not arguing the death penalty. He's curious about the efficacy of alternative methods.
  15. My guess would be its being controlled by bureaucracy. The Drugs are expensive. The personnel needed are also not cheap. Most of us know how much cheaper common hardball is. I personally still prefer the rope. An added bonus of which, is the rope being reusable. But, no. The hypocrisy of some, needing to think they're more civilized than an animal who murdered innocents. Lethal injection is designed to be painless & humane. The Inmate is first rendered unconscious, before stopping their breathing & heart. It's only when they use incompetent staff who screw up the IVs, that you hear of painful deaths. Clearly, Human history is full of alternate methods which are more effective.
  16. Hello, & Thank You. So, a Lockdown = a twisted riser where the three rings are blocked from releasing as designed?
  17. "If that's the case, I apologize for interrupting your circle jerk with information." As argumentative & malicious as this Forum can be, sometimes you find a pearl ...
  18. [I]"2. The white loop cam break because of "lockdown" or mis-assembly, especially on tandem systems. (This happens dozens of times a year.)" Sir, You just scared this Newbie. What exactly is a "Lockdown"? Thank You.
  19. Chutingstar has Bennies for only $39, right now. Same price as a Protek, & I'd argue better protection, too.
  20. Everybody's got an opinion... Fair enough. Didn't know they offered a D-ring for the reserve. He could nick the hardware some other ways through inexperience. The Curve is a very pretty rig. Give it the standard Noob
  21. The supplied 3M tape mounts are very strong. I like the camera, but never liked the snag hazard it presents. FWIW, I use one of these: http://www.chutingstar.com/skydive/square-one-gopro-top-mount I've seen them slightly trimmed down w/a Dremel to accommodate the GP3. The result is very professional looking. Enjoy your new toy
  22. That's a lot of container for a Newbie, Max. Some thoughts: **There's no D-ring handle for the reserve. During a malfunction, fully articulated Harnesses can shift the handles around your torso, a lot. Especially for a new, scared jumper facing your sudden first cutaway? That could get you hurt/killed. **They've got hip & chest articulations. Put a gouge in one of those shiny pieces of metal, & you'll be replacing harness part$... You could do that during a rough landing, or simply mishandling it, elsewhere. **There are lots of nice embroidery & color options for that rig. Being your first rig, you will be making quite a few lousy landings as you face new situations. You'll be doing your share of tumbling & sliding in it. Rocks, mud, & tarmac can make quite a mess. Fifty jumps from now, that nice new container isn't gonna look so nice N new. You're probably going to tear it up. **Most likely, you'll be wanting to downsize your main after another 50-100 jumps. You might be able to do that w/a Curve, but may not be happy w/the new fit. It appears that most other containers would better tolerate a downsizing (look less scrunched up/deformed w/a smaller main in them.). **They're only sized for up to a 170. Even if possible, you wouldn't want to be cursing & fussing at every pack job. Your packing is already probably challenging enough. **Are the VC4s even shipping, yet? **You're going to take a big hit on depreciation when reselling it. Now, contrast all the above points w/the following: You could buy a used container that still looks nice, & is perfectly safe. Jump it for 100-200 jumps, & then resell it for about the same amount you bought it for. You'd save thousand$, while learning your personal preferences in gear. If it was just the extra money, & you had it to burn? I'd say go enjoy it. The safety considerations give me pause, though. Talk to your instructors at the DZ. They know your current level of needs, best. Good Luck w/whatever you decide.
  23. I have an older style Benny, & an Optima2. There's plenty of room w/a size large liner. The Helmet size determines liner thickness w/the Benny. The Shell only comes in one size. The new version has actual pockets for Audibles. I simply stuck some velcro on the back of mine. You'll be able to hear it just fine. I have mine facing backwards in the helmet (sound hole facing away from my ear), & its volume turned down to less than half. Even while wearing earplugs, I always hear it loud N clear. I'm not an instructor. Talk to yours at the DZ about this. Audibles are great. So long as you don't become 100% reliant on them. They are back-up devices.
  24. Grab a Benny from Chutingstar. They're a great helmet @full price. I've had one for years (old liner style), & have never regretted it. I would argue that it offers significantly more protection than that Bonehead you're also considering.
