I really don't think that 42 is the ultimate answer and heres why. When you take 42 and divide it by the pestacio number being 83.826623 and add 1/23 of that to the square root when doubled, you see that it doesn't even come close to the 42. But when you take 43 and subtract it by 3rds, only when adding 17 do we see that it is divisible by 9. I think its pretty obvious here that the real answer is Michael Richards. Get it? Sorry wingnut. I do know the difference I just wasn't thinking when I typed it in. Opps! Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Greg, its true that when you're subterminal it takes longer for your main to open, but this is more in just time than distance. After all, it takes you longer to fall the same distance subterminally, therefore it takes your main just that length of time to open, which puts it at about the same position. Wow! I think I just confused myself. Don't go for your reserve from 2.5 or even 2. If it were much lower then I would say whip it out. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Hey JKA, whats wrong with your picture? It doesn't seem to show up. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

What is the lowest hop 'n pop that you would voluntarily do? I have done one from 2,5 and that was pretty freaky. Next thing I new I was setting up my landing approach. I don't think I would go any lower than 2, unless I had too. But then again, if the pilot says get out at 1,000, I'm gone. Just curious. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Hahaha!!! Good one skreamer!! I'm sure you will fit in nicely Erica. Don't worry about anyone on here. They are pretty much harmless, for the most part. But then again I have never seen any of them skydive. Welcome! Safe landings, Alex D-23912

That doesn't sound to hard to get a 6-way linked exit out of a Otter. I have often heard people say that the best way is to put as many people outside as you can. Make sure your floaters can float, and your divers can dive. Good luck. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Breaking your collar bone sucks. I did mine skiing last year. Have fun doing your army stuff. See you soon man. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

The truth is in the mind of the acceptably stupid people. If you realise that you don't know anything you actually no more than everyone else. This is how Socrates thought. There are some things that man will probably never know like why this post was begun to begin with. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

That is a superb idea mountainman!! I might give it a shot. But I don't want to turn to the dark side and become a weather man. Oh well. Maybe some day they will get it right. Hahaha!!!! I can't believe I just said that! That was a good one. Anyways, I say to just use your best judgement and completely ignore the weather guys. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Weather you get addicted depends on you. There are several methods you can choose to go skydiving. Your best bet would probably be to do a tandem for your first jump. This is where you ride along with a professional tandem instructor to experience freefall. This costs anywhere from $149 to $269, it just depends on the drop zone and if you want video. You could choose AFF which is the newest way to learn how to skydive. Its pretty expensive but well worth it if you intend on becoming a regular skydiver. Then there is static-line which most new timers are scared of. This is what I did. Its the old method of training. Let me be the first to tell you that its completely safe, and very fun. This is where a line attached to the plane deploys your main canopy upon exit. This generally costs as much as a tandem. Check with many DZs to find out which ones are the best. Remember, safety is key. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Hahaha!! Thats awesome. I once saw Rich Appuso (weatherman in cincinnati) at the restaurant I used to work at. I was gonna say something but I chickened out. It probably would have been rude but then again, think of all the gas I wasted by driving 120 miles round trip with no jumps due to clouds. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

I think that if there was no door, then everyone who is not part of or containing the reserve should exit, because if something does eventually happen then thats less people that could actually get hurt. I really don't know though, if I was there I might prefer riding down in the plane. Don't let the FAA hear about that no door stuff, that can't be good. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

What do you guys think? They obviously don't know anything about what they are talking about. They just use the "too many variables" excuse to cover up their own stupidity. Its obviously not cloudy and raining today where I am and that exactly what they said it would be. Maybe I should go to school and become a meteorologist because then I could just sit around and look at a radar screen and then tell people whatever I want and expect them to believe it. After all, even if I am wrong, its not my fault because the weather has too many variables to even predict it at all. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

I'm right there with you guys. I am going to my girlfriends grandma's house all day Easter. Supposedly her family is quite weird, but thats what everyone says about their own family. I don't think they could be any worse than all of my skydiving family. Thats a tough one to beat. Fortunately for me Saturday is supposed to be excellent and I have the whole day to jump!! Its gonna be awesome. Last weekend was way to windy to jump. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Interesting outlook mountainman. While I agree that a girl looks much better without any of those tattoos or piercings, I believe that it is solely their decision. Besides, it might be better than you think once they get it. As for what it will look like in 60 years, I guess it just depends on the girl. Some people don't seem to show age as much, not that I'm saying 80 year olds look good or anything, but you never know, when you are 80 you might think your girl looks quite sexy with a tattoo, even if it is a little faded and wrinkled. Thats a tough situation. I can understand that you really want to jump, but the way I see it is that you have been working so hard to pay off your debt that you shouldn't ruin it for just a few jumps. You have held out for this long, I'm sure you can wait just a little longer. You're right. The devil did create money. The devil sucks. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Zennie, I completely agree. I don't know where the whole head cutting off thing came from but Jan's death was totally avoidable. Its a great example as to why you should not change your pilot chute location very much, ESPECIALLY ON A BASE JUMP!! Not wanting to sacrifice a safe rig over to authorities is not a good excuse for sacrificing your safety by jumping an unfamiliar rig. It was a tragic mistake that will hopefully never happen again. Good point Greg. Maybe it will be heaven then. Infinite altitude, although that might get boring after a while because it would take all of the thrill out of it. Invincibility which means that bouncing could be a fun thing. You wouldn't have to worry about low hooks or anything like that either. No long rides up to altitude in a broken down tiny plane. No hypoxia or the smell of jet fuel. Everyone would be the best skydiver. Wait a second. This is starting to sound bad. The risk involved, jump planes, and hard work is what makes the sport exciting and fun. Perhaps it is hell after all!! Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Hey, I see you are plugging your canopy there cobaltdan. I was under the impression that a cobalt was a higher performance canopy like a stiletto. Loading a Sabre at 1.0 is the same as loading a Cobalt at 1.2???? That doesn't sound right to me. I am no canopy expert but that sounds a little backwards, even if it is just in forward speed. When you throw in snappier turns that will make a bad combination for a low timer, probably even myself. I am just trying to get a grasp on your biased perspective here. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

Wow!! Thats insane!! Did he pack it himself? If so then someone should teach him about the closing loop tension and length. If not then I would certainly have a few words with the person who told him that it was ok to jump. Yikes!! That would have easily have been a horseshoe. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

I was close!! Shows how much I know about Canada. I went there once. Thats about it. Skiing in Whistler! It was the best ever. I change the subject too much don't I? Sorry. Carry on. Safe landings, Alex D-23912
