  1. I did a search for this and didn't come up with what I was looking for so bear with me. Why did you (hawkeye and optik users) decide to buy your helmet? Which one is easier to mount a still camera on? Anyone have any experience cutting away their helmet with different ratchet chin cup styles? Any comments about material and strenght. Thanks for the info guys.
  2. Anyone have the problem that their video becomes out of sync very quickly in Premiere 6? Its not physically out of sync, but it is virtually. I find that to correct it all that I have to do is to restart the program. Its not a huge problem but it is becoming a hassle. It seems to happen after I put in a few new clips, or if I render something. Im using a Athlon XP 1700, 512 DDR Ram, 60 Gig 7200 RPM HD.
  3. I doubt that it would have a negative effect on your landings, with the exception of not being used to a high performance canopy. As far as those fast tandem canopies go: why would anyone want to risk injuring a tandem passenger just to do a faster landing. They don't know the difference, and the risk is entirely too high to attempt. Most tandems can't stand up a slow landing. I don't have thousands of jumps(400 to be exact), and I don't do tandems, but I think this is a common sense approach to tandem landings. If it isn't, then it should be.
  4. I'll work on getting it uploaded.
  5. I bet that there would be tons of drag when you are landing with that SkyRay. Those wings would slow you down like peanut butter in a swimming pool.
  6. That would suck, but I wouldn't think that much would happen. Sure the canopy bag would fall out and roll on the floor, but there isn't a whole lot of air circulation to open the canopy. Maybe if you were in the last seat then you would have some problems. Cut away and/or GET OUT!
  7. I had a line-over that cleared on its own. This provides yet another example as to why you should jump a Sabre Not sure how I packed it. I've never done that before. I must have been in a hurry. It made for an excellent video. You can see the entire thing as it comes out. I can tell that it was between the C and D lines.
  8. I have used the Red can of scotchguard on my rig several times. No problems yet
  9. I jump a 1995 Racer Elite with 0 riser and bridle coverage. Had walrus teeth and extra velcro put on, but as those who gear check my put it, "the pin looks fine, but it's still a Racer". Though, Racers are THE comfiest harness out there. - I would rather be safe than comfortable.
  10. So check this out guys. I weight about 175 out the door and I'm 5'10" tall. I have a problem keeping up with tandems sometimes because I am too fast. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to slow down enough. I have also tried turning sideways to slow down in order to keep my head down to prevent all of that air spilling off there. Even with my freefly clothes on I am still pretty quick. I just ordered a Firefly wing jacket and I have previously jumped a tony wing jacket with a C wing. That works great, but I want to figure out how to slow down some without it. Maybe I just arch a little too much. Any ideas? I am new to filming tandems and I am learning quick. Let me know what you think!
  11. Thanks for the advice people. I'll definately try it out and figure out the most comfortable position.
  12. On opening, would it be better to put your chin to your chest or your head back? I have heard both. What do you do?
  13. The camera shouldn't shut off while its recording though. I know that my trv 17 shuts off after 3 minutes of standby. My friend told me that he had a problem with his cameye 2 shutting the camera off in freefall sometimes. He though that it was because of the angle he had the button mounted to the wind. His best conclusion was that the wind would hit the button in a certain way and turn it off. I don't know if thats possible but that was his conclusion.
  14. This is really off the topic of skydiving but I was wonder if you guys would mind taking a trip over to my page on Mp3.com to check out some of my songs. The page isn't fully developed yet but there are a lot of songs on there. I get paid a little for every time someone listens to a song so feel free to click away!!! Its mostly metal and its all instrumental stuff. Thanks a whole lot!!!! Its www.mp3.com/alexoconnor Feel free to spread the word. I could really use the help. Safe landings, Alex D-23912 www.mp3.com/alexoconnor
  15. You wouldn't even do a free tandem to be on a billboard? That was my 3rd free tandem. They are boring but they are free. The only reason I did it was to be on the billboard. I would rather not do them either. Safe landings, Alex D-23912 www.mp3.com/alexoconnor
  16. I am going to be on the new Skydive Greensburg billboard. They wanted someone to be a tandem passenger and look like they were having fun. They called me in for the job. I will probably also be on the new brochures too. Later. Safe landings, Alex D-23912
  17. I bought my TRV 17 from www.citywidedigital.com for $850 brand new. They have good warranty prices also. I didn't have any problems with them, but I also never had to deal with customer service yet. At least check it out. Definately research online! Safe landings, Alex D-23912
  18. Contrary to popular belief, Punk was one of the safest skydivers I knew. He was always looking out for everyone else. He was never really reckless towards himself, he just always tried new things that went against the norm. in skydiving. I remember when I hard a collision in freefall. He wouldn't let me jump again until he shook me really hard to see if I was still hurt. He was such a great friend. I regret not hanging out with him more away from the DZ. He only lived 6-7 miles from me. Anyways, what I am trying to say is pretty much what everyone else has already said. Goodbye Punk. By the way, the service is going to be private, and I'm 99% positive that either this weekend or next weekend his ashes will be spread in the air at Skydive Greensburg in Indiana. Thats it. Safe landings, Alex D-23912
  19. Contrary to Cliff, I have nothing but good things to say about my V3. It was custom made very well. Exactly how I wanted it. I have never had anything come open in freefall with this rig. Its like a rock. Definately a great buy. Better riser protection than a Mirage. Can't argue with that!
  20. Man, this place really went to hell didn't it? Safe landings, Alex D-23912
  21. Just wondering if anyone has much experience with a Sony TRV 17? What do you think? Any freakish things happen during a skydive? Is it a reliable camera? Thanks for the info. Safe landings, Alex D-23912
  22. Where do you guys find all the time to post like 1200 messages a day?! Just curious© BTW I just browsed over the thread "I'm Feeling Aggressive" and thats a lot of writing© When do you guys find the time ot skydive? Safe landings, Alex D-23912
  23. I would have to say that Michelle with 2 L's are definately sluttier than only 1 L. Its not really from personal experience its just an observation. Safe landings, Alex D-23912

    Best Exit

They are all good. A better question would be what is the coolest exit that you have ever done? I don't really have one so I'll get on that and let you know. Safe landings, Alex D-23912
