Do NOT do an intentional cutaway on your gear unless your having a main canopy malfunction! Use a rig that is designed for intentional cutaways. Meaning it has 3 canopies and another set of 3 rings allowing you cut away and open your main, while still having your reserve. Please speak with a rigger about it in more detail. Be safe. Never let an Instructor or Coach tell you that you need to wear weights so you can fall as fast as them. THEY need to "dress for success" on your coach jumps and adjust to YOUR fallrate. If they can not, I would find another DZ that has Instructors that can. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

You dont need to modify a container or pc to jump any wingsuit. It's only a suggested mod if you are wanting to reduce a chance of line twist or a pc hestitation. Pack gromet to pin, or gromet to bottom of container on some rigs, and do have a strong throw out on your pc to eliminate anything like this form happening. Be safe. Some people have told me they liked the thicker amatex material, and the single zipper suit can easily be modified to a double zipper by any rigger with a sewing machine. Offer $300

Like JaapSuter said, The animals wings aren't designed to create lift, but instead used mainly to slow itself down for landing after it leap. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

The Oldest Tandem Student I Have Jumped Was . . .
bodypilot1 replied to slotperfect's topic in Instructors
He was 89, and unfortunatly his left arm dislocated as he released his harness and brought his arms out after exit. I had no idea why it was flapping wildly during freefall, but soon found out after canopy inflation. I now nicely explain to any older passengers that they have more then normal to extreme forces from the air against their body and give them the option of leaving their arms crossed during freefall. Under canopy I never do anything over a 90 degree turn unless requested to, so they dont get sick. Treat them as though you are taking your mother or father for a skydive. Be safe. If this were the case, then what is the $20 for the briefing for? Or the $25 fee for the video and stills? Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

And for that matter, even putting it on can be dangerous. Kim (Cloudi) was standing with her rig on her back and in trying to put her legs through the leg straps got one stuck at her knee, she lost her balance and fell on her knee, hitting it on the concrete hard and never got to jump. rigging65 said that "you can jump whatever you want...as long as your intent upon exiting is to land the canopy you are deploying as your "main". If you want to jump a bedsheet (literally), and don't plan on landing it, legally you must have at least 2 other canopies. The law states you must have one parachute on your back that you don't plan on using except in the case of an unforeseen emergency, and that canopy must be TSO'd (US rules)." You can't land tissue paper? True, but not the point of his question. His question was "are mains are TSO'd", and "could he jump a parachute not made in the US" and the answer is, mains are not TSO'd and anyone can build one and jump it themselves. He should feel free to bring the main parachute to the US and jump it.
-
You can jump something you made out of tissue paper if you wish. You must have a US TSO'd harness and reserve though. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
