Wingsuit demo and smoke, how to pop it
bodypilot1 replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Then your first step to possibly correcting it from happening again, would be possibly to go through all the steps and training to get a USPA PRO rating? There is plenty of knowledge in the rating information to help you make the correct decision to abort ANY demo. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com -
Well if your profile is right, you aren't qualified to get your tandem rating anyway with just 1 year in the sport. Take one for the team. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Nope, shit happens sometimes. A simple controlability check is a you need to do to see if its landable though, just like I taught you as my student, and it looks like you did just fine. The only thing you did mess up on though was, not heading over to Lodi to get full altitude! It was an awesome day.

Wingsuit demo and smoke, how to pop it
bodypilot1 replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Your first mistake was probably knowing the winds on the ground were at 20mph and still wanted to do a demo. Second was probably having a pilot that was new to spotting with a GPS. Third was getting out of the plane without spotting correctly, then trying to give corrections while trying to hang onto the strut in a high drag suit, having already pulled your smoke. Not to rag on you, but people learn from stupid mistakes, and stupid mistakes make us all look bad. Never be affraid to call off a demo, or be arffaid to stay in the plane! Glad no one was hurt. Yo Flockers! In trying to keep this event as simple as possible, with no pre registration and registration fees at all, there will now be a free raffle for awesome discounts I was very suprised to recieve from Aubrey at Aerodyne International. Thanks for your support Aubrey!

I think your question should be, "Anybody want to skydive with these guys?" I bet most responce would be "Hell NO!" Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

I did. SPEEDER You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Anything you do say may be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without an attorney present you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney. Knowing and understanding your rights as I have explained them to you, are you willing to answer my questions without an attorney present? Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Read Tim's reaply about the original Monarch. Yes, the one you have purchased, the original one with the wide open nose, looked like a ZP Falcon, that opened really hard all the time and really sucked. Dont look up. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Yes, I was already skydiving when they came out. I can tell you I was at around 2000 jumps, all packed by me except for my 7 student jumps, my packing was very clean and done very meticulously, as the canopy I had being relined was a Sabre 1, and the Monarch was brand new, so if the lines were out of trim it came from the factory like that. I'd have to say that most of the jumps I have put on one have been slammers. Packed everyway I could think of to slow the openings down, then handed it back to my buddy and said, thanks I think I'll wait for my canopy to get finished being relined. Dont look up or down on opening and you'll be fine.

What Tim said is about right. Go into the pre course and pre eveluation jumps wanting to learn, then go into the AFF evalution jumps wanting to teach. The evaluators want to see you are able to teach correctly on the ground, and then will sometimes pick your weakest area of ground prep to try and hose you on in the air. Knowing good RW and staying in tight to the student is also good, but dont be over controling, let the student have room to fly and learn. Meaning something like, if they spin, stop them, give them the correct hand signal, and let them go. Also be tight on the bottom end of the skydives, because this is the area shit hits the fan and you are expected to BE THERE. But most of all, become an AFF Instructor because you LOVE to TEACH. Those that fly well, but can not teach, seldom see much joy in doing AFF. Good luck

Come on, we all know there is a small amount of air inside a packed reserve. Is it enough to keep you afloat? Maybe for a minute or two, depending on your body weight and the pack volume of your reserve, but these days everybody wants to have the smallest canopies and the smallest containers to "look cool". Which means less air and it turning into a quick BRICK to the bottom. The thought of someone having the idea that leaving their container on as floatation device is frightening, and with this forum new skydivers are easily influenced. "IF" you are jumping near any body of water, DO NOT rely on condems or your reserve to keep you afloat! As soon as you realize you are going to have a water landing, carefully remove your chest strap, carefully pay attention to your approach to the water, as it sometimes throws your depth perception off, and flare your canopy as you would on land. After your in the water, remove your arms from the container and free your legs enough to swim out from under your canopy if it has fallen over your head, then inflate your approved floatation device. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Air trapped in a packed reserve? Sorry, but that fuckin' funny! Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Without someone seeing the canopy in person to judge if it's "just plane worn out" , or seeing your landing aproach, it would be hard to tell why the flare isn't stopping you in no wind situations. Seeing you have some years in the sport and a few jumps, try some 90 degree front riser aproaches to build alittle speed for lift before flaring. Be safe. Being it's a Triathalon, it's probably not losing you enough flight efficency worth worrying about. How many jumps do you have on the line set? Is your canopy stalling as you flare at landing? Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
