  1. Steve Jelf is the CCI at Cerney, a top bloke dont be worried by the fact that he makes the Rock l;ook small. Failing that if Clarkey is the (skinny runt with glasses) speak to him. Tell the guys at SC I said Hi. BTW why dont you jump at Nethers??? Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  2. Im sorry but this really does confound me. Why would you want to own a .05 cal weapon? I understand certain issues such as collections of weapons for their historic value, your constitutional right to bare arms and the need to kill Elephants quickly and cleanly. I just dont understand the mentality of someone wanting to own one just because he can. Having just finished a 22 year career in the British Army I am more than comfortable with weapons and other devices designed to kill, main or otherwise disable a would be aggressor. Having carried out 3 tours of Northern Ireland, tours of the Balkans and Op Desert Storm, I am all to aware of the need for personal security. Of course these operational tours were before the USA was subjected to the kind of terrorism we faced in the UK on a regular basis. I still find it ironic that the area chosen as the target on 9/11 was one of the biggest sources of fundraising for terrorism in the UK. Anyone out there honest enough to admit to contributing to "The Cause" on St Patricks Day???? But I digress and rant, sorry. Getting back to the point. I can see no reason for wanting to own any type of fire arm for personal use let alone large calibre weapons. Just because you have the right doesnt make it right, just as the right to free speach doesnt make it right for me to incite racial hatred or burn the Star Spangled banner. I love America, well Southern California as thats the only place ive been (hello all you Perris and Elsinore peeps), and to be honest I have yet to meet an American I didnt like. But boy do you guys have some attitude adjustments to make. Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  3. i make a point to only use Sony tapes in my cameras (all Sony's), to the point that I would rather buy my own tapes to use in a works camera rather than use the Panasonic ones we got free through the system. I personally have had issue s with Pan tapes leaving deposits on my tape heads on more than one occasion. Since I have been faithful to Sony I have had no further probs (touch wood) I must admit I am one of those tape Nazi's that wont let any other brand near my cams and delight in passing on my adice to other camera flyers. FWI most of the "pro" camera flyers at my DZ use Sony tapes, and spookily we all have the same setups HC1 + 400D mmmmmm nice Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  4. Good point. But that was along time ago, looks like they havent come very far. Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  5. I jumped this at the Northampton Ballon Festival in 2000, dressed as action man
  6. Caspar I am gonna make an assumpton here based on the fact that you are a student and from Bristol (my girlfriends home town) that you were jumping at Nethers. If I am wrong let me know where (by PM if necessary) as I probably know the CCI any way. I have just left the Army and my last post was as an instructor at Nethers, so I know the staff and a lot of the jumpers and act as CCI there myself on occasion. What the other jumper did was without a doubt stupid, not just because he may be low experience but also he was unaware of your level of competance. Next time you are at the DZ give me a shout, just ask anyone (esp the manifest ladies) who Buzz is and they should be able to put you in my direction. I am more than happy to have a word with this guy and let him know the dangers of doing what he did, as he could do that to someone else who may not be as heads up as you. If you are there this weekend look out for me, Ill be doing tandems or camera and am pretty easy to spot being 6' 2" and 245lbs. It is important that we nip this in the bud. Remember safety is not a dirty word, unlike gusset
  7. Nice wshot. If I remember correctly the only thing that spoils that view is you can see it from MacDonalds window. I was there in 1999 (Ex Bright Star 99 if there are any military types in here) and found Cairo a very interesting place. The stark difference between the beauty and the engeneering brilliance of the Pyramids and the abject poverty of some of the populace was incredible. Sad that one of the most amazing sights in the world can be seen from a fast food place. Buzz xxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  8. Not wearing one at the moment, but I reckon the 22 years of military service I have just completed give me a little lattitude. Buzz xxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  9. I dont suppose you would have a copy of Final Cut Studio 5.1 lying around as well Buzz xxxxxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  10. Thats not necessarily true, it could be that with his old brake lines he was on the edge of stalling his canopy on landing. I see too many jumpers who have this problem and watch their canopies bow behind them almost collapsing as they touch down due to short lines. He may not need to depress the toggles an additional 12 inches to get a decent flair, what it will do is give him better control of his canopy in slow flight. 11. Yup we have packers. I think the going rate is £5 Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  12. I was at the Cyprus Bogie 2 years ago when they had the Let over. We had a great time, pity it doesnt seem to be going to well, Kingsfield is an excellent DZ with some stunning views from the top. Next time you go up tell Tony Goodman I said hi and tell him to give me a cal on the firms phone. Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  13. I know what you mean I had a similar problem. A more expensive option, but I wear a pair of Gatorz with my FTP. Not had a problem with them as yet and I wear contacts for jumping. Buzz xxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  14. Why is it not a tandem camera ? It looks about the same size as my HC1, just a little higher, but not as high as a VX2000. Buzz xxxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  15. OUCH Next time give me a bell and ill pick you up for half that Buzz xxx It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

  17. Im not working overseas so I will be able to make it for my initial London Skydivers drinks
  18. We had a baglock malfunction on a Sigma here at Netheravon a few weeks back. The Skyhook depolyed the reserve, unfortunately due to the lack of seperation the freebag landed ontop of the tandem and was entangled with the lines. Fotunately the tandem instructor who is not only very experienced, but also one coolheaded coucumber was able to untangle the lines and gather the main in and land safely. 19. Just out of intereste fella, where are you jumping in Germany? Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  20. I have not used either for linear editing but if you have a DVD recorder with a firewire input I cant see why you wouldnt be able to. I know for a fact both programs allow you to export the timeline to your camera. I was thinking of doing this myself early last year as I figured a standalone DVD recorder would cut down the wait time for a DVD. 21. In 2003 we had a show on UK TV called Drop the Celebrity. Basically you had 6 or 8 celebs in a studio which was in the back of a Herc (C130). They had to answer some questions then they were strapped to a tandem instructor and exited the A/C. The show was won buy a minor celeb called Cheryl Baker (ex Bucks Fizz) who was given the option of staying on the A/C or doing a tandem and increasing the ammount she won for charidee. She courageously decided to do the tandem (she was shitting herself) failed to lift her legs sufficiently for the landing and broke her ankle. The show was pretty lame but it did get jumping into the mainstream media prime time slot. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  22. Up until March this year I had a purpose built desktop editing system AMD 64, 2Gb Ram, shit loads of disk space running Vegas 6. This was/still is a good system or the intended task. I bit the bullet and made the decision to change to Apple in March and havent looked back since. I am now the proud owner of a 15.4" MacBook Pro with 100gb HDD, 2 Gb ram. I can honestly say that this machine rocks and runs Vegas 6 better than my desktop (I have a Win partition on my MBP). I was happy using iMove and iDVD to produce my tandem DVD's as it is so easy to use pretty much any PC user can work it ;-) In August I stumped up the dosh and got a copy of Final Cut Express HD 3.5, and once again I was suprised at how easy it was to use. I now hardly ever boot up into my Win partition as I have no need, all the stuff i need is either supplied with the MBP or I can get a Mac version. Funnily enough I think the Mac versions of "PC" apps actually look and feel much better than on the PC, Office, Messenger and Skype to name a few. To be fair though there are times when I miss using a PC, sorry just kidding, who needs spam, addware, viri, mal ware and random BSOD? Dude time to wake up and smell the fruit, with Intel equipped Macs running both OS's, Mac is the way to go. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  23. Hi Guy's I am now working in London (Canary Wharf), does that qualify me as a London Skydiver?? If so count me in for the next dinks evening. Blue Skies Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  24. I had mine top mounted with my 350D on a FTP. I have now moved up to a HC1 which i can still top mount with my 350. I now have a D Box for the HC cameras for sale if any one is interested. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  25. I wish I could add to this thread, but being 6' 2" and 245lbs I only seem to get the little hotties I knew eating all those pies would pay off one day. Buzz It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
