  1. Not being to sure what the requirement for S&TA is under USPA regs I wont comment on the right of the manifester to scold you. I will say that she did a good job by pointing out your error (although you should have been made fully aware before you jumped), but she should have been more courteyous. Its very easy to tell if someone is deploying 1000ft lower than anyone else, either in the sky or on the ground. The fact that Titusville have a policy dictating a higher deployment height than BSR is their right, they own/run the DZ and as long as local rules do not breach BSR rules they can do what they like (this is true of the BPA and I would assume USPA is the same). Your lucky you dont jump at a DZ I run. You would have to wear headgear for every jump, have a kit check prior to emplaning, AAD's would be mandatory, be under a main canopy by 3000ft, there would be no swooping unless cleared by me, no landing close to buildings or spectators and tandems would be hooked up prior to takeoff. And thats just for starters. If the DZ has posted the local rules, and you have been made aware of them by signing a waiver (should you bother to read it)or such, then its your tough luck if you then choose not to jump there after being reprimanded for breaking them. I would not give you a refund in this case. Its only a contract if you abide by the terms of it, by choosing to deploy below the minimum altitude set by the DZ you have chosen not to (this is of course assuming the rules are laid out and you have been made aware of them). It may be due to the brevity of your initial post, but it seems that after the manifester (albeit rudely) made you aware of your misdemeanour you got the hump and threw your your teddy in the corner. Ill be honest I doubt whether youd be welcome at my DZ with that attitude. Just realised you havent had the courage of your convictions to identify yourself in your profile. DOH It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  2. You might to share your point of view with Lucy. I dont think you could equate the service her and the other manifesters/coordinators do with the paltry sum they get paid. were not all as lucky as you to get paid to skydive It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  3. Its pretty difficult to tell really due to the white ballance but I guess thats the idea. Might as well start a bit of debate here. What are peoples opinions on jumping through cloud? The BPA Ops Manual states: Parachutists may not leave the aircraft if, at the point of exit, the ground between the opening point and the intended landing area is not visible. Personally If I cant see then I dont go, much to the chigraine of jumpers on lifts I have brought down. I gone around again or brought the aircraft down when I have not been JM but the JM has left the aircraft before me. What are your views? Just wanted to add, sorry for hijacking the thread I just realised its not relevant to this forum. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  4. I have a HC40 on Ebay at the moment if your interested, ill even throw in a 25 - 37mm step up ring if you want It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  5. Industrial haze my arse. Any idea where the picture for this was taken? It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  6. Glad to see they dony cloud bust at Langar It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  7. A couple of em were particularly scared but they all jumped, they were a good bunch of guys. It was interesting seeing the whole process of production, the director was trying to get me to scare them by saying how dangerous it was etc. etc. I was very concious throughout the whole thing, of not putting that image over, and trying to maintain a professional image. The fact that I was sweating like a Micheal Jackson in court with Gary Glitter's solicter defending him didnt help matters. If anyone does watch it I would appreciate hearing how I come across. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  8. If anyone is interested I believe tonights episode of "Football Saved my Life" is the one where yours truely trains them for the their tandems. From the web site 20:00 Football Saved My Life Reality series in which Neil Ruddock attempts to make a star football team made up of 15 men whose lives are blighted by booze, bad diets, anger management issues and even depression. Can their lives be turned around by the beautiful game? After an extreme test of their nerve, the team play their latest game under hypnosis. Unfortunately I dont get Bravo, so if some one fancies taping it for me (Craig) id be chuffed. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  9. I vote fake, they look a little too perfect compared to the rest of her. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

  11. I dont believe that D you are very foxy. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  12. Hiya Di Wise words there babe. Just wondered why Geordie chose to chop away the canopy before he gave you a pack test, that seems a little excessive to me, its not as if that is a real world scenario. BTW whats with the avatar? it makes you look pretty foxy It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  13. Angels and Demons is not related to DVC other than it involves the main central character. IMHO A&D is the better of the two books. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  14. In the beginning God covered the earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, with green, yellow and red vegetables of all kinds so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives. Then using God's bountiful gifts, Satan created Dairy Ice Cream and Magnums. And Satan said "You want hot fudge with that? And Man said "Yes!" And Woman said "I'll have one too with chocolate chips". And lo they gained 10 pounds. And God created the healthy yoghurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 12 to size 14. So God said "Try my fresh green salad". And Satan presented Blue Cheese dressing and garlic croutons on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast. God then said "I have sent you healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them". And Satan brought forth deep fried coconut king prawns, butter-dipped lobster chunks and chicken fried steak, so big it needed its own platter. And Man's cholesterol went through the roof. Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with potassium and good nutrition. Then Satan peeled off the healthy skin and sliced the starchy centre into chips and deep fried them in animal fats adding copious quantities of salt. And Man put on more pounds. God then brought forth running shoes so that his Children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan came forth with a cable TV with remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering light and started wearing stretch jogging suits. Then God gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonalds and the 99p double cheeseburger. Then Satan said "You want fries with that?" and Man replied "Yes, And super size'em". And Satan said "It is good." And Man and Woman went into cardiac arrest. God sighed ......... And created quadruple by-pass surgery. And then ............ Satan chuckled and created the National Health Service. THE FINAL WORD ON NUTRITION After an exhaustive review of the research literature, here's the final word on nutrition and health.: 1.Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 2.Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 3.Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 4.Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 5.Germans drink beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  15. I will be at Nethers this weekend. Ill say hi if I see you, if you see me first you say hi. Ill be doing tandems (yeah right) i wear red and blue freefly pants with the word Rainbow down the legs. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  16. Shereen Where in the UK are you from? Do you know where you will be doing the tandem? It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  17. Thats a pretty average price for a tandem in the UK, then you can add around £90 for cam shocking huh, especially when you consider how much TI's get paid. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  18. Im afraid I dissagree with you there. I think that what we do defines us to some extent. And who we are defines what we do. The lengths that we are prepared to go to for the sport we love. The attitude we have that comes from the sport. The community we belong to in this sport. Being a jumper and the ethos around it is so different to non adventure sports. I have friends that dont jump, but do other adventure sports and know why I jump, and I have friends who do neither and ask why I do what I do. You are right that being a jumper does not make us better, but it can and does improve us. I have seen so many people gain confidence through this sport only serving to better them. I dont think "breed" is the right term but those who enjoy adventure sports are most definatly a different "type" of person. I was a hardcore mountain biker long before I started jumping, giving up riding when I started to spend even wet weekends at the DZ. The people I rode with and competed against were of the same mindset as those I jump with now. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  19. So I started my new fitness/health kick a week ago. At my gym they have a Tanita Body Composition Analyser, so I jumped on it after my first session, not coz im paranoid about my weight just to give me an idea of how I am progressing. Hopped on the same machine last night after my workout, I was gonna wait a month between weigh ins but I thought what the hell. any hoo I have managed to shed 6lbs of lard in a week, and reduced my Fat% by 1.1. Now I know the largest weight loss occurs in the first few weeks of exercise/diet but i'm still chuffed. I am exercising 3 times a week at a moderate intensity for 40min (tread mill, bike, xtrainer) and have modified so that I am eating throughout the day rather than a a big scoff at the end of the day. I feel much better and actually saving money as I am not eating out/fast food all the time. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  20. Happy birthday babes x x xxxxxx xxxxx xxx x It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  21. Jessie Hope I didnt offend you by calling you "freakishly hot" I must admit to having a soft spot for Chrisitna Ricci It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  22. OK is it me or is weds freakishly hot??? It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  23. Funny thing that. Im also on a mission to shed the lard, but I want to loose a little more than 5k. I have going to the gym at least 3 times a week, but will up that to every night mon - fri once my PT has sorted out a suitable programme. I have also made some adjustments to my diet, primarily cutting out the sjite I use to eat and cooking for myself. I took my kids skating to the Link centre in Swindon this weekend and discovered the climbing wall there so my GF and I are gonna start climbing (it scares me shitless but she loves it). The gym I go to has a Tanita machine that gives you a breakdown of your BMI, body fat %age etc. I was relieved to find out I am not quiet obese phew. Keep me posted on how you do bud. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
  24. After serving in the Royal Artillery for 22 years, I am now a Connectivity Management Engineer working with BAA in Heathrow. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
