  1. You can use the neptune, VISO (when it's on the market) ... as a "watch" altimeter. You do not need that ring. http://www.alti-2.com/Neptune_Owners_Pages/mounting.htm see the picture at the bottom of that page Jurgen
  2. illegal if the passenger were not intoxicated? Jurgen
  3. Can you post that list? Probably very interesting for a lot people. Jurgen
  4. Three weeks ago: no problem Yesterday: no problem Conclusion: no problem ;-) Jurgen PS Nobody never has asked me the "cypres card" I bet they have seen more than enough rigs with a cypres, vigil, ...
  5. I have at least 3 friends who have dislocated a shoulder. If you do not wait long enough to let it heal (can be 6 months or even longer), you risk that you will never be able to jump again. Jurgen
  6. Do not forget the inverted risers on a rig made for non-inverted risers, for example atom-risers (PDF) on a mirage.
  7. You have a good point, but spiraling at 1000 ft is not a good thing neither. Jurgen
  8. 1500 jumps on a vengeance 120, WL 1,65. Openings were ok (even with very sloppy packing), even with a twist (3 times) it flew straight, no cutaways. Flies great and lands very good, dives very well (maybe not as good as the katana, but I can not compare them because I jump a katana 107 now and not a katana 120). Have never flown a samurai. I do not recommend a vengeance with a WL below 1,4 or above 1,8. I think that at those WL's, there are other canopies which are better suited.
  9. I put mine on my arm, almost against my elbow. When doing tandems or FS (RW) it is very easy to look at it. I prefer not to put it at my hand, you always have to turn your hand to look at it. But it's a personal preference. Jurgen
  10. Often the first and the second "bungee" are longer. Jurgen
  11. Making a 170? This thing flies perfect at a 1:9 or 1:8 wingload. That would make a pilot about 300 lbs. I would argue that if a pilot is 300 lbs, and unless a bodybuilder or incredibly in shape, they should maybe consider a different hobbie. I don't know...just thinking out loud.
  12. I do not see the link between the malfunction (blowing up the canopy) and a lineset which needs to be replaced. Lots of people jump with old lines, with canopies which need to be relined (and I am talking about several hundreds of jumps). There are other things to be considered like: packing error, opening when still in tracking or going to fast, bad luck, canopy already had a tear in from previous jump, canopy has been exposed to the sunlight for a few days, just bad luck, ... In belgium last year on the same day, two different canopies blew up at the opening (is a tread somewhere here on dropzone.com, DZ = hoevene). So it can happen. I do not believe that you can blame it on the dealer just like that. Verify, ask questions but be very, very careful if you attack somebody. You will need prove, not assumptions. Jurgen
  13. Euh? Vengeance short recovery arc? 20 jumps on a vengeance and you know this? The vengeance is a different canopy from the stiletto and you need more than 20 jumps to fly the vengeance like a vengeance and not like a stiletto. How do know that the vengeance has a short recovery arc? When I did a 180 with my vengeance at 500 ft, it was to low (and it is not a slow carving turn, but an aggressive hook turn).
  14. If you want/need a altimeter and a audible, you need two devices. So twice a device which can do both tasks (more expensive "overkill" device) or 1 altimeter and 1 audible? If you use your neptune as an alti, you don't need the audible-function. If you use it as a audible, you don't need the altimeter-function. J
  15. Belgium is 4 months or 6 months, it depends on the federation. Jurgen
  16. Probably they left out this function in the last version, because it makes the device unnecessarily more complicated to make? Jurgen
  17. Hey, the 20.000 ft scale of the altitrack is more than just a mimic. When you are at 2000 ft, the needle goes back at 20.000 ft and you have a very precise (2000-1800-1600-1400-1200-1000-800-600-400-200 ft ) indication. I made 3 jumps with a prototype last year at the bussloo swoop competition (Netherlands). Think about a digital (read electronic) altimeter with a analog scale. Jurgen
  18. You don't need the dockingstation to charge the battery and to plug in the videocable. You can leave it mounted on your helmet. Jurgen
  19. Closing loop too tight? Test this: make your loop as tight as possible, put the pin in place and try to lift your rig by pulling at the bridle. The loop can only be "too tight" if you forget to cock the PC. Your PC don't need terminal speed to pull the pin. If it does, your PC is worn out.
  20. Belgium (Flemish part) VVP = licensing organization A: 25 jumps, supervision on board => instructor B: 50 jumps, supervision on board => instructor or C license C: 200 jumps, "selfsupervision" D: 500 jumps, "selfsupervision" http://www.valschermsport.be/documenten/downloads/vvp-bvr.pdf Jurgen
