1. Just asked this question, because when one toggle gets unstowed during the opening, some people do a cutaway without ever trying to release the other toggle.
2. Just like you said. Rounds are maybe less modern but certainly not less safe. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
3. Old school packing? Are you talking about psycho packing or about roll packing? Roll packing is an old flat packing technique (an envelop-style of packing, not stack packing)? Parachute lays flat on the ground, set brakes, flip the nose inwards, flip the tail inwards, ...
4. And people get killed under square parachutes. Round parachute is still a very very safe parachute. Can somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I always believed that a two out situation is only dangerous when you have two square parachutes out. Windlimits are lower when you jump a round reserve (if you are smart at least ) Jurgen
5. I have landed several times in a cornfield (other option was a tree). First time I flared too low and it was rather painful (you could still see the streams on my legs one week later). After that experience, I flare higher, so to land on top of the corn and then sink in it without any forward speed. The ground in the cornfield normally is soft enough to do this. I believe that is necessary to have (almost) no forward speed anymore when you hit the corn or whatever you land in. Last time I did this with a Vengeance 120, WL 1,65. Jurgen (Sorry, but english is not my native language)
6. It is good to see that you have executed your EP very good, but I have one question. After the jump, when you analyzed the malfunction, have you never thought about releasing the right toggle to stop the spin? Jurgen PS I do not question the fact that you chose to cut away, but just something to think about.
7. A tandem drogue has to collapse before opening the canopy. With a full inflated drogue, the canopy opens too hard (can even damage the canopy). Jurgen
8. Renier in Ampuria gives canopy courses. You can contact him (via the shop) at the DZ. Jurgen
9. I have a pro track (use it as an audible) and a neptune (use it as an altimeter) The beeps of my pro track are much louder. Jurgen
10. I have seen a similar "incident" in Belgium. So it happens.
11. http://www.l-and-b.dk/pdf/english_protrack.pdf Go to page 18 in the manual, "setting the logbook totals". You just add one or more jump(s). Jurgen
12. It is very simple to add a jump to the logbook. Ask somebody to show it to you. Jurgen
13. At the beach boogy in Ampuria? Yep Jurgen
14. In Spa (or any other DZ in Belgium) you need a Cypres. Jurgen
15. Why do you not post the name of the DZ? Jurgen
16. MI-6, MI 8 and MI 17 helicopters, AN-2 and AN-26 at the first Poland Boogy in 1988 or 89 Jurgen
17. There are more reasons to carry a knife with you on a skydive jump, than cutting lines on your reserve.
18. Is a tandemjump free fall or not? Jurgen
19. Hey, Since December your DZ has a 170 and a 190 intermediate canopy (Paratec quadra). Jurgen
20. >> The issue is that thicker loop material is not compliant with all types of containers if you, for example, cut the loop at the bottom of the container. One example is the French Atom rig which must use reserve loop material that is even thinner(!) than the regular Cypres loop when equipped with RSL. Yes, there was an issue with this in the past. The point is that Advanced Aerospace Design has not done this research. They are piggy-backing onto Airtec's suggested mounting of the AAD but not following it through since they claim loop thickness that history has already ruled out is okay to use. > I do not see your problem with the reserveloop. There is no "Vigil-loop" like a cypres-loop. You only have to folow the manual written by the manufacturer of the container. Maintenance free? My car tells me when it needs maintenance, it depends (max 30.000 km). My grandfathers car needs maintenance every 5000 Km's or every 6 months. So you want me to go with my car to the garage every 5000 km? Any cypres-ready gear is also vigil-ready. So AAD nv does not need to do this research again. Have you ever seen a cypres and a vigil or just only the display?
21. 1. The cutter of the vigil is of a different type than the cutter of the cypres. It is tested that it cuts every loop you can find on the market. 2. The vigil can be installed in every cypresready container. 3. Please, when you state something, bring in facts, not rumors.
