I think there are a considerable number of people in your position. My dad has a saying that the first requirement for being in politics should be that you don’t want to be in politics. Modern democracy and western culture needs a revolution to turn around the direction we are all going. The fact that politicians know that their ‘base’ gets mobilised to vote and generally only passionate and committed people go out and vote tends to bias everything towards extreme views. In Australia voting is compulsory and citizens get fined for not voting. I think that approach helps to moderate extremism, not that I’m holding Australian politics up as a good example!

That’s the thing with being a manager, leader, teacher or any person of authority, you are not allowed to take the bait and act stupid, doing so is a core part of your job. CEO’s lose their jobs all the time for mis speaking to the media, shareholders and clients. As president that responsibility is even greater! Why did we start a war with Canada well you know old Justin baited Trump and he just reacted...

https://images.app.goo.gl/VZz3oKZsucMeP6KA8 This is very popular bumper sticker here. It appears to be accepted. I love the New Zealand guys who have the bumber sticker ‘Too late we’re here’

4-way exit FAIL - skydiver loses shoe

Dress for success. 4 way is much easier if appropriate jumpsuits are worn. Interesting thread as the original poster doesn’t appear to have attitude of being unwilling to learn, but clearly is lacking some knowledge. He’s been beaten to death with advice, poor guy. Glad they had fun and no one was hurt. I loved 4 way and hopefully there is enough belly 4 way at his DZ that he can find some good mentors to learn from. -
Take note of the communist star on Zimbabwe’s flag! I’m sure you don’t need any more proof than that

There’s an interesting aspect to racism and culture. I was born in Zimbabwe and grew up seeing South Africans as racist but we were not. Then I moved to the UK and saw just how racist Zimbabweans were or could be and also for the first time really experienced racism from Black to White (try dealing with the Zimbabwean embassy and people inside it as a white Zimbabwean 15-20 years ago). i then spent time in the Southern US states and can safely say that those states have rampant racism, very close to the worst I saw in Africa. Now I’m in Australia and racism is quite prevalent. There is an ad running on the radio at the moment where ‘x is a whinging Pom and when the temperature is above 28 degees...’ It’s actually pretty offensive. In short people normalise their views based on who they surround themselves with. I’m sure that Trump and members of the KKK genuinely believe they aren’t racist, but you know those black lives matter people, wow are they racist or what!

It’s funny how kind history has been to George Bush. He stands head and shoulders above this clown
-
I hadn’t realised before, but his wife has held citizenship for a shorter period than the only ‘foreigner’ he insulted. I wonder if his idiot base realise that?
-
Wow! You’ve got an interesting view of the world or else that post really badly. Are you saying racist views held by a conservative are ok because the dems are worse?
-
This is the first time I’ve heard a mainstream politician use the term. It’s always been associated with racist right wing idiots as far as I know. I am interested in what the right wing leaning people here feel about Trump saying that to members of Congress.
-
I’m not sure how widespread the view is, but I sort of group up with the perception of rednecks being dumb but friendly, and the ‘middle class’ Americans who traveled being the ‘ugly american’ rich enough to travel yet obnoxious. Its funny but having spent a descent amount of time in the USA I think red necks are generally very nice and a good few really bright and interesting people.
-
I think you’ll find behind the public ‘show’ most politicians are friends and it is a fairly tight knit community. Let’s face it, spend 5+ years in the same work place with significant interaction friendships form.

Just read about his resignation. It is the right move in the circumstances but it sucks as he was the victim of a leak. Most political or senior business roles require people to make honest assessments that may not be flattering and they are expected to be kept confidential. I must admit I find the whole Wikileaks and leaking culture deeply disturbing and damaging.
-
From the outside it seems that the USA could really benefit from the moderates from both Republicans and Democrats splitting off to form a viable 3rd party. No idea if the guy is good or bad, but it seems like a good approach

Happy 4th July. Couldn’t pass posting this though

Fair enough. I’ll admit I’ve found it hard to follow his views at times and at times I’m not sure if he’s stirring the pot or genuinely believed stuff. But for the most part while I usually disagree with his viewpoint, Turtle does seem to be one of a few people capable of genuinely shifting his position following debate on a topic.
-
Something I don’t like about online discussions is how when someone clarifies their viewpoint and potentially changes their mind people jump on them. Maybe it is because tone is lost in a forum like this, and I’ve got no idea if you’re being nice or snarky to Turtle.

It will be interesting to watch the US elections. The people who voted Trump because he was ‘less bad than Hillary’ have seen Trumps true colours and there is a different playing field. I have a suspicion that people hide behind a facade and secretly like Trumps prejudice and hatred and I would not be surprised to see him re elected.
-
To be fair I can think of a couple of times that he has expanded on it. I think he is one of very few people on here who simply thinks Trump is less bad than Hillary and therefore gets lumped into being a Trump fan. If I was in that position I’d probably get sick of defending myself
-
Hey Turtle, have your views on Trump changed? I think you’d said you voted because he was ‘less bad’ than Hillary. So from that I don’t see you as a Trump fan regardless.
-
I know you don’t like Hillary and to be honest I don’t really know much about her, but there is a good article she wrote that came out today https://www.smh.com.au/world/north-america/how-we-should-respond-to-mueller-report-20190425-p51h0y.html

Good thing she isn’t running the country then! But sadly another dunce is....
