  1. Exactly... A six-month skydiving season changes things a bit. Not everyone can live in California.
  2. Sounds like a terrible idea to me. It would make the forum-page much more difficult to read.
  3. A lot of the planes listed above.... Plus a few more unusual(to the americans at least) ones. -Antonov An 28, twin turbine tailgate exit -Antonov An 2, world's largest single-engine bi-plane -Mil Mi 8, a big and really loud chopper and the usual Let410, Twin Otter, C172, C182, C206, C207.
  4. >I'm like a superhero with no powers or motivation. So you just wear silly tights?
  5. Did you read the thread from the beginning? Unthinkable things can and will happen. "The designers of idiot-proof systems frequently underestimate the ingenuity of true idiots."
  6. Ha! The jokes on you, I anticipated the last bit, and didn't scroll back to number 9! I did try to lick my elbow after reading one of the "did you know"-lists though.
  7. I personally don't like the idea of stuff tied around the reserve handle... No matter how careful you are, it's just one more thing that can really ruin your day. This post has a picture of a safe way of securing your reserve handle.
  8. Nope, it's from Douglas Adams' "Restaurant at the end of the universe".
  9. One reason is that since lot of people use DZcom from work, they are behind a firewall that prevents the use of "real"-chatrooms like the one in the pub. Which is exactly why I made my own chatroom that doesn't get blocked by any firewalls. Link is in the signature, it's mainly active on weekdays, european/african office hours.
  10. Yeah, like this one day, I was standing on a sidewalk, minding my own business, when all of the sudden multiple cars sped past me, at about 50kmh, they only missed me by a couple of meters! I was nearly killed!
  11. >My mom came to me in shock..."Did you read about the near fatal >accident in the newspaper yesterday?? > >So I freaked out, and started browsing the newspaper. "Oh, that kind of nearly fatal accident. Yeah, we get a couple of them every month." his main parachute failed to open properly, at a 1000 meters, only a few seconds before impact "Few" is a relative term obviously. Has it been a slow week in the news in Holland?
  12. Hey, psst... "Preview post"
  13. I set up the chat 'cause I can't access the pub from work...
  14. The list will be updated as needed. It only includes canopies that are in use/have been in use in Finland. Some entries in the list are there for the one canopy of the type in use at the moment... The reason for excluding other tandem-manufacturers than Strong is that there are no other tandem-rigs in the country! And I'm pretty sure there are no examiners with other than Strong rating, but could be wrong about that. When a DZ decides to get a Sigma or something else, it will be promptly added to the list.
  15. This list is actually the list of canopies approved for student use. With our licensing system, jumpers are students until they have a C-license. Many people buy their first own gear some time after they get their B. The list of canopies approved for C-licensed jumpers with less than 250 jumps is basically the same, it just has a few CF-canopies included in it. Oppilaskayttoon_kuvut_16022003.pdf
  16. In Finland, jumpers with less than 250 jumps may jump with a maximum wingloading of 1.34. There's also a list of canopies that are approved for the less-experienced(again,
  17. Ah, yes of course, but when trying to improve your score on a javascript-game, the worst that can happen is mild embarrasment...
  18. I emailed the ISP's helpdesk. Hopefully they'll sort it out before tomorrow, otherwise we all might have to work for the day...
  19. The problem is definitely server-side. Looks like it was the disk-quota thing anyway, but not mine. I went poking around with FTP, clearing out old unneeded files. So I made plenty of room on the server. After that, I decided to disable "auto-refresh", since it eats up so much bandwidth. Trying to upload the edited file on the server, I get "Upload failed: no space left on device"! So, it seems that the disk partition on the ISP:s machine, on which the DZs site is, got full, and now I couldn't upload my files. I deleted some more files, and managed to upload the edited file. What I don't understand is why it works one minute and doesn't the next? Is there another user uploading(disk full - blether croaks) and deleting(enough space, blether works again) files?
  20. >Hasn't anyone one ever heard of regular expressions? Well, yes, but what do they have to do with this?
  21. 15/16. Erred on the wrong side.
  22. Damn, how did I miss this poll? Judging from the amount of votes given, a few others missed it as well....
