Jen, seriously, if you are getting that much back, and you don't see a big change in income coming this year, when you get your new job in Atlanta increase your number of dependents (or have your husband do it). Your level of state income tax will change from RI (which is why Florida is very inviting, NO income tax! Nevada too!) If you have the stuff done via payroll deduction to your checking and saving (401K) accounts, you don't need to be disciplined. "How much is in the checking account, Honey?" "Let's go OUT to dinner!"

Oh, I got more... I think he got a four foot by six foot one of these. I can honestly say I haven't jumped with a better freeflier with such low numbers as the Clayster. The cool thing is, when he gets back, he'll have to do a recurrency jump, and I think I'll fail him
-
No, I mean increase them. If you are currently Single, zero dependents (deductions), you need to crank a dependent in there so that you keep more of your paycheck and put it into your 401K or whatever. If somebody is getting 3 grand back, they are making the government an interest-free loan of about $250 every month. If that money was plugged into a fund, then over the years it will add up to serious money. I would rather have control of my money during the year and get a refund from the Feds that pays my California taxes owed.

I'm sick as a dog and not getting on the scale until I feel better.
-
Argh. I don't get this. That's YOUR money! Increase your deductions and save your own money during the year.

Thanks for the call, sheepf*cker, and congrats on the new gig. Don't get killed. When you get back, come stay at the Casa de Deuce and get your Byron love fix. Moto is gone, so the hate level is already way down. You so look like a Lucky Charms commercial in this one.

I'm shooting vertical until I get a magazine cover As to the digital stills thing, where me, Iwan & ChopChop fly camera, we are doing away with film as soon as the concession owner runs out. Digital is better.
-
Um, Iwan? G-Money has been around even longer than me, and the first computer I used had tubes in it, and ran on a reel-to-reel.

Haven't you left yet? Backdoor draft is what the Southern California women complain about when they have to wear those crappy little gowns at the plastic surgery clinic. Physicist: BEGONE! (Yeah, I'll miss you too, you giant PhD )

Would you buy a new PD reserve because it packs smaller?
Deuce replied to cpoxon's topic in Gear and Rigging
Craig, no for me. I jump a 150 main and a 143 PDR. The only reason for me to downsize would be to get to a Wings EXT, and the hangup is my main size. So, I don't need a rig that is really small across the top but still holds a 150 main. This would be an advantage to the swoop crowd jumping 100 footers and below. The smallest rig I have ever seen jumped is Ankies (from Wings), how she could go even smaller with this new technology would have most of us making sure she was wearing a real rig, and not one of the little backpacks that have become fashionable. -
So long as it wasn't the dandruff shampoo.

Ditch Pig Swamp Donkey JP Me or the one down South? My favorite one EVER was "Biscuit-Head!" which is also supposed to be a racial slur.

Whats the coolest aircraft to jump out of?
Deuce replied to packing_jarrett's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That was Jan (sp) plane out of Cal. City. He brought is up from So. Africa. As far as I know he has not hauled jumpers since that day at Perris. Sparky That's really too bad. I'll never forget all those "Air Trash" guys singing all off-key on the floor of that baby on the way to altitude. -

The C-130 was the coolest so far. That sucker is so fast to altitude that if you doze off, you're landing in it. Ryan took this picture of me filming at HercBoogie. -And so far, Pajarito holds the "best post of 2005". What a great freaking story! Whoops, gotta edit. They had this freakishly cool turbine DC-3 at Perris a couple years ago that was astoundingly cool. -
Mostly number 3, not having to explain themselves, and number 5, everybody jumping out of a CASA. After the Holiday Boogie, some of my girls and parents of my 3rd grader basketball team asked me why I missed a practice and I explained I was filming a short documentary on skydiving in Arizona. "You mean actually skydiving, or just interviewing the jumpers?" "Both" "You skydive?!" "Yeah, and I teach it too. You want to come do a tandem skydive with me?" "Uh...." The more of them that do tandems (I've got a couple out) the less of that inability to equate skydiving with a loving parent I have to deal with. As to number 5, more Super Otters is good, but I like my 206 during the week.

It seems like it is the solution to the air transport issues of 30 years ago. If there was a huge demand for this jobbie, I'd think we'd see more stretch 747's than stubby ones. It'll probably do OK on the New York-Paris, San Francisco-Tokyo stuff, but it just seemed to me that people are really moving toward smaller planes that take them right where they want to go. And there's the little problem of it never having flown yet, right?
-
That's exactly the stuff I was looking at. I think they're called "Transition Featherweight" and I found them on www.mountaingear.com. How are they holding up to wear, washing, etc? Are you using them for jumping as well? Yeah, it still looks pretty new, wears like iron. Yeah, I've worn it under my jumpsuit when doing tandems when it is sub zero at altitude. When I wear that and my underarmour cold gear the vapor transfer is really amazing. The window or the side of the plane will have droplets of condensation and I'll be dry and very comfortable. That's why I like the stuff so much. Tandems especially are a stop-go exercise, and getting damp and then jumping into a sub zero 120mph wind is really uncomfortable, getting worse under canopy. With the underarmour coldgear and the windstopper you'll stay dry and comfy. It's not stretchy, though (the windstopper from mountain hardware)

I have both wired into my ringsite, so I have a solid red for the camera, and then at 5 grand I get a slowly blinking red right next to it. -
I have the mountain hardware versions, top and bottom, and they are the best. Yeah, they are worth the money, with just a fleece base layer, or the underarmour coldgear stuff, they are warm enough for just about any cold weather activity.

All the little things about cameraflying...
Deuce replied to lewmonst's topic in Photography and Video
I've had to buy my fair share of gear, and blown some shots that can't be reproduced. OTOH, I've had Paul Quade score my family tickets to Disneyland and meet us there, had Tony Hathaway call me a home a couple times, and work with me duplicating the 121-way record, had Mike McGowan go out of his way to say hello, talked on many occasions with Gregg Gasson and Brent Finley about the state of the art, had Craig Girard tell me I did great when filming 8 way Airspeed day last year, actually got paid to wear my gear out of the Hercules in Sweden for Schwede, got to fall for Foxes at Nationals with Lew! I'll never get the money back, but the memories are absolutely priceless. -and- "No, I can't give you a firewire now, but it'll be in the DVD!" -

I missed that it vibrates, too. It'll tear through batteries, but that is another great feature. Audible, tactical, visual warnings from one device. Another one that pulls when you don't. Good stuff, so long as folks don't get complacent because of them. -

Competition is great. Look what the Neptune has done! The coolest thing I see is the LED light that goes along with the audibles. Looks like it will fit in all three of the electronic digital versions. That will be a very big seller with camera fliers and birdmen, who aren't continually checking thier visual alti's. I use an older timeout with the LED, but when it finally gives it up it's nice to know there's going to be a replacement. Neato. -
The only drawback I see for you is that you are not showing up with the necessary skills, ready to go. You'll probably have to make several jumps on your own dime before you can take money. Especially at tandem mills, where the tandem masters and camera fliers usually have a high expectations, you gotta deliver every time when you are taking the money. Be clear about your skill levels when you apply for any position. JP

Oh, I take my British English very seriously. Know the difference between different types of bollock, and all that!

Yes, your ironing is quite motivational. You want my tights back, you gonna have to come get them.
