  1. This would fall under the "canopy control" part of the "Swooping and canopy control" forum. To each their own (SO LONG AS THEY ARE SAFE!) We all know that "mind your own business" is not an acceptable answer to a valid safety concern brought up.
  2. My god people!!! When people try to beat land records across the flatlands, and attach jets to their cars, are Indi drivers getting in their faces? Telling them "Why are you being so dangerous? You should get some indy car coaching? You'll never be able to corner the Indy track with that enormous jet on the back of your car?" That's what's happening here. Steel choses to fly at a wing loading of 4. Everybody interested in this thread, and critisising his "Swooping abilities" Should following me along in this little excercise. Click 'Edit', drag to 'Find (on this page)'.... goooood, you're all doing good. Now in the 'Find what:' box, type "Swoop" or "Swooping" Click "Find Next".... Now carefully note where these words appear and answer this question: "Did Bruno mention a damn thing about his 'swooping abilities'?... or did he tell you all to shut up because he's didn't? Thank you all for participating. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  3. Cool, Thanks guys. Pretty nifty pics though eh?... by the sounds of the snopes site, they were not photoshopped... but weren't of a hurricane either. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  4. Or hoax? Here's a really cool pic, said to be of the edge of hurricane Isabel. Anyone seen it? Think it's real? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  5. You bet it's still open! Haven't been there in a couple years though. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  6. Why aaaahhh, erm, No I, I just... Oh gosh hehe honestly, I seen 'em before
  7. Hey ah, Rosa,.... What site did you find these on?... Uhm, just curious . bwahahaa. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  8. No no no, those beads are NOT for insertion.... Look at pic 4, see how theres the silver pearl strand riding along in between her cheeks? Pics 1 and 2 show the same concept, the thicker, lacier part goes around the waist and only the beads go under and across the croch (front to back) My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  9. I know it bytch... I know it and I'm sorry. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  10. Kind of??!?! Judging by his derogatory and non-productive posts in Bruno's thread... combined by this clear 'calling out' to Bruno here... I would say that he's down right arrogant, narrow-minded and dare I say it?... perhaps even a bit prejudiced. But that's just my $0.02... I really shouldn't contribute it since I'm no swoop-master myself. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  11. Chris, Have a closer look, I think you'll find each rig complete with a packing card AND seal Here in Canada. This is reserve info. Each rig must have the repack card showing the date of the last repack along with the name and number of the rigger that did it. Different rigs have them in different spots... popular places are a pocket under the reserve closing flap or even main closing flap... or sometimes a pocket in the mud-flab (shoulder) If you give someone a pin check, you'll see the reserve pin is wrapped with a little red thread... this thread was put there by the rigger upon the last repack, the thread is looped around and a little metal 'seal' is afixed.. This seal should below to the rigger that did it... and thusly the number on the repack card. The card gives you the make, size and manufacture date of the reserve as well as the number of times and the dates of the repacks. Schools are permitted to not place the seal, and to document all the repacks on one single sheet or computer if they do them all at once, but a reserve repack card must still be present to show what's in the tray. Being that we are talking about how different schools mark their rigs differently, Andyman said it best 'cause different schools do it different ways and there's nothing saying you even have to mark it on the rig itself... but one should know how their DZ operates and if the main size is not listed, you should just ask an instructor or a school packer. 12. Spent a month and a half in Japan with my martial arts instructor... Hmm, things were a little more expensive than anticipated (I was 14). Played a little guitar on the Subway and wondered why we didn't just quit our jobs lol. Most of the time, I walk on by. I live right near the T dot and spend a lot of time there obviously. Personnaly, I feel like dropping a quarter here and there is just pointless. From time to time, a 'homeless' will catch my attention. He/she will speak to me. Sometimes, I feel compelled and leave them with ten or twenty bucks. I have to feel in my heart that the money will go to good use. I tend to try and do it unnoticed... truthfully, I feel guilty even typing it here (must be a catholic thing lol). I've often given out food or articles of clothing. As a kid, I'd look away from the 'bums'... especially the ranting ones. Now, when I'm walking along, I'll often stop for the 'rantings' If I'm entertained, I give. I never pay sgeedgy (sp?) kids though... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  13. I didn't do it! Hehe, too bad, love those sunset tracking dives! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  14. Skydive Toronto Inc. is roughly an hours drive out of Toronto. I think it's common practice to use the name of the city from which you will draw the most customers... or basically where your target market lies. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  15. I get pretty tired after a day of jumping. I think it's a combination of mental exhaustion, Adrenaline/dopamine depletion and plain ol' being outside. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  16. Certainly are! We also followed the endorsement to a tee. I felt like I was in the first jump course again. Espesially when it came down to spotting the DZ from the air hehee. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  17. That's right! I didn't even mention Mars! How cool is that! It sure did look pretty nice! Could see it, and then kinda see it's reflection in the water. Just a beaute! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  18. caught that did you? hehee Oh I was nice. It was real nice of them to stop for me! I just found it funny that they had to ask you know? They got a good laugh at it anyway... It's like "No, I always walk around with this combersome fabric or sort and strange backpac that can't hold nothing, and a helmet and goggles and .... etc... hehehee. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  19. Did my pre-second Night Jump on Saturday! Man what a rush that was!!! We all had Glow sticks taped to our legs and arms. Pure darkness in the plane safe for them. 'twas like a mini-rave in the Twin Otter. Did two practice passes to spot the DZ. There was talk of "where is it?!?!" and "I don't see it!!" lol Went out solo and flew on my back... the moon was big and bright and the view of the lake and shore was unparalleled by anything I've ever seen before! The glow of the chemlights was pretty neat in my peripheral vision too, gave the whole jump a real floaty, supernatural tone. I lost sight of the DropZone while under canopy though when I noted another coming straight at me. "Heeeeeeelllllloooooooo!" I shouted and we passed eachother happily. By the time I had the small conflict delt with, I could not spot our landing area. (it must have been just behind me!) I finally found it but I had flown quite a bit past it. Landed way off (well, a field over anyway) I could probably have made it back but there is a significant ridge of trees between our field and the one I landed in so I made the decision to go for the out. If the farmers happened to of looked out there window, they might have thought there was some sort of Alien invasion going on, what with the crashing into their crops from the air (no wind, half-brakes, plf), the glowsticks, the funny clothes, helmet and goggles... heheee. This older couple drove by me on my walk back, they stopped and asked "Are you on your way to that skydiving place?"... I looked blankly at them, then at the parachute I had flung over my back, then at the helmet under my other arm.... "What skydiving place?" I asked.... "Get in the back, you've got a bit of a hike to make here."... They drove me back, it was quite an entrance. lol Man what a rush! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  20. The post is about the advertisement.... he may go there and LOVE it there but it's not the point... I LOVE my home DZ but if they had "questionable" advertising... I'd be questionning myself with the same thoughts : "Should I make it my point to say something about the negativity?" No, he is refering to the negativity he has found in the advertisments he has read. Again, he is refering to the advertisment, asking if it is his business or not... some seem to think it is..... The angry dz owner? Unless it's him typing bad stuff about other dzs then, this post is not about him either. Personnaly, I agree wholheartedly with taking part in trying to reduce any mud slinging in this sport... I mean, we all go nuts when we see the media 'getting it wrong' but here I see some people defending another DZO trash talking other DZs?? Don't make much sense to me. I could say I'm real safe by listing certain threats and commenting on what I do to reduce the risk... but as soon as I start saying "So and So's equipment is not up to date."... well, isn't this a step below slander? I agree with the poster who says that any bad words spoken about any DZ is bad for the sport... and A money-hungry DZ operator who slanders other DZs is most definately not doing his/her part to promote the Sport... there are other ways to sell your product. 21. True True... So then I show them the Flyboys Party Mix... you guys know the part where there is the caption "Flyboys Freefly School"? And they show the boys flying with differnt students? There one where someone is trying really hard to get into a sit but is flopping all around... whoever is coaching is staying right there with them.... Even the whuffo-est of whuffos can see that the student can't fly stable sit and that the coach is working Hard to stay with... actually, it's one of my favorite sit vids to watch 'cause you get to see all sorts of inputs and what they do. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  22. right on! I've got to find someone with a pair that I can demo a bit. sounds nice though.... why better in sit? They collapse a little more? I'm currently flying a fox shirt and a pair of 'Food', nylon/polyester pants which I've converted to FF pants... I'm a lightweight so it's working pretty nice as there is very little 'extra' fabric in the legs... perhaps, it wouldn't be much of a tradeoff for me. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
