Actually, the trend around these parts is moving towards simply calling it Head UP flying... as oppose to Head Down1. Stand is just a fast Sit... being that we all have different 'natural' terminal velocities here on earth, we go out for a 'head-up' dive instead of a 'Sit' ... your inputs to turn in a stand should be very much the same as in a sit, thing is, anything done with your legs will give you more 'wobble' in a stand because A) your control surface is more streamlined and longer (legs) and B) your speed is significantly increased. Turning with your arms (which is how I do it I'm pretty sure) should require the same inputs in a stand but just slightly less is needed because of the increased speed. I find also, that in a stand, I cup more with my hands... uh, If I'm driving forward at someone, my arms are back, but my fingers point slightly downward making my palms face downwards and forward... I can actually feel the relative wind hitting my hands in a rear-ward fashion (in other words, my hands are fighting the forward motion ever so slightly) this gives me two benefits. 1) It gives me a little rigidity in the arms to lean against and stabelise any of that 'wobble' and 2) It give me the indication that yes, I do have a positive forward motion.... reading over, I'm not sure if this makes any sense to read but basically, keep your palms facing the relative wind and it'll give you some leverage to stay stable... also, if you make a point to almost always have the wind striking you palms dead-on, then the way your palms are facing indicates your flight path to you. In my experience they DO have an effect, just not in the way you would think. The vents haven't affected my HD flight, but the fact that there isn't so much loose fabric down by the ankles, as is the case with regular freefly pants, makes a difference. But that's just me. YMMV. Thusly would you say that they are generally faster than your average ff pants in HD?... that perhaps you need more leg input to get the desires flight reactions in Birdman pantz then in average FF pants? The Birdman pantz really intrigue me.. they sound bomb but I was picturing them slowing me up in HD... If they are faster, I can compensate a little. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

So what's the consensus? How do the Birdman Pantz affect FreeFlyin? I have heard that they slow down your HD... but I have also heard that they have little or no affect... If I could get the additional forward speed benefit in a track, without affecting my HD performance, then these are the pants for me! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Hey Whatsup Glen! It's me Nick! Bomb little article dude

I have a steel rod inside my right femur from a seado accident in 98... I've been jumping with it since i left the hospital... The docs said that they wouldn't take it out but I'm thinking more and more about 'femuring' with a big hunk of metal in the middle... not a pretty sight in my mind... Perhaps I'll go back and ask again. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

That's wonderful! Congrats and Enjoy! Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Bwahahaa! To the best of my knowlege, that's how it's done... the only issue -apart from finding the correct gear- is the plane ride... the mega-fat should be paying extra for the ride to altitude... my DZ charges extra for peeps over 250 I think. But you don't have to be thin to fall, you don't have to be young to fall... Hell, it's been demonstrated that you don't even need all you limbs to fall. That's one of the beauties of this sport IMO. It may not be for everyone, but anyone can do it My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I converted mine to wrist mount when I was usually the the only one on a load with a chest mount! lol Peeps are putting them back on the chest now too... seems easier to read it there while in HD or in a Sit. I wear an Alti on the Left wrist and a Dytter in the Right ear. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Typically, you get to the first unread post. But If you logged on for a day, and there was a new thread (showing as orange) that you did not read at all before logging off, you could log in at a later date and have it shown as white (like you read it) with orange pages behind (meaning others have posted there) If you click on this thread, it will go to the first post made after you logged off the first time, thusly, even though you've never read this thread before, you appear part way through it. make any sense? representin' I busted the 'ol femur in a sea-do crash, the day before my highschool grad in 98. I've got the Wolverine styles now as it's mostly made of metal. Set's off the detectors at the airport and warns me of incomming storms but for the most part, I am not reminded of it until girlies ask me about the little scar on my right butt cheek My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

It depends on the nature of the post or email... For the most part, I try to type very professionally.... but here on DZ.com.... if I'm just 'talking back', then I most definately type the way I speak, lingo, slang and errors the same. And yes, I do attach 'voices' to the posts I read, just like when reading a novel -

I say Whuffo like "Wha-fo", with emphasis (if any) on the 'wha'.... but my buddy says Whuffo like "Woofo", with the emphais on the 'fo' 'tis a moot point really... and to be honnest, I'm just looking for backup when I poke fun at my bud Cool Philly!
