  1. http://techland.time.com/2012/05/24/the-new-york-bill-that-would-ban-anonymous-online-speech/?hpt=hp_t2 As the article points out this would not come anywhere close to passing constitutional muster. Just makes you wonder if the NY Assemblymen have ever read the First Amendment. Or if NY doesn't have any real problems they could be addressing. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. I do not believe your first statement is correct. This is only concerning LWOP for juveniles. It is unclear how widely or narrowly the case would be decided but it would certainly not apply to all case of people serving LWOP. In the second case the SCOTUS has already decided the the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment when applied to juveniles (Roper v. Simmons). They have also decided it is cruel and unusual to sentence the mentally retarded to death. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. That's what the forum shopping is for... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. I do not think you are going to get rid of that system or the flawed people that manage it. If you did get rid of it then it would be replaced by another flawed system managed by flawed people. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. You jumped with me and turned 8 or so points when I only had ~30 jumps or so. I will forever be grateful for that. It was a very fun jump. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Hi Chris, Where are you jumping? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. Neither one are OK in the pattern!!! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. It was posted earlier in the thread. Going off of memory here: A SYG defense is raised at a pretrial motion before the judge. SYG confers immunity from prosecution. It is basically a free-roll, so I would think just about any attorney would assert a SYG defense. For self-defense--the person only has to raise reasonable doubt that he is guilty of the underlying crime. These are very generous parameters for the defense. 9. This exact scenario is explicitly allowed under the FL SYG law in certain circumstances. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. The old stadium is perfectly adequate for every single one of those events. but once the team leaves they loose tax revenue, jobs, and money for stadium upkeep now making it a large cost to the state The Vikings had not been paying any rent or upkeep on the old stadium for a number of years (mostly because they threatened to leave once the lease was up). 11. Glad the decision went that way. Wish the language had been even more sweeping, though. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  14. Except now you have to spend a billion. In this case you are spending less than half of that, yet still getting the larger investment in your community. It's not an either or. Road maintenance is a necessary and core expense. A stadium is not. Additionally, some of the jobs created by the stadium may not produce any tax revenue as they may use illegal labor: construction, maintenance, concessions, security, etc. Even illegal labor generates tax revenue, especially property tax and sales tax, which are main state/local revenue generators. Even illegal workers have to live somewhere and buy stuff. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. Any answers would depend greatly on how you define the conditions of the question, so I am going to define them for myself and ask others to define in ther answers as well. I have ~250 jumps and do amost exclusvely belly flying (aside from a few hop and pops). I don't and haven't done competition four way but I mostly like to do 4 way. For purposes of this question I am going to say I show up at the drop zone and get on a 4 way with people I don't normally jump with but who have at least moderate experience. Any time I can get 4-5 points on a pick-up four way I feel like that is a successful jump. 3 or less and I am a little disappointed and feel I could do better. More than 5 points is pretty much gravy. Just curious what other people think and frame that for themselves. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. We really don't know if he knew GM had a gun or not. Unfortunately he is not here to give us his side of the story. I tend not to make things up to support a conclusion. So it would seem to me the best thing to assume would be that TM did not know GZ had a gun until shown otherwise. I tend not to make things up to support a conclusion. I have no idea if TM knew that GZ had a gun or not. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. Yes, that is what happens when there is only one side of the story because the other party is dead. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. Welcome to the sport. I may well have been on the Caribou with you at Triangle. Did you meet any of the boatload of Canadians that were there that weekend? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. Good, at least somebody does. What do those statistics tell you, are student injuries increasing/decreasing/staying the same? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  21. both my undergraduate and graduate school offered a student health insurance plan. I didn't participate so I have no idea how good they were. I did have to purchase my own individual policy my last semester in college because I was not covered on my folks poliy after I turned 22. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  25. It would not be this easy. Marriage (and divorce) are generally governed by state laws. There are federal benefits attached to that status, so a federal law could allow the same federal tax status and social security bwenefits (and benefits for federal employees) but would have to specify exactly what state relationships it covers. Presumably if the state did not recognize a civil union the federal benefits would not apply (maybe) as they are currently attached to state marriage. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
