  1. Already covered in the rules. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. Am I a shareholder or a customer? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. Well, I wasn't going into that part. There are interesting articles about it (and what evidence was presented to CAS) at the link I provided above. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. Yes; they clearly are ignoring the well documented 30% advantage of the prosthetic in the name of looking PC. Also, the fact he couldn't make the times necessary, so they changed or suspended the requirements to get him in - ridiculous. Just to be clear, Pistorus met the qualifying times set by the IOC and neither the IOC nor the CAS changed anything to allow him to run. Athletes south Africa is one fo the countries that has set higher standards for their athletes to compete than just meeting the IOC standard (Canada and New Zealand are other countries that do this) and Athletics South Africa apparently waived their higher qualification for him. 5. Yup, he's going. If anybody is still interested in background science there is an excellent series of articles about Pistorius at www.sportsscientists.com "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Well, it sounds like the rules then could help with airport access. As long as teh airport has an area that meets the requirements then the airport sponsor no longer can attempt to prohibit skydiving on the basis of "don't have a suitable landing area" Whether the proposed landing standard is the right one or not, I don't know and haven't yet looked into it enough. I would say that if we think the requirement is too large, it would be good to suggest an alternative and the basis on which that alternative is based. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. Shoot, and I thought the ability to set my Facebook page to "Pirate" was pretty good. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. The fires started because Obama is/was a closet smoker. If he hadn't set the bad example with hiding fire then the Colorado mess would never have happened. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. Right, we have a broken system created by excess government regulation so we are going to fix it by means of more government regulation. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. Honestly I am very suspicious of government power as well (in general). I am still digesting this opinion and haven't fully formed views. I believe at least some of the concerns you are pointing to are precisely why Roberts held that the act is unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause. I am not sure that ruling it is applicable under the taxing authority changes anything substantially or not as I am less up on my taxing authority jurisprudence. My first response is that powers in this area were pretty well unlimited already, but I don't know for sure. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Shucking and jiving is a slang for joking behavior. Jive (in the airplane example) is a word to describe slang speech used by African Americans (it was a much more popular term in the 70s, I haven't heard anybody talk about speaking jive for a long time). Shuckin' and jivin' is also commonly applied to African Americans (or was in the past again) as the paradigm was that they used humor and deflection to misdirect and avoid trouble in situations where there was a power imbalance. 12. Dental and eye care are two of the only portions of our health care economy that are actually working. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. No thanks. Married. You got cut off, too, huh? Talk about caveat emptor. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. Maybe you are...There is much in scripture that I don't necessarily "like," but I understand it's importance. I'm thankful for that which we have. Well, when presented the fact that the different translations, etc. differed, your response was that you followed the original. That sounds like a feel good but unrealistic standard, since we do not have the originals. How do you discern? What does "original" mean and include? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. We tend not to base doctrine on those verses... We're well aware of our depravity and put no confidence in the flesh. If you want reasons to disbelieve, there are plenty...knock yourself out. My belief is not at issue, I am merely asking questions. I do agree with Reinhold Neibuhr, who held that human depravity is the one doctrine of the faith for which abundant evidence exists. So, if the scriptures are "inerrant in the original autographs" and we don't have those, then we are just picking and choosing which of the texts that we do have that we like better? 16. Are you familiar with tedious process of Jewish textual transmission? Besides, one doesn't even have to read the whole of scripture to have spiritual life, and that which we have has been proven to work for us. Very familiar. The earliest MTs we have are from ~1000 CE and they have known errors in them. They are, however, much more consistent than the New Testament Manuscripts. Is the story of the woman caught in adultery authoritative (John 7:53-8:11 or thereabouts)? Is the longer ending of Mark authoritative (16:8-16). Neither one of the are in the oldest manuscripts. ...and nobody's trying to hide that...most bibles will note that. All that matters is that we have enough that works. Yes, I realize those are well known examples. You didn't answer my question, though. Do you consider those sections authoritative and as part of the Word of God? Is so, why? If not, why not? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. I agree 100% with this decision and am glad the Supreme Court ruled this way. I tend towards First Amendment absolutism. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  19. The original... You read Hebrew, Aramaic, and ancient Greek? I'm impressed. Really not that difficult. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. Regardless of the legality or illegality or other arguments being made: Lead is bad for the environment. Responsible sportsmen should switch to other alternatives, even if the law does not compel them to. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. You think this part is OK and supports your contention that they didn't start out badly? Maybe it is my warped moral sensabilities but infliciting violence against black leaders and white republicans sounds pretty evil to me. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Yes, just replace the worn ones. The locking stows will wear out faster than the line stows. They will not wear out as quickly if you don't abuse them (hint, bring the grommet to the rubber band, not the rubber band to the grommet). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. If that is true than you are doing something wrong with your packing. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. Invalid Poll. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. Everybody's experience of anxiety, fear, etc. is not the same. I was like you, not so nervous on the ground, a good bit of anxiety in the door (took me a few counts to launch). I was also a kicker leaving the plane. That is not uncommon for students, or so I've been told. Don't know anything about how Perris works, so will leave your other question. Glad you have joined us.
