My understanding (which could well be wrong) is that the wingsuit covers the hangles. It is not attached to them at all and doesn't fundamentally alter the original piece of TSO'ed equipment. It does prevent its intended operation and is stupid, but since it does not alter the original eqiupment, I still fail to see how it could void the TSO? Thanks for the reference, Sparky. I agree that it is a stupid practice. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

What kind of main and reserve were you on? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Please cite where USPA REQUIRES DZOs and instructors to report injury incidents. They do not. The only people required are the S&TAs. My apologies for implying that they were. I was merely pointing out that USPA could enforce or amend its regulations to require reporting and could take action against those who will not do so. As it is USPA, as far as I can tell, lacks the will to enforce any regulations. Violations are abundant, both in the GMs not upholding their pledge (separate swoop area, anyone?) and by individual skydivers (cloud clearance requirements, among others). This does not make sense to me. The TSO certifies the equipment. Anything that modifies the equipment could certainly violate the TSO. The two parts of the TSO cover performance standards of the system and production approval. Maybe it is a semantic argument but I don't see "proper use" as covered by the TSO. Suspending privileges of being a GM dropzone. Suspending ratings/membership/appointment privileges for S&TAs, instructors, DZOs, etc. who are required to report and do not. USPA fails to enforce anything because they lack the political will, not because they are not capable of doing so. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

90,000? So this is just another practice run? {Still very impressive, but I thought the next one was for the record} "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Honestly we are going to look back on how we treat mental illness these days the same way we look back on the way physical medicine was practiced a couple of hundred years ago. Out understanding and tools are so primitive we are essentially treating with leaches. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Is Obamacare really killing university health plans?
Southern_Man replied to jdfreefly's topic in Speakers Corner
I agree that the 10000 is basically not worthwhile. I thought under Obamacare they were doing away with or substantially raising the payouts, so that even your university is going to have to offer a much higher level than 100,000. Wonder what that will do for premiums? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
He should check with his homeowners or renters insurance carrier. Mine would not cover a lost/cutaway canopy but would cover theft. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Equal protection seems to be the concept you are missing. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

No necessarily true. As long as the couple believed in good faith the officiant was a legal officiant, states are generally very, very reluctant to nullify marriages. The law is very murky here and generally comes down to a case by case ruling. (this is subject to a lot of disclaimers, as state law is different, also, I am not an attorney and Andy is. This is one area I do have a tiny bit of expertise in, though) "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

massive shooting at Batman projection...
Southern_Man replied to piisfish's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, in the common sense of things, for many people once Bob has rented commercial space and is setting up a booth to sell guns, he is a firearms dealer. I assume that most people doing that are doing it because they think they will make a profit on it as well. I know common sense and government regulation don't go together all that well and that the gun show "loophole" may be way overblown as a point of contention, I am just trying to see it from the other side as well. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
I have felt this way about most of the elections in my lifetime. There were some years I did not vote because I could not bring myself to support either candidate and some years in which I have voted for a third party candidate when there was an acceptable choice on the ballot. I have not decided what I will do this fall but see very little chance I will be voting for Romney or Obama. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Should James Holmes face the Death Penalty if found guilty?
Southern_Man replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
FWIW, I don't think practitioners use the term clinically insane or even insane in referring to their patients. I believe the term insane is now strictly a legal term and "clinically insane" is in the dustbin of history. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
massive shooting at Batman projection...

It is But I did not go far enough with the info The NICS data base is only available to licenced sellers. Those wishing to sell privatley have no access to the system The other issue it is crashes frequently Not sure what level of IT support is needed to get past this OK, so presumably somebody running a gun show would be (or could be required to be) a licensed seller. I don't see any problem with having the background checks centralized? Not too surprising the thing crashes frequently. What are the actual down time statistics on it? What do gun shops do then? Quote there are two major hold ups to fixing what is called the loophole 1 the NICS system runs on a small staff on weekends. Weekends are when most gun shows are held. Those wanting to fix the loopholes do not want to fix the NICS issue {/reply] I thought it was all a computerized database? Do you mean it is not and there is not a staff person there for the gun show people to talk to? Or is the database so bad that they can't keep it running with a minimal IT support crew? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
Sure, but there is a big difference between the entire harness system having another 5-10 pounds spread out over the whole system and the wear that could come at two very specific attachment points. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Skydive Carolina in Chester is also very nice to jump at. It was quite warm when I jumped there, I believe in November. I think they continue to jump at a good rate all winter. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Unnecessary cutaway. Very Dangerous and stupid
Southern_Man replied to pj_jumper's topic in Safety and Training
I've watched the video several times in an attempt to read the altitude but I can't really make it out. Can anybody read what altitude he pulled at? When he noticed the brake line? when he pulled reserve? It does seem as though he spent a long time fiddling with his brake line (after not noticing the problem for a while) but also had a good bit of time under his reserve, so I am guessing he pulled on the high side. EDIT: OK, watched it again, looks like he is at 3000 when his dytter goes off and he pulls). He does something with his chest strap before he unstows his toggles, but it doesn't look really loose. I can't quite see where the altimeter is at 1:58 of the video. Look like 2500ish? Can't read it again at 2:29. Looks like he is under his reserve @1000 ft at 2:49. it is awfully hard to read that altimeter on the video. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
