What Happens if You Make a Film That Offends Muslims

I don't think that was his own money. I believe he scammed "investors" out of that. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
Obama: I actually believe in redistribution (at a certin level)
Southern_Man replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Big deal. Everybody who believes in military spending, social security, Medicaid, Medicare, public roads, and public schools believes in redistribution at a certain level. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

How will you Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day?
Southern_Man replied to Southern_Man's topic in The Bonfire
Tomorrow is my favorite holiday of the year: Talk like a Pirate Day. I'm a little disappointed that it falls in the middle of the week this year, but no mind, I'll be celebrating anyway. It is not too late if you don't already have your plans together and your house decorated. Of course I am always prepared with pirate costume and house decorations. If you go to a Krispy Kreme store and talk like a Pirate you get a free glazed donut and if you show up in full costume you get a free dozen. The nearest Krispy Kreme store to me is ~25 miles away, so it would cost more to drive there and back than the donuts are worth. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
In new tape, Romney casts doubt on peace for Israel
Southern_Man replied to ShcShc11's topic in Speakers Corner
Good. I have no doubt that when the Israelis and Palestinians want peace they are more than capable of achieving it. Until both parties want that there is no hope. The US should stop spinning its wheels. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

forget the smell, although I hate the smell. In this case the cigarette is in the landing area. It has absolutely not business near parachutes or parachute gear. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Hi Steve, I'll take a shot at a few of your questions, although I'm not the most experienced guy here, I'm sure others will also fill in anything I miss: 1) There used to be a glossary in the safety section. I don't see it there now, and the site is going through a big redesign so it may have moved somewhere. Anyway, the search box is very helpful and I bet you can find just about anything. 2) Gear should be included in your student jumps. You will want to get through those before you even start to think about buying gear. 3) This is a complicated question. Dropzones follow several different training curricula. They are all designed to get you to the same place (mastering the list of skills for the A license). In addition, although your post does not mention them, there are also static line and instructor assisted deployment methods. This is a good question t ask the dropzones you are interested in. I personally learned following the Integrated Student Program (ISP). 4) You are lucky to live in an area with a lot of great choices for learning skydiving. Perris and Elsinore are both large DZs with good schools for learning. Skydive San Diego I believe is closer to you and also I think has a good reputation. I'm on the opposite coast, so I'm sure others can fill you in. 5) This is another complicated question, as not everybody prices their courses the same way so it can be difficult to compare apples to apples. For example, some people will sell their 7-8 level AFF as a package. Others will sell a complete, 25 jump A license package. Others will sell a 25 jump package that includes gear through jump 7-8 but gear rental would be a non-included cost after that. What you really want to do is try to nail down what it will cost you for jumps 1-25 if you can and to figure out what that includes (I think some include a few minutes of tunnel time in their training even). Even this may not be your final cost as re-jumps will cost extra. 6) Lastly, although you did not ask, consider your ability to start and finish the course in a relatively timely manner. Currency is important and if you are doing a few jumps at a time interrupted by deployments and layoffs from jumping, that is not the best way to learn. It took me about 3 months to get my A license from start to finish, and I think that is pretty typical. I've seen motivated students get through it much faster (I've seen a week but think a month is a more realistic schedule and that is if you can jump on some weekdays) and I've seen people take a year or more, so there is not a bright line of too fast or too slow but it is something to consider. Welcome to the sport and good luck. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Relax about the backflip. One thing to remember is you are not being judged on the quality of your backflip. The whole point of the drill is to get unstable, then to regain stability again. If your backflip is beautiful that is great. If not, as long as you gain stability again, that is great too. I have no problem w/ civil forfeiture if somebody has been convicted of a crime and the property can be shown to be instrumental in that crime. The way the law is currently written and implemented is insane. If you are a landlord and one of your tenants uses your property to manufacture meth or sell pot your property can be seized even if you have no knowledge of the underlying crime. That's wrong. I agree 100%. This is absolutely a travesty. Another reason to oppose the war on drugs. Both parties are complicit in this horrible denial of basic due process. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

clicky to blog This is a really poor article that simply and utterly fails the logic test. Just reading through the article is states that industrial hemp wasn't outlawed until 1937. Diesel's engine dates from the previous century and Model T's had been produced for years at that time. Which simply means that there was no barrier to a hemp automobile or hemp fuels at that time and Diesel and Ford turned to other materials and fuels because they were better, more economical solutions. Ford was simply wrong when he expressed the opinion that alcohol would be the fuel of the future (who knows, maybe it will be at some time in our future but it seems rather unlikely). I swear the pro-legalization lobby really does itself a disservice by printing things like this which vastly overstate any industrial uses for hemp and attempt to rewrite history. It's not heresay - it 16 incidents of tail strikes, 11 in the past year. There is no heresay. TK do you know where all these tail strikes occurred? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
It doesn't really matter that he was a Christian. He caused a schism in the religion, which drastically reduced the power-base of the Roman Catholic Church. Plus: protestants were usually less inclined to set people who showed signs of independent thinking on fire on the town square. au contraire. John Calvin and Martin Luther were quite vigilant persecutors of witchcraft and were no better than the Catholics who they overthrew. If the protestants had a better overall record on witchcraft it is only because they were generally not as good at co-opting the power of the state to enforce their orthodoxy, but not for lack of trying. Medical marijuana is just sham legalization. Just do away with the hypocrisy and legalize it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Yeah...I can see it now...at work standing up and saying "I'M A POTHEAD! I SMOKE POT!" Skewed survey, maybe? That's certainly possible but I don't think it is a significant factor. Some of those people (including me) will admit to having smoked pot at some point in their lives. Others say they never have. Perhaps some of those people are pro-legalization because they would like to smoke legally and without repercussions. Others, like me, have no interest at all in smoking. That's a fair claim but it was not the original claim: Is it racist to claim that a majority of the welfare food stamp folk are black? The majority are not. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Careful, this is how people become packers. You telling me some packers actual own a car?? Good point... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

I think you might be shocked if you actually polled people beyond your close friends. I am not a user of any illicit substance (I have a serious caffeine habit and enjoy a beer or glass of wine now and then) but am among the pro-legalization crowd. Our current policy simply is not working, it is time to try something else. If you have other suggestions beyond the status quo I would be interested to hear them. A survey of my colleagues at work shows that there are a lot of people like me--pro legalization of at least pot but not users themselves. My mother (not a pothead) is pro-legalization. It is simply recognition that what we are doing is not working. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Lead poisoning killing California condors
Southern_Man replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
Regardless of what CA fish and game decided, or what the data showed, concentrated lead in the environment is not good. I urge hunters and fisherman to use non-lead substitutes if at all practical and possible. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
