I'm more than familiar with Duverger's law and am a frequent third party voter. I've never felt that vote was wasted. Perhaps I am a hopeless optimist. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

"Demonstrators, holding banners with slogans such as "one father + one mother for all children,"" Oh yeah, because gay marriage is definitely what's standing in the way of this! The answer is clear, then. They need to kill all single parents, too. Because that will make things better...for the children [/sarcasm] "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Outrage Over Skydiving Cat Video

As God is my witness, I thought Turkeys could fly. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
I'm a proponent of people getting an RW suit for their first suit. I don't know what things are like in Toronto but the places I've jumped here in the states inlcude use of a student jumpsuit for all jumps until you get your A. If the jumpsuit rental is included then I strongly recommend using their jumpsuit as long as possible (no use tearing up a new suit you just bought) :) "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

People have their own opinions about gear so I'll just give you mine. Others may differ. Alti: Yes, a galaxy is a good first altimeter. It is always great to have something that is not dependent on batteries. Gloves: Warm without inhibiting tactile sensation. Lots of opinions on these. I personally use mechanix gloves all year round and use some lighter running gloves underneath it is cold. Helmet: You mention full-face, I'm personally a fan of a regular open face Benny or Pro-tec for a first helmet. I understand the full face is nice for those of you who jump where it gets really cold. Jumpsuit: Yes, you will need a jumpsuit and will progress faster with one. You will probably end up with more than one. I have a Bev suit for RW and they are good suits. There are other quality suit makers out there too. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

first and last post. End of Days Diatribe

Because Defense (an unpalatable euphemism, as you've pointed out) spending is a huge giveaway and form of corporate welfare to defense contractors! That's why conservatives love it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
Ours is internet based--running off of the providers servers, so it will run on anything that can access the web. Of course the software was expensive to purchase and required a lot of staff time for both installation and maintenance. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

There is a lot of information in a first jump class and a whole lot of it is important, so it is not unusual to either get overwhelmed and forget things or forget things if you don't get to jump that day. Definitely make sure you are comfortable with caopy flight before you go back up again. Since I forgot to say welcome, Welcome! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

The radio is only a backup. You should be trained to know how to land all on your own before you ever went up in the plane. Batteries fail, radios come unattached, and sometimes wind pushes people off course. On the positive side looking for an alternative place to land if you can't make it back to the main landing area is exactly what you should do. Make sure you get retrained and understand every part of your canopy plan and flight before you jump again. Radios are a backup device and ultimately it is your responsibility to land safely and you who suffers the consequences if you don't. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Yes, she was a 1:36 half marathoner. That is moving pretty good. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

I'm for helping anyone who will produce the most jobs., in this case it is small business not huge stock firms. OK, but corporate welfare is part of why people will vote third party instead of hold their nose and vote for Republicans. (and of course some will also vote Democrat as well but you specifically criticized those who vote third party). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

So your solution is more corporate welfare? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Shah? Reads more and more like him with every post; doesn't it? Not Shah? Lots of like mined people though. How am I doing? It wasn't a compliment. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

I think Occam would go with the wife did not know, unless there is evidence to suggest she did. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

US Navy SEALS punished for leaking information

I believe they also received reduction in pay as well. Would have a detrimental effect on promotions. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
And there is a fairly significant black market for those in Canada. There is a fairly significant market for people in Virginia loading up a truck with cigarettes and driving it to New York, too. There are periodic busts but it is hugely profitable for smugglers. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Is it worth staying current?
Southern_Man replied to Mach1dmb's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Personally I jump every winter. I mostly do hop-and-pops so that I can stay current on canopy skills. I know my RW skills degrade some over the winter but I think it is worth it to make 3-4 jumps a month for canopy currency. I also continue to think it is fun, although I admit that it is less fun. If we have a really warm, nice day and other jumpers out I will do RW then, and I am enough South of you that those warms days are not too unusual. I know a lot of people who don't jump in the winter and that seems to work OK for them although they do have to start off a little slow in the spring (and most of them have many times as many jumps as you do).
