  1. If the groups' activities would have effected the outcome of the the election, then they were not deserving of tax exempt status. Pick one or the other. Blues, Dave The groups all would have qualified as tax exempt organizations, either under the provisions of 527 organization or as a 503 (c)(4) organization. In either case the contributions were not tax-deductible. There are different requirements in terms of registering and reporting for those two types of organizations and I am not suggesting that the differences are not important but it was never a question of tax-exempt vs. non-tax-exempt, just a question of what section of the code they fit in. 2. I'm thinking that article isn't a reliable source, since it indicates she was geared up w/ 100 pounds of harness, parachute, altimeter, and helmet. Maybe this should go in history and trivia? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. But of course. Which makes me wonder, what is the real intention of Cody Wilson? Certainly he understands it's -way- easier to make a zip gun from other easily obtainable items. So what's his motivation here? Number of likes on Facebook? $2 per thousand views on YouTube? proof of concept and also publicity. It is a unique project in that nobody has done it before. I am sure that it won't hurt his job prospects either. The fact that it is totally impractical is beside the point. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. You should have learned to finger trap material as part of Category H (replace main closing loop) on your A license card. It is also on the 2 page A license card. Here's a pretty good online tutorial as well: whoops, that link was an advanced finger trapping technique...I can't find one for basic finger trapping. Your rigger should also be able to show you. I'm a big fan on hands-on learning because I always seem to have issues seeing pictures and being able to tell if what I am doing is right. With hands on instruction you get to have somebody check you without developing an incorrect habit. Practice a few times and finger trapping is not that difficult. There is a bit more than that in making a new line set. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. The Richmond, VA based Tea Party group said yesterday that their application got heightened scrutiny. I don't remember what office processed it or if the article even said. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Ivy League schools are all private (well, Cornell is a bit of a weird hybrid) so residency status is irrelevant. Many of the Ivies have such massive endowments and great need based financial aide packages that they are truly one of the best options for lower class and lower middle class students in terms of affordability. 7. Was it loaded? Come at me with that Banana, then! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Based on worth to humanity, absolutely. Based on how much they bring in to the university, well, football and basketball sell tickets and TV money in the major colleges, and bring in tons of dollars . I know you know that, and I'm sure you're frustrated by it. Wendy P. Generally football and basketball lose millions of dollars for their university. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. Make an effort not to try to learn about skydiving on youtube (or on dz.com) before your first jump course. Only one reason is that the video says he got rid of his main because of a lineover, not line twists. Malfunctions happen which is why they will train you for them. Depending on where you look, the rate of cutaways is somewhere around 1 in 500-700 jumps. Usually line twists are not a cause for cutaways on large, docile student canopies like you will be jumping. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. This will all be covered in your first jump course. Just go to your course with an open mind and a view to learn and you will be fine. Yes, they teach and stress emergency procedures as part of that. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. In an attempt to un-Godwin (deGodwin?) the thread I'd like to point out that the Balfour Declaration to establish a Jewish homeland in the middle east dated from 1917 and there was massive Jewish immigration prior to the holocaust. Undoubtedly the holocaust may have given more urgency to those efforts in some quarters but Jewish nationalism predated that period. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. Hell, having been involved in multiple 501(c)(3) organizations there is pretty much no scrutiny of the applications. I'm sure a lot of them could do with a more careful vetting. But yeah, this was stupid. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. I don't see how this statement makes any sense, in an article where the IRS admits targeting based on political bias. Maybe a bad editing job? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. Can you explain this a little better? If a state wants to charge sales tax, it does. There are already states that charge sales tax for internet sales (9 total). If other states want to charge a sales tax for internet purchases, what is stopping them? Why is the federal government getting involved again? If a retailer is located out-of-state and does not have a physical location or other type of physical representation in the state, the state cannot require the retailer to collect their sales tax. 15. I disagree. Misdemeanors carry less consequences for a reason. They are less serious. Also, I've never heard that only certain felonies affect rights. Can you provide an example? 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(20)(A) expressly exempts certain white collar felonies such as antitrust or unfair trade practices.: (20) The term "crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year" does not include - (A) any Federal or State offenses pertaining to antitrust violations, unfair trade practices, restraints of trade, or other similar offenses relating to the regulation of business practices, or "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. this is largely incorrect, though I imagine the state variation can be considerable. CA, for example, includes many violent (and this is a very loosely defined term, much like sex offender" misdomeanors in the exclusion category. Depends heavily on the state. 17. "Hiking the Appalachian Trail" remains one of my favorite euphemisms. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. Best thing to do would be to bar people with violent misdemeanors from buying guns. My understanding is that it is only certain felonies that are disqualifying. The best predictor of future violent behavior is past violent behavior. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. people like you are the reason I can't get a good value on buggy whips nowadays What do you consider a good value? They are only $10: http://www.amazon.com/Abetta-Buggy-Whip-Black-66/dp/B002HIX7P8. At least for now there is no sales tax. You can find riding crops even cheaper. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. You should step away from the keyboard now. Different used markets have different standards. The seller did not misrepresent the gear and in accusing her of not having class you are revealing your own. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. It should really be checked by a rigger before the next jump. I know that is inconvenient but proper gear maintenance is important. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. No, the intent of this bill is to provide a mechanism of collection for those states which do charge a sales tax. It would not require any changes in state tax rates or policy. It is broken now. Customers buy all sorts of things over the internet that they theoretically owe tax for but there is no practical way for the state to collect that tax. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Don't address the issue of God. God is a faith matter, and faith is not for schools. Schools are for facts, math, science, etc. It's entirely correct to teach that evolution is a theory, but once you go into specific alternative theories (like intelligent design), then you have to decide if you want the "7 days" version, the "world on an elephant" version, etc. There's a world of difference between not teaching that God exists, and teaching that there is no God. Wendy P. intelligent design is not a scientific theory. It should not be taught in science class. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. Interposition has a long and not so glorious history. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. They don't pay it, they just collect it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
