PD Forcing Residents From Home During Boston Manhunt
Southern_Man replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
I dislike their message but I don't hate them because they speak it. I am against any sort of government imposed limits on their speech rights. Eh, you're nailed. They have free speech rights; the govt shouldn't limit them; they're still assholes. Some douche lawyer in Toronto, who puts out a lot of anti-govt tweets, apparently tweeted "Officer Down" celebrating Officer Collier's murder. Utterly vile and abhorrent. It's protected under Canada's free speech laws. But he's still a fucking asshole. Eh, you're probably right. I don't really feel like defending those guys. I do feel like it is important to recognize their free speech rights even when (maybe most especially when) they are being assholes. Paul can think I'm an asshole for not consenting to a warrant less search if he wants. I'm still not consenting. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

What do you mean by "not helping?" Does "not helping" include letting them search my property when I am not required to? Because if so, I'm an asshole. Warrant or get off my porch. Yes. Doing that would be, in my opinion, assholishness because the person doing it is slowing down the process of capturing the terrorist and cop killer. Every second a person stands at their door, locks it, requires the cops to kick it down anyway . . . that person is helping the terrorist and cop killer . . . by tying up forces which could be moving forward to the next location. A person may, in fact, be completely within their rights to do so, but it also makes them assholes. You and I have a very different definition of what somebody must do to be an asshole. I don't think a person is ever an asshole for exercising their civil rights. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

New Tandem Rig Soon to Enter the Market
Southern_Man replied to skydived19006's topic in Tandem Skydiving
It is called Reserve Boost, but I am not sure what it looks like (was not at PIA). I have a set of packing instructions for it on the way. Maybe Jerry can clarify. Can be retrofitted for a sport rig by sending your lanyard and reserve bridle to the factory--i.e. cannot be field installed. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

I don't trust cops. I'm not letting them in my house without a warrant. If that makes me an asshole, then so be it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
How many jumps do you have? How frequently are you jumping? What happens if you get injured or unable to jump for a part of that 40 weeks? Why do you want to downsize anyway? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

I set up an LLC, got an IRS EIN and set up a separate small business bank account. Only business income goes in there, only business expenses come out. Also have a separate credit card just for my business. I made this arrangement partly to make record keeping easier. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Why isn't there an AAD with adjustable firing altitude?
Southern_Man replied to tsf's topic in Safety and Training
So, at least 8 different rigs. Does anybody know if they all used the same reserve canopy (I mean design, we know they used different sizes)? Does anybody know if they all had the same AAD? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
There are thousands of polling organizations. There are certainly some who take and release biased numbers in order to sway opinions or for some other reason. However your claim was that the poll was invalid because the sample was not a large enough proportion of the total population. That does not reflect a very good understanding of statistics. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
-
The margin of error in a sample decreases as the size of the sample increases. The size of the total population is not important in determining the margin of error. Generally you have to quadruple the size of the sample to 1/2 the size of the margin of error. This is all Statistics 101. There can be issues with getting a representative sample. I wish we had more information about all of the incidents. I was giving some credence towards the "small overstuffed container" theory until this last one, which included a student rig. They don't generally fall into that category. Sure would be easier if all the information was known and collated. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

8 different rigs. Maybe it isn't the rigs. Maybe we should be looking for factors that are common in ALL of these incidents. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
Hi Jerry, Another example that I see frequently on these forums is people evading VAT taxes or import taxes on rigs that they buy via coming to the states to pick it up, asking for the wrong information to be written on the label, etc. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

What are the activation parameters in the various modes? I may still have the manual in English on my computer at home but I don't have it at work. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Yes, when one truck load can net you 2 million dollars (and I guess you could do something in a box truck or moving van without a CDL (ryoder) which would net just a little less) then the incentive is very high. Of course you would have to have a little capitol and the knowledge/contacts to get them back into the supply chain up there. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line area today

My understanding is that they first re-routed a few runners than quickly abandoned the race. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
http://money.cnn.com/2013/04/16/news/economy/cigarette-smuggling/index.html?hpt=hp_c3 Running cigarettes from Virginia to New York is huge business. Some claim that up to 64% of the cigarettes in New York are smuggled from somewhere else to avoid high state taxes. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Off topic, but not likely. The current field size is pretty much all the traffic the roads can handle. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
