  1. But how do we get the DZO's/fellow jumpers/DZ employees/S&TA/Ect that aren't locally enforcing anything to start enforcing something? Refuse to jump w/ the 200 jump wonder on a 120 w/ a wingloading of 1.6. Refuse to jump on the same load. Tell the DZO or S&TA that you won't jump on the same load and tell him/her why. The solution is in our hands. Same solution to the 50 jump wonder w/ a gopro. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. Probably just a mormon looking at bubble porn. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. Just for curiosity sake can you post a picture? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. What is the source for that graphic? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. what canopy? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. What a dork! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. That's what happens when you start verbing nouns; verbs proliferate. Verbing nouns is bad and should be prohibited. Verbing is my favorite way to fun. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Exactly. I usually feel labeling something a terror attack is a prelude to do away with constitutional protections and/or civil liberties. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. You don't ever have to renew. If you want continuous membership you have to renew by 7/31/13. If you wait until the last minute and then send it in, well, if you want to go somewhere and jump on 8/2, there is no guarantee it will be processed by then. 11. Right. In addition it would be a major management challenge (and likely very expensive) to actually buy up all of the available numbers. The calculation also totally ignores the taxes paid on winnings. My very rough, back to the envelope calculation is that the jackpot would have to be well over 1 billion to make this strategy worth it and probably closer to 2 billion. There are a lot of assumptions in there so nailing down a firm figure is very difficult. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. I have no idea how all of this is going to unfold. However we did go through just a couple of years ago the setting up of similar exchanges with Medicare Part D. There was a lot of confusion and uncertainty. I helped some people navigate through the choices available and the online process actually worked fairly smoothly. It is possible that this is going to be a much more complicated and less functional system. Just thought I would throw one possible data point in there. I suspect you are not much interested in data based on your posting history. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. Challenge game finished! You won the challenge with 16689 points against 15279. Funny how we both misplaced a beautiful red brick Russian church a few kilometers SW of Moscow while in fact it was way to the NE... Did you miss the road sign towards Milagres / Bahia - Brasil? Note to self: A road sign that points you to Milagres is not the same as actually being in Milagres
  14. I wouldn't. I value the freedom of the press far too much. You are free to shake your fist at the world, but that freedom stops where someone else's nose begins. Likewise, the press is free to report what they wish, but there should be consequences if they abuse that freedom in a manner that costs others their lives. Blues, Dave We will have to agree to disagree. Generally the right to shake my fist ends at somebody else's nose. The press is not inflicting damage on other people, they are just printing information. Their right to do so without government intervention is protected by the constitution and acts as a powerful restraint on tyranny. Like all freedoms it may have downsides as well. 16. Thanks for posting this. I assume that a AAD will not fire under this scenario because the skydiver has not re accelerated, however rather than me assume could you point me towards a source of information that would help be get more educated on this. Thanks. You have it right, the AAD will not fire until you reach the fire speed. Then it may not fire if you are under the shut--off height. You should read the manual for your AAD brand because the firing parameters are different. Know your gear, knowledge is power. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  18. I'm not allowed to. I work for my Dad at his house and he wants the grandkids to be able to use the computer when they visit. I keep telling him to get a computer just for the kids. Maybe he will this time now that I've lost an entire day of productivity having to mess with this. Seriously, give them a non-administrator account that they can use. Much, much better even if it doesn't solve all problems. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. Depends on the state. VA does not allow you to claim anonymously but I know some other states do. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. I don't think you "know" physiologically unless you are measuring as they did in the experiment. You may "feel" less psychological stress but that is not necessarily the same thing. Many things people think they know turn out to be incorrect under examination. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. It is often said that an Optimum 160 packs smaller than a PD160R. I want to know if that is because a PD160R is actually 175 sqft whereas an Optimum 160 is only 160 sqft. People also think that a Smart 160, a PD160R and an Optimum 160 are all the same size. But are they? We're talking almost 10% here, that's almost one full size step. Does one size matter, or is it bullshit? PD uses the same method to measure the PD-R as they use to measure the Optimum. The Optimum packs smaller because the fabric is smaller (thinner). Other manufacturers use other methods. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Upon reading your clicky it appears the "insubstantial portion" test refers to 501(c)(3) organizations. The 501(c)(4) cannot be "primarily" engaged in political activites. The distinguishing mark appears to be the amount to which the activities engaged in are non-partisan or partisan in nature. In some cases it is indeed a murky distinction. 23. Academic studies on stretching are all over the place. I am a runner and it is very difficult to find repeatable studies that show that stretching improves performance or prevents injury (the two most common benefits). However I think this has to be take with several grains of salt becuase: 1. there are many ways to stretch and many protocols. Different studies use different protocols. 2. It is important to look at what they are measuring. 3. Most exercise physiology studies are short term (and often have few participants as well) and as such may overlook or underestimate longer term benefits. Skydiving is not weightlifting. In the short term there is no doubt that stretching may weaken your explosive muscle power. However skydiving performance is much more dependent on flexibility and much less dependent on explosive power than weightlifting. Specificity is important. 24. It's OK, ignorance is curable. Perhaps you should have paid more attention in school. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. Let's see. The 503C(4) rule excludes political activity. I wonder how the Tea Party believes it can qualify under that rule. I do not believe that is correct. This is from an article on the ABA website: 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations, such as the League of Conservation Voters and AARP, are also tax exempt, but contributions to them are not tax deductible. The trade-off for this less beneficial tax treatment is that they may engage in unlimited lobbying and also may engage in some partisan political activities (subject to state or federal election law rules). Similarly, labor unions (501(c)(5) organizations) and trade associations (501(c)(6) organizations) also may lobby without limits and engage in some partisan political activities. Since most of the concerns about tax-exempt organizations and lobbying center around 501(c)(3) public charity organizations, they will be the focus of the rest of this article. Unlimited lobbying and some partisan political activities does not sound like what you said. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
