That's a fair question. I doubt drugs being used to treat are the only factors involved, but if there is a list of ones that would be considered prima facie evidence of disqualification to own, then it would be a good idea to publish it along with the statute. Yes, because what we want is gun owners or potential gun owners avoiding treatments and medications which could help them. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

what he said. I previously loaded my current canopy at almost 1.6, but lost a few kg and now load at 1.32.. effectively UPSIZING I am currently loaded 1.25 but I really, really need to lost 20 lbs. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

What do they recommend for a user inspection? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

If this passes you will have less people seeking treatment. That includes voluntary admissions, but it is more sweeping than that. You will see less people willing to seek outpatient therapy, less people willing to talk honestly w/ their doctor about any problems they are having, less people willing to take psych meds. How long does AFF take (aggressive)?
Southern_Man replied to corpkid's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is no accounting for weather. You may get lucky, you may spend a lot of time looking up at the sky. After AFF you are not a licensed jumper, it is unclear if you know that from your statements. You would be much better off continuing to work with your initial instructors and coaches towards completing that A license/25 skydives then running off somewhere. Good luck. I am convinced that this is the solution. Honestly you should not jump with him at his current wingloading. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Yes, anytime you create negative consequences for seeking treatment and stigmatize mental illness you lower the rate at which people voluntarily seek treatment. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Arizona voter registration law overturned
Southern_Man replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
If you don't have ANY, then it is hard to get any. Some come here illegally with no U.S.-valid ID and manage to get driver's license and more...apparently fairly easily. Pretty easy to get a birth certificate...no ID needed...just information. From there it's almost a straight shot. Different states are different but in my state you need an ID to get a birth certificate. You need a birth certificate to get an ID. I have no idea about folks who come here illegally, I am simply talking about people who were born and raised here. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

Exoneree Faces Ex-Wife in Compensation Lawsuit
Southern_Man replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
I believe the fund (for wrongful imprisonment) is a statutory creation and not the product of a lawsuit the husband filed. I'm sure she can find somebody to sue the state but wouldn't like her chances. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
Exoneree Faces Ex-Wife in Compensation Lawsuit
Southern_Man replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
If she is owed compensation then that should come from the state, not from him. Her injury is separate from his. His compensation was for his injury. It was not wages or anything of the sort. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
From the article: "McDonald said the Slaton Police Department will issue an apology as long as the mother agrees not to file a lawsuit." Having been offered similar terms myself by an American enforcement agency, I am particularly disgusted by that. DON'T DO IT! Don't let them off the hook. An apology is nothing. An apology is the right thing to start with. However, the fact that the department made it conditional, also makes it meaningless. The honorable thing would be for a leader in the department to apologize regardless of the expectations of any action - that would be the right and sincere thing to do. Apologize with no strings attached. then deal with the fallout anyway. Yes, by offering a contingent apology haven't you already admitted doing something you shouldn't have? I haven't run into any personally, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Also of note, there is a video on installing PD Slinks here: http://vimeo.com/29783763 There is a soft links manual for Aerodyne here: http://www.flyaerodyne.com/download/SoftLinkManual.pdf Very important that the O.P. has the right manual, information for his specific equipment. I put these links here for information only and again encourage anybody changing canopies for the first time to have hands on help. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Maybe it is not worth much at this point but there are assembly instructions included in the various container manuals. If you did those in reverse... If this is your first time disassembling a main canopy I advise getting hands on help. It is not terribly difficult but some things are best shown rather than read. I've been checked for currency, license, USPA membership, and repack date but don't remember ever being asked about my wingloading. I've been asked my weight (for weight/balance) but not in conjunction w/ canopy size. I've been to 10-12 DZs, so not a huge sample. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

For this reason I recommend the student suits. Of course your rigger can repair/patch any holes you put in it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

New Jersey dad wears Nazi uniform in court during custody hearing
Southern_Man replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
It could be argued that sending a kid to school with the name "Adolf Hitler Campbell" is abuse. As bad or worse than the old Johnny Cash song: "A Boy Named Sue". Is that what the original complaint for abuse that took custody was for? If it was, then I'm sorry, as dumb as I think that is I don't think it crosses the threshold at which the state should be able to take your children away from you. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -
Disagree w/ the decision. A clear abuse of privacy and ignoring the protections of the 4th amendment. Cops can make up any pretext they want for arresting anybody. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Canopy Manufacturers' Role in Rapid Downsizing
Southern_Man replied to NWFlyer's topic in Safety and Training
I don't think the manufacturer has any responsibility towards those who buy their canopies. I have no problem with the manufacturer (and dealer) selling them to any willing buyer. I do think the manufacturers should shy away from sponsoring under qualified pilots on their wings. It is not a moral issue to me, though. It's simply bad business. Maybe I'm too cold hearted.
