  1. Generally people who have not paid into the system at least a minimum number of counted quarters are not eligible for SSDI but may receive SSI benefits. There are exceptions to this, such as a Disabled Adult Child, who draws off of their parent's record. The Social Security system already scales benefits based on the totals paid in. It does not include any lifetime limit based on contributions though. Of course the government could do that if they chose. I am not sure that makes any sense to do that on what is, in the case of SSDI, an insurance benefit. My life insurance or health insurance benefits are not limited to what I have paid in premiums. Social Security, including disability, has never had a resource limit. It has been an income program only and has never been means tested. I don't think it should be, but others are welcome to opposite opinions. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. I put in a raised bed last year and had good success, except what the groundhog ate. Got a few surprises for him this year. Anyway, it is fairly easy. So far all I've planed this year is lettuce, which is now covered in snow I'll start tomatoes and peppers from seed sometime in the next week or two. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. I had never heard of her before today. BEST performance of the day. Listening to her right now Not sure if Grace has ever skydived or knows skydivers but she has two songs which are skydiving related: Parachute Heart "We had a skydive love affair, doomed from the very start" Flying or Falling "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. Jealous, I really love Grace Potter. Seen her once and going again in August. Knew she was in Oz for a couple of festivals. Enjoy. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. Seems to me he may also be leaving the center cell pretty open and exposed? LIke on a reserve? I am not sure, I don't psycho pack and am having a bit of a hard time following his description but I think you are right the problem is what he is doing with the nose cells. 6. Only the non-method specific parts. An instructor rated in the specific method used must teach the portions related to that method. The IRM suggests those portions are: (1) equipment familiarization as it pertains to the first jump (2) basic canopy control (3) parachute emergency procedures (4) landings and landing emergencies (obstacles) (5) aircraft emergencies for students cleared to freefall self-supervision and who have completed the Category E aircraft briefing in the USPA Integrated Student Program "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  8. I thought lesbians preferred Suburus?? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. most worthy of serious discussion, based upon thought, reflection and mature demeanor. Speaker's Corner really isn't the place for any of that, is it? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. I was actually thinking of qualifying as a divorced spouse. The marriage has to have lasted for 10 years. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Nice looking rig and you should be proud of it. Not all matchy-matchy but you can get that later... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. I'm not an active jumper but at one time I too needed to get current from a multi-year lay-off, I spent several hours with an instructor on the ground reviewing and drilling safety procedures, in the harness too, but I saw no need to make the first jump with an instructor...what would an instructor help me with in the air? I wasn't going to turn points or try new things and If I did have some problem, what was the instructor going to do? remind me to pull? scold me in the air for poor body position? I was so scared shitless on that first jump that all I could do was sightsee and do practice pulls for 10,000 ft. I probably had about a 2000 jumps, but it made no difference....I was really nervous and stressed out. The 2nd and 3rd jump I made that day felt like old times, on the 4th I was diving late and docking on a big formation. Of course this was different times and different attitudes with much less oversight going on. These are things each individual jumper needs to evaluate and decide what makes them comfortable. In hindsight I was pushing it a bit, but I wasn't exactly being reckless. I was more commenting on what would be the likely requirements. I think most of the drop zones I've been at (which is only a couple handfuls) would require that. I'm not an instructor and not really saying that is a good or correct procedure. As mentioned several times it really differs from dropzone to dropzone. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. That will differ from dropzone to dropzone. I would think that would include at the very least a thorough emergency procedure review and at least one recurrency jump with a coach or instructor. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. Anyone can do this right now with an opposite sex friend. What's the difference? This is getting a bit far afield of my direct knowledge and experience but my understanding is the survivor's benefits are based on the wages earned while the couple is married. Also, I believe there is a 10 year marriage requirement for survivor benefits. These are based on Social Security requirements. Private pensions can already pass to survivors (same or opposite sex) based on their own rules. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. At least in theory there is no difference in how children are treated under the law whether their parents were never married or if they are divorced. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. Well, they had a crash at Pitt Meadows where it appears the maintenance work was not done and that contributed heavily to the crash: The two engines in the aircraft were PWC gas turbo-prop model PT6A-20, serial numbers 21606 (left engine) and 20205 (right engine). Because of their impact damage, the engines could not be run in a test-cell facility. They were shipped to PWC for disassembly, examination, and analysis. The left engine and its components were torn down, inspected, and tested with a TSB investigator present. The only significant anomaly found was that the high-pressure, engine-driven fuel pump drive splines were worn and corroded beyond the point of failure (see Photo 4 and Photo 5). Without fuel being supplied from the high-pressure fuel pump to the fuel control unit, the engine will shut down immediately. Photo 4. Left engine drive splines and coupling Photo 5. Close-up of external spline wear The right engine and its components were disassembled, inspected, and tested. No faults were found that would explain a loss of power in this engine. Aircraft Records and Maintenance A review of the aircraft records indicates that, from 01 April 2006 to 06 March 2008 (approximately 23 months), the aircraft flew 402 hours. PWC Service Bulletin (SB) 1803R2 specifies a maximum time before overhaul (TBO) of 3600 hours. At the time of the occurrence, the left engine had exceeded this TBO; it had accumulated 4435 hours in service since its last overhaul completed in 1999. The right engine had accumulated 2478 hours since its last overhaul. Records also indicate that the manufacturer's Phase 3 and Phase 4 inspections of the airframe and engines were accomplished in Lodi, California, United States, on 06 March 2008 and the aircraft had flown approximately 170 hours since that date. One of the items listed on the maintenance check sheet required inspection of the high-pressure fuel pump of both engines. It indicated the following: "Engine-driven fuel pump coupling shaft – Inspect for fretting and/or corrosion when replacing outlet filter." While the inspection for the right-hand engine was initialled as completed by the Airframe and Power-Plant (A&P) mechanic, the same item for the left engine was marked as not applicable (N/A). The mechanic was not aware of the procedure in the PWC Maintenance Manual, which details how to inspect the splines in situ using a cotton swab. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. Thanks for posting, that is good news indeed. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. lif Of course it is possible. I am a libertarian (or at least lean that way). I believe the government has no business regulating an entire range of behaviors which I do not approve of. Are you saying that it is possible to vote against your moral convictions and NOT violate your conscience? Politicians do it all the time, but then I'm not sure most of them have moral convictions (or consciences either). Personally, I try not to lie to myself. YMMV No, I am saying that it is quite possible to realize that such things as rights and morality are quite different and that it is not necessary to tie legality to morality as tightly as some people would like to. I am personally against using marijuana, have no interest in doing so, and would tell anyone who asked my advice that they should abstain. I also view our "war on drugs" as a ludicrous waste of resources and assault on civil liberties and wish for immediate legalization. My personal view is that government is not and should not be used for morality. It is very poorly constructed for that purpose. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  21. This is how it should be. NO reason the state should use churches as an agent for who can be married (and no reason churches should allow themselves to be used in this way either). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Not so. some ellipticals like a Stilletto only have 3 D attachment points on each side if I remember correctly. Tracy - lay your canopy out on it's topskin and then COUNT the number of attachment points on one side - That's the right number. For a Sabre it's 4, 4, 4, 4. For a Stilletto it's 4, 4, 4, 3. - I work front to back because that's how I pack... some folks do it differently. Now just remember that sequence. Anything that attaches to an edge is either a stabiliser or a brake line and (IMO) can be discounted because they're dealt with differently during the packing sequence. He has a silhouette and is just learning to pack. Hopefully he won't be dealing w/ an elliptical and the less-standard line grouping for a while. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Not just a good chance. That is an F-111 canopy. Take a pass and find something else. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. Yes "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. There are 10 lines in each group on a 9 cell canopy. That includes one stabilizer line on each side. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
