There are a lot of places in the world that don't use it now. The Middle East is the only one I've been to. They use a hand and water. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

As a coffee aficionado w/ some ties to Ethiopia, I already knew that story. It is probably lost to history but it was a brave person who came up w/ and first sampled yogurt. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

I stayed at a Hampton Inn right near Madison Square garden for, I think, 143/night (not including city taxes, I think it was 189 after all the taxes?) back in February. Great location as you had a subway right there and were basically near the heart of the city anyway. I thought that was a great deal. Decent enough hotel, not fancy but clean and had everything needed. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

We will have price controls when people actually pay for their medical care directly. You have to put the right incentives in place. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Arab guilty of rape after consensual sex with Jew

Being a lying SOB shouldn't be a crime. Reporting to the police that you were violently raped and falsely accusing somebody you voluntarily had sex with should be. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

Arab guilty of rape after consensual sex with Jew
Southern_Man replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
His "crime" was lying about being Jewish and single while he was not Jewish and married. don't twist it to sound as if inter-religion sex is outlawed in Israel. and, there was no ruling here, it was a plea bargain but again, I don't think it is a criminal issue. Do you believe this case would have had a similar result if the man was Jewish (and married) and the woman was a Palestinian woman? One of the appalling things to me is that this woman first accused him of violent rape. With that poor credibility she may well have already known he was Arab and married. If your point is that the ruling is internally consistent, well, I guess you are right. I still have a very, very difficult time calling anything that happened here rape. It seems you are arguing that they already have antimiscegenation laws and this plea is a natural outgrowth of that. I still cannot condone that. You are not going to be able to keep people from having sex. It would be more honest to just make sex between different religions illegal. I cannot call this rape in any way shape or form. Also, the woman first claimed she had been violently raped. Seems obvious to me that this is a classic case of buyers remorse, which should never be the basis for a rape charge. There are no women out there without issues. There are no men out there w/out issues either. We all got issues. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

You ENTIRELY missed the point. Culture and religion aren't necessarily the same thing. I think I did miss the point. can you please elaborate? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

I would think in this case those two truths might overlap. That's a lot of undigetible fiber to consume. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

Wow, DSE, I am shocked that you would say this was not a f**ked up ruling. I guess you were okay w/ U.S. antimiscegenation laws, since, you know, it was prohibited by the culture and many religious authorities said it was wrong. After all, what would happen if they had children? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

Is this a statute, or is it based on case law? I am interested in reading the statute or the precedents. I suspect he would not have been convicted if he had lied about his income or profession but I guess I a cynical that way. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

Would it still be "rape by deception" if the guy had lied about his income or occupation? Of course it is not moral to lie to somebody to get them to sleep with you but if the ONLY lie that is prosecutable is about ethnicity, that takes you down some truly frigtening logic about race, ethnic purity, etc. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

Do you 'quarter' your slider?
Southern_Man replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm new, but I am very meticulous about getting the slider all the way up and quartering it. I also make sure I wrap the tail tight, too so it stays that way. I am careful about this because my canopy (PISA hornet) has a reputation for slammer openings and I want to do everything possible to avoid them. So far all of mine have been great. USPA BOD meeting in Nashua, NH
Southern_Man replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Looks like it is a matter or state law, though, which means that simply stating, "the waivers won't stand up" is not accurate or helpful. Some may, some may not. I honestly don't know how I feel and am trying to sort out all the issues. I am currently leaning towards the 'let DZs make their own decision" simply because of the multitude of jurisdictions they operate in. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?" -

Normiss, Thank you, it is very helpful to have actual cases to look at--which is what I was asking for. My googling skills aren't the best but it looks like the Florida legislature has enacted a statute upholding the validity of a parentally signed waiver. Previously apparently the validity of these waivers were dependent only on case law. Looks like it may only apply to motorsports and theme parks, though. Not sure why the legislature didn't apply it to all commercial adventure sports as Florida has quite the Scuba industry, too. I guess that is similar to the Utah bill on skiing mentioned earlier.
