If you do a little research however, you'll see that the Pegasus Missile program was abandoned shortly after that test. publicly. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

could it be the lack of respect the get in return? Excuse me? Who's getting the lack of respect here? I've seen these people turn their backs on wounded vets that came out to talk to them. It's a horrible double standard. your quote from above is one, "no one would speak to him". So much for respect the rank/position even if you dont respect the man. but in general i'm referring to the ignorant attitude of SOME(i dont think I can stress this word enough for it to seep thru the filters of some forum members) uneducated soldiers (and SOME of their leaders even who encourage their ignorance. I was arguing (friendly ofc) with a Capt about it over lunch today). Who cannot understand that lack of support for a MISSION is not lack of support for the SOLDIER. i will not (edit to fix typo) defend anyone who turns their back on a soldier.. Soldiers do a JOB and a thankless one for the most part (and no i dont consider yellow magnetic car stickers any form of thanks tbh) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

ludicrous.. better handwriting simply requires PRACTICE... hell you can get the same training materials used for children at most grocery stores.. not that i can say much... i have to FORCE my self to slow down to Print in a manner than is readable to anyone who hasnt known me forever... my cursive is (used to be, i'm out of practice) beautiful... not bragging per se, i used to write a lot of my term papers in a coffee shop and had more than one waitress stop and make a comment about it... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

'theologians' would.. IF he existed at all.. both Jesus (but more so Paul, who is responsible for a great deal of the 'distortions' of what could be considered the basic message of Jesus) were Revolutionaries... NOT theologians.. when i'm bored later (and near my library) i'll hunt down the various Biblical references that directly support the fact the NT message is clearly one of fundamental Political and Cultural change, but with your background you shouldn't have much trouble at all finding them yourself.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

McCain (one of the few) has been consistent all the way through... Bush's fundamental mistake was sidelining the MILITARY EXPERTS who ACCURATELY DESCRIBED what was necessary... he still hasnt admitted to that and likely never will... it is a shame enough 'top brass' didnt have the balls to object loudly and publicly when this Administration forced them into a badly planned, poorly thought out mission with less than a third of the force required to accomplish it... Politicians always fail when they attempt to micro manage military affairs.. they should state the Objective then LISTEN when the Military responds with the Requirement. If the Cost is to high to pay Politically then perhaps the Mission isnt worth it.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i think you underestimate the architects of your religion... they knew very well the kind of cultural revolution they were pursuing and the finances required to achieve it.. ah.. my mistake.. i typed Church where i should have put Religion... sorry for the confusion... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

So, I guess famous Americans like Presidents Lincoln and FDR are hypocrites of the highest order. And Clinton (the dodgy draft dodger), too. Did you hear he got a blow job? Are you a big fan of Hitler? not a student of history are you? care to find ANY nice thing i've ever said about Clinton? (honestly i give a rats ass who he fucked or felated him.. his leadership however was less than stellar on many fronts) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Baywatch is/was one of the most viewed Western TV shows in the Arab world... you are very close to the truth..Cultural Dominance is cheaper and more effective than Military Dominance... takes longer and no one gets reelected or remembered in the history books for simply 'outlasting' them until they slowly emerge into the 20th century.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Not exactly. The precedant was set when Abraham tithed (which means 10%) to Melchizedek (Gen 14:20) hundreds of years before Levitical law. Interestingly, in Matthew 23 while JC chastised the Pahrisees for their unfair dealings with people, he does indicate the tithe was something they (us?) should be doing. Read that and let me know if you still think the tithe is not a Christ command. Of course in other passage he indicates it is the attitude of the heart that matters the most, but I don't think he was indicating the tithe was no longer valid ... at least as a starting place. hmmm could it be that those who reportedly recorded (not going to bring that arguement here so..) the words of Christ recognized they NEEDED FUNDING to build their church? such clearly secular, material motives call alot of the NT into question...why would God (O3 remember) really care? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Whether or not you are a Christian, the teachings attributed to Jesus form the basis of a pretty good way to live your life i doubt you will have any argument there from any front.. the studies cited above fail in that they do not separate 'personal belief' from 'organized religion'... the two are LIGHT YEARS apart.... and well illustrated by the need/desire of 'organized religion' and some of its fanatical followers (often exhibited right here) to 'convert the heathens' believe whatever you wish, whatever gives you strength and gets you through life... just dont attempt to convince ME (or anyone else) that your PERSONAL opinion (and that is all it comes down to in the end) is the "one true path" for all... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

quality over quantity every time... neither.. the mind and body are useless without each other. (although i MAY amend my answer were the mind able to roam freely without the physical.) no issue with nudity anywhere really.. quality again the human race will die before 'world peace' is possible. no desire for children ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i'm damn glad it was.. granted i had military static line experience prior, but when i did my 'first' (and second) tandem (as a 'dummy' for someone working on their TI rating) i was profoundly disappointed in the experience.. I honestly dont think i'd have continued if i'd done a tandem as a 'rollercoaster ride' the way many people seem to... but then i've always taken pride in being personally responsible for my actions and my fate, so perhaps the 'cargo' ride is more enjoyable for different personality types.. for the same reason i've never really enjoyed bungie jumping.. as someone once put it.. 'your corpse would have performed exactly the same' no effort involved... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

not that i approve (as words have only the power you give them, and substitution does nothing to change the meaning or intent) but while i was in a military leadership course one of the black hats would curse in phonetics... "what the Foxtrot are you Alpha's doing? this is the worst Sierra i have ever seen in my entire life...." needless to say i got smoked often for laughing at him... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

i wish i could remember all the words to a punk rock song a good friend wrote (cant find his number anywhere "Skinny and Small" something to the effect of "you played the field i set the bench... now i'm under your window with a 20 inch wrench... Skinny and Small...Skinny and Small.. Skinny and Small" i think just writing that song helped him work out alot of issues (I met him as an adult) i mean DAMN you should have seen his wife... wow what a hottie he married.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

not necessarily. Many people just dont see the need, use, or expense in the 'additional' licenses. I'm one, and i know of at least 3 jumpers with more than 2000 jumps with only an 'A' as well (with more in between) I can (and have) learn everything the 'additional' licenses require without taking any tests, or paying any more fees (and fee's seem like the driving organizational reason for additional licenses anyway) to be perfectly honest i'm firmly against such forms of 'oversight' once you are signed off do what you wish (within the DZO's tolerance ofc) but then i'm generally against ANY form of regulation in personal recreation. this i agree with, but i see it more as an effect of treating the DZ strictly as a 'business'. Due to Management or Policies with the larger DZ's, most people have no desire to hang out any longer than the planes are running, which means the social bonds outside of your level and discipline are not formed at all. The Business First approach has driven out the 'Family Feeling' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
i think that is a very good point.. I'm a military brat.. My friends are the people i liked and bonded with wherever i was, and not the group i happened to be thrust into next.. i will admit to having a list for a while of "people who i will go out of my way to make miserable if the opportunity presents". But at some point in college i had the epiphany that as long as i held any feelings towards them i was still allowing them some measure of control or influence over my life. So over a period of time i 'found' all the 'tiny hooks' and cut the strings (mentally, emotionally) that still pulled in their direction.. shortly after that revelation i learned my 'arch enemy' (the one Football player who i fought with several times in HS) had shot himself while in college because an injury had ended all chances of professional football.. for a little while i was smug about it.. eventually it dawned on me he'd given up any opportunity to become more than he was (in HS) and that i'd lost someone who (inadvertently) helped me define who I was by opposing him... learning to forgive my "opponents", and recognizing (and thanking in a few cases) the effects their opposition had on my development and attitudes was a huge awakening for me...... but I still cant see any reason to attempt to 'step into the same stream twice' it just doesnt work for me... you can never really "go home" because 'home' is a moving target.... right underneath you.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
