technically (it may have changed i went thru basic 9 years ago.) absolutely! in fact i set my brakes, shake it out and open my slider and cock the pc everytime, but i have to say having a packer rocks!! perhaps, but my time is more valuable than my money..i can devote my time and energy to the jump and so make more jumps per day when paying a packer (my personal record is 9) than by packing myself. also i see at it as a currency issue too, i havent personally packed my main in 5 months..but was jumping every weekend up until recently. However my packer has packed it 3 days a week in that time and i get lovely, consistant openings, and can make quick calls too! so i always take care of my packer she takes care of me. why would i want to add my less skillful packing skills into the equation if i dont have too?? i do plan to start packing for my self here at Kapowsin, and i'm know i'll grab someone to help me the first few times again..(where the loads dont run quite so fast and furious as Eloy in fact i'll probably pack my main for the first time this year on Sat. actually he could have done quite a bit. any info about system capabilities above and beyond what is commercially published can result in increased risk and increased casualties...luckily he was an idiot. based on the 'admitedly limited' info i've seen he's certainly guilty. part of the big problem is the way the definitions of 'conservative' and 'liberal' and right/left, have shifted over time.. originally conservative meant conservative of govermental powers ie. keep it out of my life until my rights and those of another conflict. when disagrements occur then the rule of law takes over. until that point anything i do that affects only myself and/or my family should be allowed.. by that definition i can in many ways pick issues from both sides of the parties and not be contradictory.. unfortunately goverment is also about enforcing social mores and so things like drug use, abortion, marital rights etc are legislated as well.. save me from those who know better than i... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i'm not so sure i agree with that, yes i'm a local, and it was certainly crowded (more crowded than i'd imagined) but in most cases there was such a continous flow of jumpers that the landing direction was pretty obvious..plus most days (i was there nearly every day from the 23-6) the winds were actually pretty consistant..(of course that was also consistantly cross-wind on the main landing area..) the only thing i found occasionally confusing was a 180 that looked lower than i would have ever attempted sometimes creating the illusion that they were landing in the opposite direction until the turn.. the rule is if you cant land in the 'set' direction, land off..lots of people did, but lots others didnt want to walk ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
