LANDING?? the RC box spun in (but stood up) the first jump, then turned for the trees and got hung on the second (servos stripped see the thread in the swoop forum) i havent seen Andy fly it yet, and i just met him, but i dont think he's quite so nuts as to try and land it... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

somthing like 3 feet or so...i havent measured it, but was there the first day he was playing with the RC box to fly it..that thing is cool...looks like an elliptical pilot chute. i hope the sky clears today so i can watch him play some more..at a 68mph fall rate, you could almost track along with him under it ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Ian Astbury has lost his voice (and the fire as well) since the cult's high point, but otherwise i'd love to see it. Unfortunately i'm in Seattle....Ian was technically( range, control etc) a much better singer than Morrison was but since his decline i he's probablly in the same range...(and he probably wont fall off the stage drunk several times during the show either) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

did he fly it today?? if the skies do the same thing manyanna I'll head out to play after lunch...i really want to see the vid..is he through with playing with the RC box? one of the UAV engineers i work with is supposed to hook me up with some high tension servos from his RC aircraft (not govt issue ) I dont know if i'll see him friday or not though.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

mine is 0144 the label sheet identifies it as a M4 i had the ROL switched to a BOC and have velcro (that is in good condition, and stays closed well) I've had several people look at it say i need to keep an eye on the velcro wear but otherwise it was fine for freeflying..is there something else perhaps i should know? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

actually i GET your point rather well, and do not entirely disagree, however your method of delivery leaves your argument the poorer, and makes your opinion (and a great deal of this sort of discussion IS opinion.[I]remember history is written by the victors, however it is not always written well) look foolish in comparison. If you are incapable of presenting your view any better than that, then you shouldnt bother since you only give credence to the opposition by your lack of articulate argument.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

interesting topic, lots of room for discussion... of course it wont go anywhere if you cant present your points without the condescension, angry sarcasm and sideways personal attacks. plus the resolution & update rates on weather doppler is terrible, its not like there was an E8 or AWACS tracking the debris, but it would give a very rough estimate (say perhaps 10km for pieces over 10m) add that doppler would have lost the debris at a significant altitude and you still have a HUGE search area even for larger pieces.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nah IMO 'wuffo' only applies to those who cannot grasp why we would do such a thing. anyone interested in (or understanding of, but not interested in trying) doesnt qualify as a "wuffo' to me..i guess we need another catchy title for 'non-skydivers' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I agree with Dave, One can make a huge difference, and Mike O and crew (say hi to Sean and Dusty too when/if you see them) have a really good program that goes thru all positions in a progression that really helps you understand how your body flies..sure you can go to them and say "i'd like to focus on headdown" but IMO i got lots more from following their plan and focusing on specfic issues as they appear. Sean made 2 corrections to my sit (which i thought was pretty good until then) and my mobility and control made a huge leap on the next jump...he showed me the difference between what 'works' and what 'works really well' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
