does JT know about this?? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

a proper PLF DOES spread the impact over as much of the body as possible and translates vertical speed into horizontal where it can be dissipated by continuing to roll if necessary... here are a couple of references i found with a quick google search.. practicing the PLF Improper PLF high on error list Edit: this ones for Bill Von i tend(ed) to do more of a roll ingrained from years of akidio, but the fundamentals are the same, and IME seemed to be equally effective.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

uh the movie (and the book you may have heard of it) is called "Return of the King" you dont have to think at all for any movie, but there is quite a bit of subtext going on that you probably missed if you went to the matrix thinking its only purpose was to be an over budget CGI action flick..unfortunately even the directors got a bit to enamored with the effects at the expense of the story. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Tracking / vertical speeds
Zenister replied to SkydiveMonkey's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
true and as has been pointed out there are burble and other factors to consider in the protrack numbers. i've gotten spikes as low as 53 mph on my protrack and i doubt my track is that good..but one spike in the right place could change the average.. i have a bit more faith in the graphs than i do in the 1/3 dive numbers you get off the display.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
its possible, there isnt enough information to really say..she is the only "program" that doesnt mention his predecessors' to him, but there are lots of reasons why she wouldnt i tend to think the Oracle is taking particular interest in this incarnation we dont have enough background on the previous matrixes... how long did each of them last? according to Morpheous the current resistance has been going for 100 years.. something (not specific enough to define) gave me the impression that the anomalies of the One were appearing faster and faster in each successive Matrix. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

aaarrrrrgggg..that was painful ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

just because the One is following this path this time doenst mean that he/she always has..the Architect expressed suprise in Neo's actions already.. I think the Oracle is trying ot break the cycle that has happened 5 times already, by influencing the one in a different manner than previous incarnations.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nioce picks Quade.. damn i wish i could have been there.. now we need to get Bill V on cloning you so your twin can capture the freefly crowd as well... or i just need to get some more gear and learn to fly it... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

read the Architects speech for the bit about the Oracle..the Matrix has already rebooted 5 times. shes not needed for that, shes the 'designer' of the current system, that has a fundamental flaw that eventually results in the One and must be reset again. The Oracle is also on the run (from the Architect?)..she is "after" more than that, possibly and end to the matrix as a means of human enslavement..control and necessary coexistance are major themes..they are repeated in several characters dialogues Zion is not inside the matrix. That would be WAY to obvious and trivial an answer (its possible they will plot it that way but if they do they would be leaving far to many holes in the story..as in "why bother with all the deception in the first place if the machine have that level of control"..i would like to think they are better writers than that. check out the philosophy link i posted earlier for some more insights to what may be going on.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Tracking / vertical speeds
Zenister replied to SkydiveMonkey's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
not nessesarily if the average is the result of two extremes he will have lost more altitude during the high speeds than someone who's average speed is the result of less overall variation ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
Tracking / vertical speeds
Zenister replied to SkydiveMonkey's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hang on, if they both fell at the same vertical speed, how on earth did one person get an extra 13 seconds of freefall? Isn't that over a thousand feet? those are probably average speeds from a protrack. its unlikely they both kept their average speed up the entire time.. i imagine the overall winner had a better low end speed and/or a more consistant slow fall rate... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
i have to disagree with this dave. a proper PLF easily turns into a roll and even at worst (even at high speed) only really risks wrapping your self in your lines & canopy. All the more reason for people to practice the technique so that it becomes instinctive. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

many thanks Kevin, once again i'm anxious to see it, but at the same time i'm not so sure i really want to feel the loss the images will remind me of... i only knew her breifly and yet there is this gaping hole in my life whenever i remember i wont see her smile next time i'm at eloy.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

she isnt kidding!! my first full altitude jump at Kapow was a beautiful clear day and i went out solo to play on my head..did a couple of 360's to look around and then COMPLETELY ZONED out facing Rainer until my protrack (first alarm) woke me from my reviere... I had never been in freefall so close to something that large..its absolutely incredible.. not good i was kicking myself under canopy..should have checked alti at least once between 13.0 and 5.0 heres a screen cap i made from a vid andy shot during a tracking dive...and it simply doesnt do justice to Rainer.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

from the neptune page http://www.alti-2.com/neptune.htm i'm not sure if they are going to charge for the tracking software or not, but given the development costs i think its likely.. i'm looking at one for a second audible and to compare fall rate data..plus the uses as a digital altimeter.. having said all that i still LOVE my pro-track ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yup...stealing O2 even, the plus side is i'll be off thurs/fri when the otter will fly at Kapow (weather permiting..) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

well thats a good question..and one that has been debated a bit in pseudo scientific circles.. if your mind thinks the fight you are in is real will your body react as if it is? the question is "what are the rules of the movie?" i think they are playing with the idea that your mind IS responsible for what happens to you physically.. which is why Neo doesnt die and can save Trinity etc... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

bump to say i fixed it.. (blatant post whoring..) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i was wondering about that..but i dont think the little printer thing they used on the cart could be THAT expensive..maybe a few grand.. it couldnt print anything wider than about 36 inches, length was up to the length of the 'paper' i thought it might be a good side business to run at a DZ after i "cutaway" from the really real world.. dude charged me $15 for the kanji ive got on the side of my helmet, but since there was dead space on the sheet he also put a smaller version and "skydivers know why birds sing" that i put on the back window of my car.. a good deal all around, but i wondered about the profit margins and how long it would take to get the inital investment back.. are there other manufactures of the equipment? got any web links for info? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

HEY!! DRUNKEN PERRISITES!! someone needs to wander over to the manifest cam and turn the light away..or rig up something to block the glare into the cam... and the pool cam doesnt seem to be working..me thinks it would have the best view this time of night.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
