  1. you may want to check Perris's then.. as I was told (and i assume the lawyer you watch has checked it out..now court challenge is something else, particularly in Cali but) "if you slip on a banana peel in the parking lot we are not liable" we call it a waiver, but its more an assumption of risk. you understand that you might get hurt here for any number of reasons, that may not be directly your fault. it does seem strange that they let him exit thru the front, i've seen LOTS of observer riders in the front seats and they always climb out the back just like all the jumpers... Q: do you know if they told him to get out the side door? or did he just think it was like his honda?? open door exit vehicle? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  2. not really, he still signed a waiver, and if its legally sound....the dz could grease the walk ways and its your fault if you slip.. dont want to get hurt? stay on the couch, otherwise its up to you to pay attention to your surroundings. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  4. i'm getting alot of use out of this [callous] tag lately.. [callous]sad to say but sometime you just have to wish the idiot would have died instead. hopefully the failed lawsuit bankrupts him. [/callous] i have seen people climb out of the otter and take a right turn toward the prop..luckily there was some one there to grab them... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  7. you mean by the feet?? that used to be a favorite hanger game when i was at the JTF, walk out on the wing wearing steel toed boots and flip up to hook your toes on the I beams....took more ab strength than anything else, but it was always cool looking down that would be a neat thing to try (without the boots) off the strut.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  9. well it would help if the afternoon would actually get here....today is dddddrrrrraaaaaggggin by.. but hopefully i'll get a few jumps in after work
  10. family is not an "obligation" and while they are extremely important, i can see them anytime of the year when work doenst give me a ton of extra time to wander far and wide.. they are always happy to see me, what date it happens to be is irrelevant and they would rather i be enjoying myself elsewhere rather than sitting home with them wishing i was somewhere else.. ive missed quite a few holidays wandering the blue ridge parkway, jumping at eloy, diving in mexico..a couple of "operation deny Xmas" etc... you have to make it about the time you DO spend with them, not about what day the calender says it is.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. the cases of Fat Tire i bring to Kapow most weekends vanish the instant the beer light is on..its good stuff.. lately though i've been more partial to their Blue Paddle ale.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  14. Supposedly you can hit the ball longer with cork in the bat. it makes the end of the bat lighter and results in higher bat speed, bat speed is the primary factor (assuming you hit the ball correctly) in determining how far the ball will go.. there are two major problems with removing the limits for bat types..one is 'the records' would have to have a before & after division..(some say they should already) and that the ball parks would have to be redesigned to accommodate them..that would be really pricey, and we all know that team owners dont want to spend their own money for anything.. i'm amazed Sosa was that stupid, or rather that his handlers let him be so stupid. its pretty much tainted all he's "accomplished" in the last few years, even if he wasnt cheating at the time.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  15. from the website Harvey Airfield (S43) is located in Snohomish, WA. 8 miles East of Everett, WA and 27 miles North-North-East of Seattle, WA. Directions From I-5: In Everett, take Exit #194 (Hwy 2: Snohomish/Wenatchee). Go Eastbound on Hwy 2 for 3 miles, take the Snohomish/Bickford Ave. exit. 18. Oh yeah....almost forgot. Or some TALL rubber boots and some velcro gloves. so i've always wondered, when your facing them out over the cliff, do you ever get the urge to BASE jump? would it be considered a BASE tandem if you leave their feet in your boots? what would that do to your "head high" exit position..does the sheep "disengage" on openning? sheepBASE numbers? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  20. Zenister is fucking hot. If he tried, he could score a chicky with no problemo. Oh, and he likes Tori Amos too. That makes him almost perfect. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. and as we've argued for several threads. education and changing "the culture of disinterest" so that people seek it, will make the sport safer for everyone involved. We can do that without further limiting the freedoms that are (were once at least) fundamental to our nation. will it be quick? no. will it be easy? probably not. wiil people still die? yes (they will anyway. death comes for everyone) will you be responsible for your own life choices? yes. so you'll be OK when the majority of jump injuires & fatalities happen to jumpers with 500+ jumps? even if the number of injuries stays relatively the same? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  22. i dont want to hear it..i spent most of the last month in the middle of nowhere louisiana.. of course i guess it would help if i started 'hunting' again..but.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  24. well of course you can abstract any situtation to the ridiculous, but honestly yes. if your that stupid, oh well, more O2 for those who arent, or chose not to remain so...unfortunately our liability culture "its NOT MY FAULT! im gonna sue!" wouldnt permit that, but i would much rather skydiving ( and the american culture in general) put its foot down about personal responsibility when it comes to canopy choices, rather than bow to the continual pressure to regulate the risk (and responsibility) out of everything in life... i should be able to sign away any legal responsibility anyone ELSE might have for my actions.. isnt that what the waiver is for?? death and injury are bad things in that they prevent you from continuing whatever activity you chose, however its my life and limbs to risk, if you've warned me, if youve pointed to all the training available and made sure i understand the risk (via waiver etc..) you are no longer responsible for anything that happens, just as i am not responsible for any emotional response you might have as the results of my actions.. i would treat the situation you describe the same way i treated all the "hey yall watch this" stunts i've seen, that i knew were going to end tragically after they'd been warned about how stupid it was.. [callous]i'd get the popcorn and the beer & pull up a seat, because this is going to get ugly the world is becoming a very crowded place, and we arent doing much to slow it or to expand our horizons. might as well let those who wish to, free up more O2 for the rest of us.[/callous] ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
