  1. Not the way it was. I can only state what happened, and am completely unable to respond to your comments or to anyone else's wild claims. I have no explanation for what transpired, only the fact that it did. Offer opinions all you want, I have nothing to argue and no logic to offer. I did not direct anything, I was directed. I was given no copies of anything, ever. And I burned my draft cards. All of them. I was NEVER contacted by the FBI or any law enforcement agency. My threat was to move to Canada, hardly a county transgression. Negative, negative, negative. Where's your supervisor, Jerry the computer? "I....am......not.....an.....undercover....computer......beezeeep." "And I burned my draft cards. All of them." Just exactly how many draft cards did you have? I have never known an individual who had more than one draft card. "My threat was to move to Canada, hardly a county transgression." Off hand, I would say that wasn't a threat or transgression at all. I don't believe you have mentioned when the above events took place. Was it during the Vietnam era? If so, what was your draft number?
  2. Isn't that the kind of thing a guy in a bar says when challenged about his "Seal" training? Seriously, that's a simply ridiculous claim. If you're left standing alive to talk about it, there is always a paper trail. I don't care who you are. Bob, it's simply ridiculous to claim the government would have "exsponged" your records because of your "top secret" mission, yet you'd still somehow be able to talk about it. Simply ridiculous. I was never in the military, I left before the swearing-in. I was subsequently tried by Commander John Anderson and convicted of threatening my draftboard, Loraine K. Long, sentenced to four years at Fort Levinworth USDB, suspended. THAT is my military experience. I inquired under the Freedom of Information Act and verified that Mac purged everything just like he said. Even my draftboard files are spotless. No indication of my having been processed. Nothing. That is fact. Can't make up those kinds of facts. Search til you are blue in the face. I'd be happy to have you show me anything! It is simply NOT THERE! POOF! Maybe 377 can add to or correct the following. If you were never in the military, you would be tried by a Federal Court and not a Military Court. I believe Mohammed Ali illustrated that point a number of years ago. Consequently, you may have been in a Federal facility at Leavenworth but you would NOT be in the military facility there. But it is not likely that you were at Leavenworth in the first place and you don't have any military experience of any kind. If you threatened a member of a local draft board, you would probably be in the county jail.
  3. Is my map wrong or has Oregon re-arranged the Interstate Highways since 1971? According to current maps, Biggs, Oregon (presumably your Biggs Junction) is at Mile Post 104 on I-84 which actually does pass through the Columbia River Gorge. You are presumably referring to Newberg, Oregon which is on the southwest side of the Portland area and west of I-5. So far as I can determine, I-5 is not even close to the Columbia River Gorge.
  4. The hurricane picture seems to be of Galveston Island just after a major hurricane hit it a few years ago. And I believe that the owner of the only home still standing had invested quite a bit of money into making sure that it could withstand low category hurricanes.
  5. There is some real complexity in the Cooper case, but its not of the made-up kind. Here's an example: Blevins etc are "proud" of pointing out the weather facts of the Cooper case based on the facts for PDX (Portland) recorded at Weather Underground. Meanwhile people keep coming forth with contrary testimony which Blevins etal quickly debunk as being 'crazy', 'lies', and 'stupid'. So, go to Weather Underground for April 5 1972 at Portland and once again you see a pleasant day in progress at Portland. Yes. The mere "facts" seem to suggest just that at: http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KPDX/1 972/4/5/DailyHistory.html? req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA The problem is, on the very same day just across the river at Vancouver, starting at about 1:00pm all hell was breaking forth, literally. A tornado struck Vancouver and rent a path of havoc all the way to Brush Prarie. And debris landed all the way over on Portland, and maybe some Cooper money too? something the mere weather report at Wx Underground does not tell you! See attached - You never would have guessed that "fact" by looking at WX Underground at PDX for the same day! Anyone which includes me, stating there was a tornado on 5 April 1972 just across the river from PDX, must be a "liar" based on Wx Underground data for PDX for the same day? So, those reporting high winds and rain east and north (to north east) of Vancouver on 24 Nov 1971 must all be "liars" by the Blevins standard ... or what? Blevins is a truth detector. No other witness is needed. Blevins knows "lies when he sees em"! Georger, etal, Take a look at post #1529, posted on the now locked Cooper thread, by Ckret on January 29, 2008. Ckret gives the weather at the time of the jump as follows: "Ceiling of 5,000 feet, broken clouds at 3500 feet, scattered clouds at 1500 feet. Winds of 12 to 14 knots, light rain showers". Actually, the broken clouds mentioned above at 3500 feet is the ceiling and the "ceiling of 5000 feet" is an overcast at 5000 feet. The above information, and other winds and weather that Ckret posted on the present and previous Cooper threads, are not taken from Weatherunderground. Instead, Crekt got that information from the FAA and the National Weather Service as did Weatherunderground. If you want to do some comparisons, compare Ckret's numbers with Weatherunderground. If the numbers are agreeable, then it looks like Ckret took at least some of his information from the FAA's hourly sequence reports. So you might compare the numbers at 7:50PM and 8:50PM (which are the times that the FAA observers record their observations for the next hourly sequence report). Assuming that Cooper jumped at 8:15PM, the FAA observations would have been made 25 minutes before and 35 minutes after Cooper's jump. A tornado is a rather highly localized weather event. An F5 tornado is a real terror and maybe a mile wide, but on a scale of 50+ miles it is still a localized event and not a large area event such as a Category 5 hurricane.
  6. Thanks, I hope to have some more things like that written up in a week or two after some down time for routine maintenance.
  7. I once saw a story that a body was sighted outside the Golden Gate bridge by an outbound freighter during the day after the convicts disappeared. The freighter radioed the information to the Coast Guard but they did not have a ship available to check it out at that moment. Based on information from the freighter, the story speculated that it was one of the Anglin brothers bodies. But it was never recovered.
  8. Mrshutter45 and Rosebud, You need to visit Sluggo's web page and take a look at the radio transcripts and other information there. Sluggo's web page is at "http://n467us.com" and my apologies to both you and him for not having learned how to make a clicky on DZ.com. Since Rosebud is a pilot, perhaps he would gain some insight into the problem of locating the jump site by giving a good critical reading of the radio transcripts from the Seattle Air Traffic Control Center people for the flight from Seattle to the point near the Fort Jones VORTAC in northern California where it was transferred to the Oakland Air Traffic Control Center. Then carefully read the Oakland Air Traffic Control Center transcripts for the rest of the flight to Reno. After reading those transcripts, how do you rate the Seattle transcripts with the Oakland transcripts? Do you notice anything missing from the Seattle transcripts compared to the Oakland transcripts? Sluggo's web page has a great amount of additional information that will probably interest you. In a previous post, I think I said the "placard" was found south of La Center. I should have said south of Toutle. There is information on this on Tom Kaye's web page.
  9. Blevins, You should be able to figure it out since you are a part of it. So is everyone who is pushing a candidate who doesn't have a chance of the proverbial snowball of being Cooper. The above excludes Vicki since she is not pushing Mel and he is a stronger possibility than any others since he has actually been missing since 1971. I can appreciate the idea of Mel as a suspect, but I DO have to point out the obvious. A lot of people went missing in 1971. Doesn't make any of them DB Cooper without some additional evidence. I also didn't see anything in my last post that 'pushes' a suspect. It was strictly satire. Since it involved Bob Hope, Rich Little, and the cast of Laugh-In, you weren't supposed to take it seriously. And the fact that a lot of people didn't go missing in 1971 doesn't make them a possible Cooper suspect either. But should anyone take KC, Duane, etc., seriously either?

  11. Thanks for your input, I respect your opinion, but I DO recall his discussing being a pilot and am attempting to properly research this for 377. Can be reckless to claim a negative. I am rarely wrong on my recalls, but some details are starting to get foggy at 69, and that is good. I suspect that is a common phenomenia here...... It is even more reckless to claim a positive which is pure baloney. Nixon had a reputation for being incapable of doing anything mechanical. Even changing a light bulb, to use an illustration, was apparently beyond his mechanical skills. He certainly would not be a pilot. Never say, "never".... famous quote. I have basis for the statement, despite his apparent mechanical shortcomings, he had an extremely high IQ. I did find this from a book on the life of Nixon: "He was an air transport officer in the US Navy during the war, and after the war was posted stateside as a legal officer. He wanted to become a pilot, but instead was posted at Guadalcanal and later at Green Island, never seeing active combat." From this and the tape where he claimed to have been a pilot, I am guessing that any pilot experience would have been civil and post-war. I will keep you posted. It will show up, I think. Nixon jumped into politics immediately after getting out of the Navy. If you "think" the tape will show up supporting your claim then I guess you also expect the famous 17 minute gap in another tape, courtesy of Rose Mary Woods, is going to reappear at some point also.
  12. QuoteJo Stated: He [Duane] had friends in Atlanta who worked the towers at the airport and he sold insurance to these guys. They are rated REAL high for insurance purposes because of the stress involved. One of the companies Duane worked for specialized in insurance for Government Employee with Aviation and the FBI being part of this group.Quote Jo, I have never heard of a life insurance company that specialized in selling life insurance to government employees. The federal government already has in place excellent life insurance programs for it employees and that insurance is purchased through the government. If such was actually done, it would have to be done through the government. In the case of medical insurance, a number of commercial companies sell insurance to government employees but that insurance is purchased through the government and not directly from the company by the employee.

  14. Cooper may not have had a walkie talkie, but a transmitter so an accomplice could find HIM. They would have had pre-arranged places for the accomplice to head to - depending on the range of the transmitter. Maybe why Green Mt (in Washougal was so important to my story). I don't know this for a fact - just Duane's background and the stories he told me and what he showed me in WA in 1979. The witnesses never mentioned a walkie talkie and I do NOT believe they were all that small in 1971, but I do not really know. Because of Duane's involvent in communications - (walkie talkies, CB's and his association with the Tower (communications in airports) operators. (can't remember the correct name for these ground controls tower personnel at this moment - NOT feeling well at all right now). Jo, Now your are claiming that Duane has a background in aviation radio communications? Just exactly when did you get that idea?
  15. Please remember that the airliner was at 10,000 feet above sea level, there was a complete cloud overcast with a base at 5000 feet above sea level, then there was a "broken" cloud layer with a base at 3500 feet above sea level, and other clouds below that. A "broken" cloud layer is defined as covering 60 to 90 percent of the sky and constitutes a "ceiling". Even descending under an open parachute, Cooper could not have had a good view below the clouds until he was below 3500 feet. While the Portland International Airport is only 30 feet above sea level, the ground elevations to the north and northwest are considerably higher. For instance, the placard from the stairwell was found about 1500 feet above sea level near La Center. So Cooper would have been hard pressed to identify anything precisely even when he descended below the 3500 foot ceiling. And he would not have had more than three minutes to look around before he was in trees, or water, or on solid ground.
  16. He said it in an interview. He said he was a pilot, but that he didn't fly anymore, he had pilots for that. I can try to find more information on that, but it was not my intention to get into a trial case here. You are way out of my league. I'm just a tool that has been used for a very good memory. Can't be sure when it was recorded, but I think it was in California. The FAA director or whatever that came to power about the time this Project initiated was the first pilot in charge of the FAA also. That had the biggest role in starting anything. He was from California and may have had direct ties to Nixon, pilot-wise. I'm not a professional researcher, but I will try, because I respect your attitude. It has to be out there somewhere. I vividly remember the tape. Nixon was NOT a pilot. He was a lawyer that was assigned to various Naval Aviation organizations but strictly in a legal capacity. At the same time, it should be noted that Eisenhower was actually a civilian pilot. He had learned to fly through a military recreational flying club while in Manilla in the late 1930s with MacArthur. At the start of WW2, Eisenhower had strongly supported the founding of what became the Army liason aircraft missions.
  17. Please permit me to quote, without further comment, the following: "Aerodynamics is a beautifully INTELLECTUAL [italics in the original source] discipline, incorporating elements from a millennium of human thought that finally coalesced during the nineteenth century to produce the exponential growth in powered flight that we see today". SOURCE: Dr. John D. Anderson, Jr., "A History of Aerodynamics and Its Impact on Flying Machines", page 3, Cambridge University Press, 1997. Relevance? Maybe you are not learned in Skydiving or Military Freefall Parachuting? That information is relavent to the discussion. Having that experience is germain to the argument. Matt As I understand your remarks, the egg came before the chicken and the cart goes in front of the horse.
  18. Quade, To change the subject slightly and to something that actually can be answered with certainity, what were the requirements for a B license in 1963?
  19. Umm...Err...yeah, ME TOO! "Blue is UP, Green is DOWN...if WE don't aim, we'll MISS the ground!" Maybe it was a good thing that I made my last jump in 1964, before the socializing took over.
  20. An excellent observation. But would you be kind enough to state the field and the experts you are referring to in the above statement?

  22. Come on Jerry.... I know you can do it... I will loan ya the rig I will even let you use it in perfect weather.... you can jump and not spin can't you??? Hell I will even have Charlie my rigger, who is the only one I trust to pack my reserves ( he is a master FAA rigger who got his tickie back in the 1960's) pack it up so its in date. Amazon, I agree with Jerry on this. And please get that data to me before you try it, this is important (at least to me). Repeat, BEFORE you try it!
  23. Georger, The last word in your reply above, which you previously used in another post that you deleted, proves that you really are a former Vice-President of the USA.
  24. I still have that old rig from the same period... same kind of canopy... want to jump it to prove he tumbled??? Amazon, Hopefully you are addressing that to Jerry Thomas. I have already done my fair share of tumbling and probably more. Have you found that data? Or do you know of another source for such data.
  25. Robert99 was there. (standing next to Blevins) Actually, I could not make it that evening due to other plans so I delegated it to the air and it took care of Cooper, apparently for good.
