Some videos from Felix Baumgartner's jump are now available at "http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/49465" and include a few seconds of video during the free fall from a camera that appears to be mounted behind his head. Robert99

Klaxon horn sounding. Loudspeaker blares: "Tease Alert Tease Alert. This is not a drill". It must be tough being 007 Jo. So many secrets to protect. Never reveal the whole story. It would be akin to treason. 377 Jo, if you want to spin another story about Duane then please expand on this one. A few days ago, you went to great lengths in a post to state that everyone, except maybe one former wife, really liked Duane and held him in high regard. Okay. If the above is true, then why didn't Duane really like all these people in return. Duane obviously felt that someone really didn't like him since he was still carrying a concealed pistol almost up to the day he died. And he felt it necessary to pack some heat. Robert99

Do you have a link to the cameras that he was wearing? I didn't see any video from them. And is there a link to the YouTube or Discovery Channel video? Robert99

Knoss, I'll take your word for the last sentence but your earlier comments need corrections. The first flight of the Boeing 727 was on February 9, 1963 and it's first revenue flight was with Eastern Air Lines on February 1, 1964. Robert99

Robert 99 stated: Call it what you want, but those are his words. John was an engineer - I do not know his employment record (that is for the FBI to know). From the beginning of innovation, not eveything in the past was done under controlled enviroments as it is today. An investigation of his (John's) background will be the only thing that can be used for you to make such a flagrant statement. You are attacking the credibility of a well known man who was loyal to his country - without actual knowledge of his involvement and the involvement of his associates. I have explained the family connections to the company that provided the "paint" and engineered the "paint" used on the Boeings. Before you attack - investigate. Before you slander - know who and what you are talking about. What DO YOU know about the development of Chemical Warfare for the Government during WWI. I expect U know nothing and I suggest you START there - then and only then will you find your answers. These two things are connected and I will let you figure that one out on your own. I suggest you start with the development of Chemical Warfare in WW1. Jo, Let's speak frankly. First, you don't know what you are talking about. Period! You are blowing smoke about third hand versions of conversations that you have heard rumors of and those conversations may have never happened in the first place. Second, you don't know anything about the aircraft industry, how it operates, how it has ever operated, how aircraft are designed, what engineers do in the design of aircraft, how aircraft are operated, etc., etc.. Third, to repeat, no one is going to have a copy of the schematics of an aircraft that is being developed under a major program in his home unless he stole them! Family "connections" wouldn't mean anything in this matter. Stealing proprietary information is still stealing! Perhaps a story from Boeing's 707 design days will illustrate the above. When Boeing decided to design what became known as the 707, they set up restricted areas for the design team and the shop that hand built the original "Dash 80". Only approved people with special badges were allowed in these areas. They even used a mis-leading design number to help keep the project secret. One day the president of Boeing tried to enter one of these restricted areas without his special badge and he was refused entrance by the guards. Fourth, your bringing up chemical warfare during WW1 doesn't have anything, repeat anything, to do with the production of aircraft post-WW2. This is just another of your attempts to distract everyone when you make meaningless and over-the-top statements. Fifth, in your crusade to prove that you are really "Mrs. D. B. Cooper", you have not come up with a single piece of information that can survive the light of day. You have been trying to send everyone on more wild goose chases than there are probably wild geese in existence. Sixth, in the search for the real D. B. Cooper, your actions are a hinderance rather than a help. It is very easy to see why you have so many problems with the FBI and others. Robert99

The word is that Felix had spent a lot of time practicing that first step in order to prevent any rotation or spinning. And when he disappeared from view, maybe two miles below the capsule, the overhead camera was still showing him in a very stable and slightly head down position. I think the people in the control room were actually cheering because he was so stable. Robert99

lol..Gotta love a man of science. The only thing I think while opening that third beer is "now where did I put the freakin cheetos?"

Not sure of your link but I found this last night - the links in the bibli are good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Bull_Stratos That is the correct link.

Jo, This is nonsense. If John had those documents, which is very unlikely, then he stole them. No aircraft manufacturer is going to allow the schematics or any other piece of information about their under-development aircraft to leave their facility except under very controlled circumstances. Since you have apparently never visited an aircraft manufacturing facility, you apparently don't realize that there are guards at the gate that check all the employees, their brief cases, their lunch boxes, and anything else they have with them. Your statement about John just won't fly. Robert99

Red Bull Stratos now has a page on Wikipedia giving more details on the jump. Of course, still more details would have been helpful. But some comments from me follow below. Red Bull states that Felix reached the speed of sound at 98,000 feet after 40 seconds of free fall. They don't give the exact jump altitude but it was very close to 128,000 feet. A few days ago, I saw something (which I cannot now find) on the Red Bull web page to the effect that, jumping from the planned 120,000 feet, Felix was expected to go supersonic at about 95,000 feet and would be decelerating before getting to 90,0000 feet. So the altitude range where Felix was expected to go supersonic is consistent between the two jump altitudes mentioned. Using the 1976 US Standard Atmosphere and a geometric altitude of 98,000 feet, the temperature is given as 226.4 degrees Kelvin or -46.8 degrees Centigrade. And the speed of sound is given as 301.62 meters/second which is calculated to be 1085.832 kilometers/hour. Red Bull claims a Mach number of 1.24 so multiplying that by 1085.832 kilometers/hour gives 1346.4 kilometers/hour compared to Red Bull's claim of 1342.0 kilometers/hour. That is close enough for me in view of slight rounding differences. It is apparent that Red Bull and I were probably both using the 1976 US Standard Atmosphere numbers or their equivalent. The speed of sound is a function of ambient temperature and increases with temperature. The standard temperatures shown above are significantly lower than the temperatures shown for the higher altitudes during the jump. From about 35,000 feet above sea level to about 65,000 feet above sea level, the temperatures shown on TV during the ascent were up to 90.0 degrees Fahrenheit below zero and then increased to slightly above zero as the balloon ascended above 100,000 feet. Measuring temperatures accurately at extreme heights is a real problem. Red Bull needs to use the actual temperatures encountered around 100,000 feet and not the standard values given in the altitude tables. And using the actual temperatures, they need to calculate the actual speed of sound for the altitudes they are discussing. If there is an error in their calculations, it will probably be related to the temperatures used to determine the speed of sound. As you may have noticed on the TV monitors, the balloon also had a ground speed of about 120 miles per hour for a while as it was going through the jet stream altitudes. Also, from what I could see of Felix's spinning, it started about 55 or 60 seconds into the free fall. According to Red Bull's estimate, that would be about 15 or 20 seconds after Felix went supersonic. I hope Red Bull releases all the detailed data about how they determined when Felix went supersonic and how they did their calculations. It is just a case of showing your work. Robert99

Excellent. And I'll bet Kitty landed on all four feet. Robert99

Of course, the tease, the promise, the eternal wait for fulfillment=Jo's very predictable MO. Let us know when you have proof Jo... and it better be more substantive than a ten year old kid seeing something at an airshow and an older sibling who had a Boeing connection. BTW, Boeing's US Army connection was helicopters not fixed wing jet aircraft. The Air National Guard operated C 22s (Boeing 727-100 types) but ANG is Air Force, not Army. Turning Duane from a zero to hero is a nearly impossible task even for someone as determined as you. Duane is just a patheticly underqualified candidate. Still, I do admire your determination and think you are sincere in your beliefs. 377 Jo, What do you mean by Duane's older brother being in the Army and at the same time being a "consultant" for Boeing with the Army (presumably you are referring to the WW2 era Army Air Corps). This brother could not be working for both of them at the same time. It was more than 26 years from the end of WW2 until the hijacking. The WW2 era Boeing aircraft had nothing to do with the 727s. And the fact that the 727 rear stairs could be lowered in flight was probably a very closely held piece of information since that capability was developed and used by the CIA. Robert99

For Heaven Sake - you all are acting alike a bunch of teenages. Read my post I made in reply to Robt's statement! Jo, Have you been appointed our Den Mother? I didn't get the memo. Robert99

Jo, I am shocked by your statement! If you know of a single person on this thread who does that, report them to Quade and ask thay they be permanently banned! I'm sure that any number of others on this thread will also support you on that. Robert99

Blevins, What the heck? You claim to be a teacher of writing or whatever to the children of Auburn, or at least those that find their way to the Auburn theater. Now a genuine student seeking knowledge (meaning me) has been flipped off by you. I AM disappointed. Robert99

HUH!? Speed numbers? Well, since virtually every post where you comment on something I've said is an insult...I accidentally mixed up you and Farf. An understandable error, considering your history. Farf: Go whine to Red Bull...etc. Blevins: Maybe you should go back to Red Bull, read the numbers, then re-read Farf's post and maybe you'll get what he means. Blevins, Before you start accepting the "Mach plus" number from Red Bull as "Revealed Truth From On High", please answer a few simple questions to help alleviate my ignorance on the subject. 1. What is the definition of "Mach Number"? 2. What is the speed of sound in a vacuum? 3. What is the speed of sound in a "near vacuum"? 4. Is speed of sound "measured directly" or is it "calculated"? 5. What is the temperature in a vacuum? 6. What is the temperature in a "near vacuum"? 7. How is temperature in a vacuum or near vacuum determined? 8. Are factors such as "g" (the acceleration due gravity) and "R" (the universal gas constant) used either directly or indirectly in determining the speed of sound? 9. Are any of the factors used in determining the speed of sound a function of altitude, temperature, or any other physical parameter that was encountered in today's jump? I look forward to your detailed answers. Robert99

Brian Utley is quoted on CNN as saying that the maximum Mach Number was 1.24. Don't hold your breath until that number is confirmed! I look forward to seeing such things as the altitude, temperature, etc., at which the Mach Number was supposedly exceeded. Robert99

Baumgartner DID spin on the way down (about a minute into the freefall). But he was able to stop it. The spinning had been expected and there were cheers in the mission control room when he managed to get it stopped and stabilized in a head down position. That the spinning started at that particular time means, at least to me, that he was closing in on Mach 1 and was in the transonic aerodynamics flow regime. Did Baumgartner actually exceed Mach 1? I kind of doubt it, but he probably got very, very close to it. But actually getting past Mach 1 is a really big problem for something as un-aerodynamic as the human body. Robert99

Baumgartner launched at 8:30 AM Pacific Daylight Time. Robert99

Felix Baumgartner's balloon has been inflated and he is very close to launch. Go to the Red Bull Stratos site for the video. Robert99

YOU are NOT grasping it!. Duane's prints from the other arrests where NEVER compared with the ALIAS. CARR was talking on the assumption this was done! Duane's last major arrest was BEFORE the central SYSTEM. NOTE he was booked, served his time and given a commutation of sentence under the name of John C. Collins - NOT Duane Weber or any other ALIAS! Duane was release and commuted as JOHN COLLINS. It was never noted in the Jefferson FILE that John Collins was DUANE WEBER- until it was placed on the Prison SITE AFTER the file had been destroyed! I had communication with Jefferson before the files were destroyed - I was told Duane WEBER was NEVER in Jefferson. I WAS unable to obtain the files from JEFFERSON because I was not the widow of John Collins. HAD the FILES have noted COLLINS AND WEBER as being one and the same - I would have gotten those record. ONLY after the paper files were DESTROYED and it was put on the computer system was I able to obtain any information at all. CARR timed this real GOOD with the THREAD when he posted I could get them online. HE KNEW the files were DENIED to me before. THIS was around the time he posted Duane's records on the thread - RECORDS I had asked him for and the FBI about for yrs....yet what do they do - wait until the BACK-up PAPER files and the DETAILED reports had been destroyed (GOTTA ASK YOURSELF WHY THEY DID THAT). The FBI went looking for Duane Weber just 3 months after John Collins had been released. He was NOT hard to find, but if the FBI was after him for something - they sure did a LOT of LOOKING the OTHER WAY! Duane was selling insurance in 1969 in Mobile Al. and then on to Atlanta, GA and was in the business until he went out on disability. The accumulation of the old prints on WEBER were never placed into the SYSTEM - CARR had NOTHING to OFFER other than the McNeil FILE which the first AGENT had denied!?????????????????????????????????[/:(][/:/] Jo, You either don't understand what Carr was saying in the two posts (starting with 1995) where he explains the facts concerning the fingerprints or you simply don't want to do anything except argue. I notice that you argued with Carr on that same page (page 80) about fingerprints and DNA. On page 81, the argument continued with you making 11 posts and Carr 6. Carr plainly told you that the FBI had a copy of Duane's fingerprints in 1942 and that they were updated subsequently during his 25+ arrests. This apparently included his arrests under the name of John Collins. But regardless, Duane's fingerprints from 1942 to 1976 did not change when he was using a different name. And Carr was using the prints that were on file at the FBI and it would not make any difference whatsoever if someone altered the copies of those prints that were on file at some other law enforcement agency. In your arguments with Carr, you mention that James Earl Ray managed to alter his fingerprints that were on file at a Missouri prison. That did not change the prints that were on file at the FBI. Ray's prints on the rifle that he used to kill MLK were identified from FBI files. And a number that was engraved on some of the items (maybe including a portable radio) that were found with the rifle, turned out to be Ray's prisoner number in Missouri. Jo, your entire argument about the fingerprints is meaningless. Robert99

Where is this REPORT - you indicated it was in the thread - I never saw it! The list of name sounds like they didn't as for the spelling. John Claudian Weber was his brothers name. John had been alienated from his brother for 38 yrs prior to Duane's death. He knew nothing of his brother since 1958 - I have letters from John that attest to this. The sister REFUSED to be interviewed, but I do not know if they finally got to her - she never mentioned it to me. The other wife in GA. - I think they contacted her, but their relationship was very volcanic so I do not know how well that would have gone. There was his friend - who he did NOT meet until after 1973 but who knew Duane well. THere were ex-employers - so that could be part of those they interviewed. They DID NOT INTERVIEW Tommy Gunn, Tony Wong, Ray (I forget the guys last name right now) or some of the others out of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. The truth is Duane only had one friend he was close to and he did not meet him until 1973 and I still keep intouch with he and his wife. The others Duane contacted knew him as John Collins - but the FBI DID NOT INTERVIEW THEM - GOTTA ASK YOUR SELF WHY? Jo, You need to get real. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and then go to page 80 on this thread as Mrshutter mentions above. The post with all the names is Post 1995, as Mrshutter lists in his post above, and then Post 1996 is by you. In addition, you have five more posts on page 80. The above just confirms that you don't really read or understand or even care what other people post on this thread. I think you owe the FBI and Carr an apology. You have mis-represented what they have done and tried to apply your own non-existent investigative skills to this matter. Robert99

I'm curious - would a ticket stub have Sea-Tac on it or simply the airport code "SEA"? Admittedly I only did a very brief search but I'm seeing a lot more references to "SEA" on images of ticket stubs and the words "Seattle-Tacoma" are more frequently used in news articles of the day as well as in pictures/maps of the layout of the airport. Just wondering if the word Sea Tac would have been on a 1971 ticket stub. In all probability it would have been only "SEA" and is the code for the airport. The ticket itself would have been in a standard format approved by the airline industry. "SEA" would also be on the tags for the checked luggage headed to Seattle. Robert99

Blevins, Georger has given you some good advice. Robert99
